The Gun is Good!

I remember the Ralph McQuarrie design work he did for both franchises. We have to keep in mind that the Snowtrooper design came *after* the Cylon concepts which were at least 2 years out ahead of the Empire work he did. Given how much pressure McQuarrie was under, he was also working on concept artwork for Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind movie as well in the same time frame as Star Wars and Galactica, and if that wasn't enough, he also was doing concept art for the early Star Trek movie effort Planet of Titans (the infamous Star Destroyer Enterprise design comes to mind). So, it shouldn't come as any real surprise that he wound up consciously or unconsciously reusing bits and bobs in design themes from one production to another in order to meet deadlines or because he maybe thought a good idea that was rejected for one might work on another.

You ever thought about doing something like the 2nd edition 40K Necron Raiders, Lord, Destroyer, and Immortals? I'd love to see retro robotic undead with the weapon options from the modern list rendered in 2nd edition style.

I remember these, good old fashioned “Mesh” armour, or Mesh & Flak combo. Looks amazing!
