Ratchet thought he was him for this whole episode, thats one of the few times Megatron did a good thing. Which was completely folding him like origami bro got humbled quick with that

Part of the pain in that moment is seeing Orion - now Optimus - reciprocate drawing the line in the sand. His best friend had spent so much time trying to dissuade him from his course of action, and now he’s said “ok, you got what you wanted - now live with the consequences.” And that’s painful for both of them.

“Unless you’re in the mood for mutually assured destruction” god i love the way he talks in this show. Always sounds like a highly educated and experienced yet ruthless political figure. He was a revolutionary after all who used his strength to draw attention and his voice to gain loyalty.

This scene is the last time we see any part of the D-16 Orion knew in the movie. It’s _all_ downhill from here.

What really gets me is how after this brief moment of regret, of sadness, his eyes are redder than ever. His hate hasn't dimmed, it's _grown._ He learned absolutely nothing from this, he still doesn't understand why Orion had to do this to him.

The moment Prime pulled out the reforged Star Saber in this scene, you just _knew_ the battle to come would be epic.

The Star Saber was already damaged from the first battle with Unicron. Combine that with billions of years of time wearing at it and a blade made of pure Dark Energon, and the result speaks for itself. The fight was rigged from the beginning.

I like that we can see Prime struggling even before his blade breaks. Megatron's genuinely just a good duelist.

Spark extractor, a last-ditch weapon to kill all ‘bots in a decent area( maybe larger if fully charged?) feared by all simply by looking at it. Could it have won the war? Yes if deployed correctly.

For some reason, whenever I see ratchet in this transformer movie, I keep seeing him as medic from TF2 (Team fortress 2)

So is he the medic and did he steal his voice box

Even when we do good to the best of our abilities it’s is the failures that stick not the success we always say “I could’ve done better. If I hadn’t done this then he or she would be able to do this.” Ratchet sees his task incomplete as he was not able to save Bumblebee’s voice.

The Spark Extractor was treated with such immense weight the entire season. Despite only being used once, you felt it’s weight every time it was on screen.

No relic shows the difference between Autobot and Decepticon thinking like the Spark Extractor. Autobots create things like the Phase Shifter, something defensive in nature, and what do the Cons create? Instant kill devices.

I remember this show but it feels like a fever dream

I watched the '86 movie in school just a few years ago in high school. Let's just say I was glad everyone else was caught up in their own conversations at lunch

I really enjoy this dialogue between the two. It gives a lot of insight into Ratchet’s prickly personality being a shield after everything he’s already gone through, as well as Raf’s attention to detail even as a kid.

You know, you would never expect that Bumblebee literally had his throat torn out by Megatron just looking at his behavior. He’s clearly not _happy_ about it, and understandably so, but he seems to have moved past it the best he could.

Raf being happy that Ratchet even managed to save Bumblebee's life, versus Ratchet only thinking about failing to save Bumblebee's voice. Good contrast between the two.

I only watched one of the animated series. Optimus prime had to stop a lazer that was bout to destroy the earth and he offered a device to one of his friends that was supposed to help organize his mind or something and he didn't accept it. After Optimus sacrificed his life he flew out there just looking for it and breaking down emotionally as there was nothing left. That and how Starscream died in the same episode stuck with me.
