MOT FAILURE : Handbrake efficiency
The handbrake mechanism on this caliper had become corroded and siezed which meant the handbrake was never in operation on this side when pulling the handbrake lever. New caliper on and through the MOT . Just needs to be painted ! #vagcars #motfail #handbrake #calipers #vwgolfgti #vwgolf6 #mechanic #vagcars

    What do you call the belt beside the altonater pal? The one to the right of your hand not the timing belt.

    Had to do this at Chevy on one and I was so irritated that that didn’t take the whole van literally 2 minutes across the road to ford.

    When I used to work at Firestone this was by far my favorite job. Rear caliper pads and rotors would pay 4 hours. Easy money

    You don't need to do that,just loosen the bolts at the rear of the hub,turn the disc so the slots line up and slide off

      This is a 2018 Transit LWB RWD. You must be talking about FWD models. It's impossible to do any other way. To take off the disc you must remove the hub and shaft ?

      @@cvautos22 nope,release the caliper carrier,once removed you can see the 15mil disc retaining bolts,use a 15mil socket on a wobbly take them out,a couple of taps with a hammer,spin the disc till the slots line up and chap off (depending on rust accumulation),wire brush up the slots,replace disc,retighten bolts and replace carrier,, fwd only has 1 retaining nut and slides off stub,then remove bolts chap off disc,replace and replace nut tighten to torque,job done
