There should be more natural burials as well.

It’s my understanding that VSED is a relatively comfortable way to die, and a legal option for anyone in the US.

I don't think that's how it works. I think the water part is what does it. I think its difficult but the lack of water becomes lethal. @@zythr9999

You dont die from starvation. To die from only stop eating would take several months. With VSED you die from dehydration.

Are there Over the Counter medications to help with the pain of VSED?

    • @squishmcphee2529

There is no pain with VSED. If you read about it, they say it’s actually euphoric and the reason you need help is to keep you from drinking because the euphoria impairs your thinking.

@@lookingup113 im learning more about it. Eventually with VSED, you get to a point that Hospice can then come in and give comfort care.

@@lookingup113 it didn’t sound like she toughed much of anything out once she made the choice to VSED. She died in 3 days. All her toughing out was done in the years before the decision.

good video, I know what you mean when you talk about each day being so hard to get through. And yes the government definitly needs some reforming in regards to people who are suffering to the point that they want to take there own lives. Do you have any idea when you plan on going through with it ? I wish you well and can tell you have a beautiful soul !

Yeah I read part of your story in an Exit newsletter. You were in Switzerland in 2017 ,decided against it and now you are thinking of going back and using Sarco. I understand totally. I am older than you with a lot of back pain, also heart and stomach issues, no evidence of being terminal though. But every day is a struggle, some worse than others. This country sucks , so backward and full of morons protesting the right to die . if we lived in Switzerland, it all would be so much easier and we could go whenever we wanted. But here it is such a long trip with all the preparation and expense. I have to get my passport renewed, then I am hoping to make the decision on the trip. I want to be sure before I make plans to leave. If you get a chance listen to the song I wrote about it "my assisted suicide song" on my channel. Good luck in making your own decision.

Maia, I would suggest you do more checking into VSED. I have looked into it quite a bit, because at age 77, I am going to do it. Without a lot of explanation, I have extensive back and skeletal issues resulting from motorcycle and car wrecks which has compounded my scoliosis, kyphosis, osteoporosis and arthritis. My physical abilities are rapidly waning and I intend to do it fairly soon. Will be telling my wife tonight. A good video I saw yesterday might help. Not here by choice: Phyllis Shacter at TEDxBellingham : th-cam.com/video/tiYPaU3h3w8/w-d-xo.html God bless you and keep you close.
