Hi. Interesting segment. Thanks. I wonder is your store still operating? Ebay store, website, any? I tried the ebay link but nothing or just says this seller has no items available in your (my) area. Im in central qld atm and trying to source some new bonsai and pre-bonsai material . Particularly more advanced scale junipers like shimpaku etc or needle varieties like mound . Jbp too probably no.2. Interested in your akadama etc if still do that? Never even heard of akadama from africa? But sounds good. )) Or is that like pumice or something and thats just what they call it ? Anyway if you get this and have anything like that to rid yourselves of or have any advice or recommendations as such id much appreciate.

Can be sure, if you need hundreds and go to a store abd pay 15-20 bucks for a tiny seedling and all. Or buy them advanced. But they grow from seed easily and readily as well as cutting and air layering, graft well too. And you can go out for a walk past a maccas or whatever and collect a couple handfuls of the masses of little berries/seed pods they get after covered in lovely little fragrant flowers (reminiscent of bout my favourite scent from something I'm not engaged to, jasmine! Even better jasmine on something stunningly beautiful that I am engaged too! 😍 Hold your nose though cause even they cant hide that maccas smell 🤢) Go home break em up gently in a tub of water aand get thousands of good viable seeds that are hard NOT to germinate. Pit em in little pots or trays or beds to grow til big enough and make big a hedge as you want for next to nothing. Or break a branch off a mates overgrown bush or when someones pruning hedges etc, get some rooting powder and make many little cuttings as you'll need, plus some extra . Or if have access to some big leggy bushes... go air layer a bunch of long thick branches, come back cut and plant them and you can have near established height hedge plants real quick. Or a bunch of standard lollipop topiaries or bonsai starters whatever. You can also get lots of different varieties great for different purposes. Standard ones for larger hedges and such, down to beautiful mini murraya compact forms for easy low hedges and borders , cool shapes and topiary, or nice little bonsai with a very tree-like appearance and the leaves cam be reduced down to near nothing so scales no problem. The small berries and flowers work great too for bonsai. And these establish way quicker than likevsome of the box /buxus varieties and others. (Admittedly which I love too but... but idk how to finish this sentence) Anyway if you're short on $ I'd think these are one of the best to be looking at fir hedges and stuff long as you have access to a couple bushes locally. Preferably several varieties. And if patient it's negligible difference in time to get an established hedge that way than buying even 200mm pots from nursery's.

    • @Berrigansnursery

Thank you for your comment. As you can see in the video we are going from a larger pot into a smaller bonsai pot. Doing this while the plant was young means we do not have to remove so much of the root system which would cause more stress on the plant. Living in Australia we have hot weather most of the year which the plants love.
