I have a question the gear on my valve train has a lot of play in it and it’s only tight in certain areas of rotation. Is there a problem inside of there my timing chain slung off because my tensioner was bad and im trying to fix it.
How do you torque down the cam sprocket? My chain seems to slip when I try to torque it to 43ftlbs. Then I have to try to time all over again. I have the chain tensioner on before I torque it and I am certain the chain is on the lower sprocket.
Loosen the auto timing chain tensioner and take the sprocket off when you take it off you don’t want to put it too far down that the chain comes off the crank sprocket and move the chain on the top sprocket until it’s lined up both marks
I used your coupling nut idea and it worked like a charm, I cant think of an easier or cheaper way of making this required tool "$4" at Home Depot. Recommend bringing in your 19mm socket to make sure you get the right size. Thanks again!
Great video , however I'm curious to ask if there's any particular specifications for the timing chain adjuster ?? Mine failed and I just got the new part today , so tomorrow I'm gonna sort the timing out and put the new adjuster in .... It's a first time for me really so I'm hopeful it's just plug and play .. Any helpful ??
On the newer engines with no T the only time all 4 marks will line up (with new chain and cam gear) is when the crank rotor is on the third mark. I--I I
From experience it's the three marks, two that's close and one that's by itself .. the one that's by itself is the right one .. technically the first one
You could have gotten the allen screw out prior to unscrewing the fork tube cap while still under pressure it will break loose without the tool and the make shift extension you made
Also the TW200 is the biggest POS bike. If you want to buy a brand new bike and after 5,000 miles tare the engine down then buy this POS bike. I have one. Its a POS. Did I mencion its a POS? Yes. It is. Sorry A55 Yamaha can even build an engine correctly. What a sad machine. Really, after 30 -some years, you would think they could get something right. F%$^K YAMAHA and the TW200 sorry A55 POS worthless bike
its not important to put the pistons on like he does, just snatch the bore off then compress the rings with your hands and drop it back in. No need to put the transmission in a gear or any BS like that. Then at the last moment, slip the o-ring in and make sure it does not fall in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The “T” means top dead center, it is just to the right of the actual timing mark!

You need to take the timing chain off if you’re adjusting the timing You cant just leave everything hooked up lol

You make a big deal about un-important things like the piston and rings and then leave the big deal un noticed like the o-ring.
yes the rings were no problem to compress by hand and install back into the bore
The guide just rest down in that pocket? No clip or anything special holding it down?
