Yes and no. I'm an engineering student and in many of our courses, especially for the first 2 years we were not allowed any help on our exams aside for our brains and pens. It's because knowing the maths, formulas and concepts is crucial in understanding.

You can’t go on to harder more complex problems if you don’t have the basic knowledge required to understand those problems. AI will only help people who go through the basics thoroughly and knows exactly what AI is doing in the background. The complaint that people are getting stupid is legitimate.

This is what I’m saying 100% Ai is not a way to get more lazy, it’s a way to allocate less time doing time wrenching tasks, and focus on more complex tasks, using ai as a tool to facilitate that growth.

There's a difference between the research grade AI and the consumer grade AI. The biggest assumption that the general public has about, let's say, ChatGPT, is that it is accurate and precise some negligible amount of the time. And therefore does not need to be reviewed. When even the researchers using the research grade AI still review the results that the AI spits out irregardless of what version or percentage of error there is inherent with the AI. It's still only a tool and not a means to an end.
