says there is cultural pressure to get married, yet does a 10 year on/off relationship (from what i know that is not behaviour indian girls are encouraged to do or any girl for that matter)...then turns down all these marriage proposals...has autonomy to be in a 10 year fling, and has autonomy to reject the proposals and choose a divorced guy who can't speak who is fathering a child with another woman, not sure what that has to do with cultural pressure? She is still harking on about this 2-3 years on, she's is not well and need in depth therapy. You just cannot be in love or call someone the love of your life when you haven't properly met them. This is not normal at all. Why is she raising awareness of extreme isolated things, she thought this was a widespread issue but it is not. poor girl has no understanding of attachment or what is healthy.

Look up Renae Marsden. She was a victim of catfishing in Australia and committed suicide in 2013. There was a coronial inquest on it. Catfishing should be a serious crime, those who blame the victim or think it wasn’t a big deal, people actually die over this, the psychological impact is immense. The laws need to change to protect people and punish the perpetrator.

She still didn’t get how twisted the situation was and she used her logic to pursue her suspicions on Bobby two timing her but never to question how the whole thing wasn’t piecing together coherently …she’s showing bubble fatigue ! Btw consider what you would do if a random aurat showed up at your door like you did …they could have someone behind them waiting to barge in …get out of your bubble Kirat ! The aurat could be a ruse !

Upon listening to the podcast I immediately knew that there is a lot of cultural context that laypeople may not understand. I will continue to consume more Desi content in the hopes of clearing it all up. Theres also elements of this case related to the larger internet culture that the families themselves may not understand. Very complex and terrifying case, and the missing pieces just make it even more compelling.

I was catfished by this gorgeous doctor that looked like a model. I was in my late teens, it took me 3 days to release this was a catfish, she was my age now when her catfishing started. Like she knew his family couldn’t she asked one of his cousins I’m sure it would of got back to him. When she met him in real life he didn’t act like he knew her, that would be a major red flag I would have taken him outside to speak. She was extremely vulnerable and believed the lies because the truth was so much more painful.

She wants desperately to blame her behavior on the pressures that south Asian families put on you to get married. But it makes no sense because her actions actually went AGAINST her getting married and more so leaned towards her subconsciously avoiding marriage. I think that’s something she should explore with a licensed clinical psychotherapist. A woman desperate for marriage doesn’t get strung along for 18 years by a man. She also doesn’t jump down this strange rabbit hole with someone that didn’t even recognize her when she saw him at a club and notices he never mentions it. Instead she would have been on dating apps getting love bombed and married too quickly to anyone that would have her scammer be damned. Her actions line up with someone that isn’t actually emotionally available for actual intimacy and love. That’s why she always took her ex back and did the dance with him so long. Deep down she knew he wouldn’t commit but it was an excuse. Deep down she knew Bobby’s story was BS that’s why she didn’t question things or research. Witness protection? Girl you knew damned well. There is something else keeping her in this cycle. Maybe she is actually lesbian and suppressing it because it’s frowned upon in their culture, maybe her cousin simran knows something we don’t. It doesn’t have to be that of course, there are many reasons people do things to avoid real intimacy and it could be something as simple as having had her ❤ broken in middle school or rejection. I also think she deep down knew simran was complicit and that’s why she was willing to go along with her insistence. She is an extremely avoidant person. She let herself use Bobby to avoid self care and responsibilities in life to the point she had dark circles and was losing weight.

The story is wild and Simran should be make accountable for what she did... but, it creeps me out when she speaks of Bobby as if they DID had a real relationship, and I know it was real for her at the momment, but she stills refers as if he had say or done some things or had some sort of connection with her... and the real Bobby refers to her in the doc as "this lady". It is so unfair for him & his family that this woman talks as she was part os his life

What genocide these guys r talking about? If it's abt a supposed Sikh genocide then it's definitely not true. A prime minister involved in a prolonged Sikh genocide would not have kept Sikh bodyguards which led to her death. This lone facts shows Indira was doing what atleast she thought was her job. We can debate her decisions but definitely she didn't hate Sikh community if that's what these people r trying to prove.

And there was intel about Pakistan launching an attack. And when you think about Pakistan you also think abt USA. USA sent his seventh fleet in 1971 you must know that. It is unfortunate that Khalistani extremists used 1984 as a cause to advance their agenda. Its clear it was done by congress to divide Hindus and Sikhs. But violence, bullying and drug smuggling is all being done by Khalistani extremists. Sikhs do deserve peace and justice for 84 but they should equally speak out against Khalistanis who are using them as pawns too. Crazy world we live in. Khalistanis also blame Hindus for everything similar to how Hitler blamed the Jews for everything.

Obviously a vulnerable person and her cousin knew that. Bottom line if someone refuses to meet or doesn't do a video call you cut ties and move on. The problem is the mind. When you put someone on a pedastal when you haven't met them you are screwed. She allowed it to go on for far too long. To be honest... She seems a little strange. If she had friends and family around her they would have called this out also. If they all knew and went along with it... Its even weirder lol. Asian parents would be making their own enquiries straight away and would have gotten to the bottom of this. So there's obviously some weird power dynamic going on at home where it's almost like her parents have given up being involved in her life.

What about the innocent Sikhs and Hindus who were killed by Sikh terrorists before Jun 1984? Even today people are scared to say what they went through before govt action on those hiding in the golden temple. Nothing was planned against Sikhs but govt action was necessary because the then Punjab govt was not capable to control the gang/terror culture because of reprisals!
