2024 Recap | Birding Year
2024 was one hell of a rollercoaster for all of us! I had an amazing time birdwatching and photographing aves with family and friends. From the migratory birds in January, the Quails in the Monsoon and the passage migrants in October. It was great fun learning about new things! Hopefully 2025 will be even better giving all of us many rare birds and lifers!

Birding at Kistareddypet Lake | Migration
มุมมอง 11114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Kistareddypet Lake is a small lake near Hyderabad which gives perfect shores for many small birds like Sandpipers and Stints. This habitat is not found anywhere else near Hyderabad now due to encroachment of lakes and habitat destruction. This video also features a rare Greater Flamingo juvenile which visited the lake in December 2024.
Red Avadavat with Nesting Material | Sangareddy
มุมมอง 2828 วันที่ผ่านมา
Red Avadavats are small finch like birds which are often shy. They are found in fields and grasslands where they feed on grains. I found this individual in Manjeera Dam, Sangareddy, Telangana carrying nesting material with it to its nest.
Gray-necked Bunting | Yenkathala Grasslands
มุมมอง 77หลายเดือนก่อน
Gray-necked Buntings are winter migrants to India. In the Deccan plateau they are often seen near Scrub areas and Grasslands. They often feed early in the mornings and late in the evenings. At midday they go near some water body and hangout there. I saw them feeding on the road while approaching the grasslands.
Rain Quail | Yenkathala Grassland

The चातक (chatak) and बटेर (bater) are some commonly known birds which poets have included in their poems to signify rain. Monsoons in India can be beautiful and calming or beautiful and dangerous, either way, this seasonal change provides a red carpet for a spectacle that excites all birders, the monsoon symphony. Jacobin Cuckoo, Rain Quail, Jungle and Rock Bush Quail and Painted Francolin are...
Birding in Goa | October 2024
มุมมอง 3632 หลายเดือนก่อน
Goa situated on the west coast of India has a variety of habitats. From beaches, to the laterite plateaus bordered by the Western Ghats. Goa has it all! In this video we had explored the regions of Agassaim, Socorro, Dongrim, Salvador de Mundo, Neura and Baga. I used the Canon 90D with the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary Lens. Our bird guide was Mr. Savio Fonseca, you can contact him at: 9890927753
Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse | Mokila
มุมมอง 604 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouse is a small bird of the grasslands. It blends well with the surrounding environment but it is easier to spot in the monsoons as the entire habitat becomes green. Even then it is a task to actually spot, approach and photograph this bird. Here we saw many individuals on the shore of a lake foraging for food.
Spectacled Cobra - Old Magazine House
มุมมอง 3975 หลายเดือนก่อน
While looking for Red Spurfowls, I heard some rustling of leaves and saw this big spectacled cobra hanging out on some kind of a mini cliff hang. On seeing me it slowly crept away into the dense jungles of the Western Ghats. This proves that snakes are not out to kill us, they actually fear us and only bite us when forced to do so.

Hearty Congratulations bro
Thank you so much!
Lovely video Looking forward to visit Thattekad. Which is the best birding season to visit the place?
Thank you! Best season for seeing birds there is November-March as the winter migratory birds can be found at that time. If you wish to photograph Great-eared Nightjar, going just before monsoons can prove to be sucessful.

With true to speak to blogger, I suggest, that background music should not be added. I think that background music annoying very much to hear nature's own melodious and sweet sound. Apart that, I inspired by your blog and I, being a bird lover, also want to visit THATTEKAD for bird watching with telescopic camera. How I can reach that spot from HOWRAH RAILWAY JUNCTION STATION? ( WEST BENGAL). Please guide me actual train route and expenditure also.
Thanks for the feedback. You can get a train from Howrah to Kochi station, you can look up tickets and expenditure on IRCTC website.

Very Good explanation accurate ,mere ghar me dono hai, Doves Ghar ganda nahi karte mere garden ke chote se ped me rahte hai, Pegions mere relative ke buliding me. I love Doves for their calm behavior.
Thank you! Indeed doves are cleaner in their behaviour.
Birds are blessings of the creator Allah on human. All praises and worships go to Allah.
True... birds may never show up if you stop placing the feed or water...coz its my experience too.. i placed feed and water in my balcony to attract sparrows continuously for a long span of almost 90days when the first sparrow came an early morning.but it didnt eat the foxtail millet that i kept. Later i learnt they eat fox tail millet only with husk and i started placing them. Now two sparrows visit me everyday as if asking to feed them😊 6 to 7 am, 11 am to 12pm and 3 to 4pm. Happy to have them and expecting more.. What other grains or seeds do they eat? Will be happy if answered
Thats great! I have seen sparrows feeding on bajra and jowar millet in my balcony.
@@wildanirudh thanks for the reply. May I know if Bajra and jowar are with husk or without?
@@thejoyofloving I used it without husk but I am sure there is no problem with the husk too. You can also try planting the jowar plants to see them feed in the natural way!
@@wildanirudh yeah..good idea
