      Thank you! It was only luck. I poured the glazing on the pot and didn’t get it even on all sides. The orange tint is a spot where the layer is thin so the color of the clay shows better. I like it too! It suits the tree so well. Cheers from a Finland where the nights are below zero! 🥶

    Love your work! And thank you for your video. Just a few questions. What would you consider the best thickness of the walls for a pinch pot of that size? Plus, I am wanting to create a vessel that starts from a fairly narrow base and flairs out creating a wide rim. Should I create it over a period of time to let the clay set up as I go to stop the sides slumping? Or would I be better off creating a smaller pinch pot as the base and then building up with coils? ( I think I may have answered my own question ☺)

    • @clayeasy
      @clayeasy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your kind words! .. and yes, I think you answered your own question! I think the best way for your project might be to build by pinching a base, and building with coils from there. It’s easier to have control of the shape and the drying aswell. You can add coils little by little, use a hair drier if you want to speed up the drying etc. I usually cover the rim with a piece of plastic so that it is easy to add new coils, even if the rest of the pot starts drying. Remember to slip and score! It would be lovely to see your work! Cheers from Finland!

    • @clayeasy
      @clayeasy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Jessica! It was actually fun to make it. It’s difficult for me to believe from this video that this a completely punched pot: you do not show the entire process of pinching it - could be a speeded up part, and there are lines visible that make me think that you actually coiled part of it . Unless you call coiling also pinching ? 😊

    • @clayeasy
      @clayeasy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there Gail! and thanks for your comments! Yeas, I missed showing it all.. But there is no coiling in this! When I pull up the clay from the inside it builds up like this sausage close to the rim. It's probably because I worked more on pulling on the inside than on the outside. I'm sorry I didn't show the whole process, but if you look at the first part of this video ( at between 6 and 7 minutes into the clip) you can see how this clay builds up at the rim. Here is a link to the first part: www.youtube.com/watch? v=GcV2z_do5_o&ab_channel=EasySculptingChannel Thank you for letting me know, I kind of missed thinking about showing the whole process.. I will soon make an even bigger pinch pot, then I'll speed it up and will not leave out any parts of the work. Promise that you look at it then and give me a comment? Thank you! Yes, I think it suits this pot with raw edges! My wife hasn't figured out what to plant in it yet but there is plenty of spring and summer left. Cheers!

      Hello there! I order my clay from a shop here in Finland that specializes on ceramics. The clay is originally from England. I hope I could be helpful. Cheers! Mika in Finland

      I enjoy the decorative pieces you make (like this one, and many of the others) because I use clay I find in my yard and it won't fire high enough to be 'food safe'.

      @@ladyw6773 Oh! that's nice! interesting.. How high can you burn your garden-clay? I'd love to try that too sometimes!

    • @ladyw6773
      @ladyw6773 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@clayeasy from my understanding, not higher than bisque. While I haven't fired any of my pieces yet, all the research I've done says it's most likely terracotta and therefore can't get much higher than bisque. I will be pit firing. If I had a kiln, I could better test for highest temperature. But I'm happy to experiment with what I have available 😊

    Very interested to know more about each firing, how long each and what were the cool down times. Thanks

    • @clayeasy
      @clayeasy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello there! I’m sorry, but I don’t know the specs for the cooling time etc. I just chose the right program on this automatic kiln. First fire is in 650*C and the other in 1250*C. I’m always confused when people talk about cone 3 or 5 etc. because I use this auto-mode. On the second kiln I use, set the power for the first stage to 20% , second stage to 50% and final heat only for 15 or 20 minutes. I have to admit, I’m new with the kiln and all the fine adjustments, Trial and error, but never too hot! Cheers from a Finland in spring (finally)!

    How do get it so perfectly while I struggle to make the eye socket alone?!

    • @clayeasy
      @clayeasy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Griffin! Give it time. It usually seems rough and ”not right” at first. When the clay has dried up a little bit, it’s easier to get it smooth. You can use a knife or a tool to carve in the leather hard clay too. Good luck! And cheers from Finland!

    Very cool! If the tail would have been bigger, that's a great opportunity to make it the handle! The other one you showed, at the end, made me think of an egg. You could do dino feet on the bottom, like they're hatching out 😊

    • @clayeasy
      @clayeasy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! I didn’t show the tail of the middle one, but that tail is perfect as a handle, fits with the pinky finger. The white one is my tea mug, I might make one more with Dino-feet 😎

      That’s a pitty! I hope your wrists and fingers get better! Have you tried with softer, wet clay? Or use the surface that you work on ,more than your hands.. I hope you can continue without pain. ❤️
