And gifts to Danish colleagues are uncommon, except for group gifts on "round" birthdays, such as 30, 40, 50, or 60. This chapter will give you some insights into birthday cu...

มุมมอง 31หลายเดือนก่อน
While Danish business culture emphasizes team spirit, co-workers in Denmark don't spend much time together outside the workplace enjoying team sports or the pub. Most social contact with your Danish associates will be coffee breaks when someone brings a cake, team lunches, and semi-annual corporate parties like the Danish julefrokost, aka Christmas party. มุมมอง 26หลายเดือนก่อน
Chic, innovative Danish fashion is a hit on the runways, but it isn't what everyday Danes wear to work. In a Danish workplace, subtle colors and high-end fabrics are appreciated, and a shirt or sweater and a nice pair of trousers will fit almost any occasion. Business suits and dresses are not required; women who do choose to wear skirts usually wear long, loose ones suitable for bicycling. Loo...

มุมมอง 24หลายเดือนก่อน
Newcomers to Denmark sometimes struggle with Danish meeting culture, which can seem informal but has very strict rules. Legendary might not be real.. despite the legends were and refers back in time...... then to be real should be able to be proven then scientifically else if that's not the case then anyone can postulate anything... which.. can u imagine.. they might also have done so back in time (made up stories)? That's why a scientific approach to legends also is important

you dont have to speak Danish in denmark . but remember . dark humor and sarcism play into this . not many cultures understand this line of thought . and can feel unconfy around the danes and Scandinavians in general . to learn the language takes 2-3 years of schooling . but the culture will take a lifetime to learn

I have been interested in learning about Danish culture since I was a teen and find your podcasts valuable. I think Americans overdo it with the need to give/receive positive feedback and it's to the point where it actually takes away from the core values of efficiently completing the work. The American Human Resources profession has done a lot to contribute to this. For my own amusement, I like to see how many times and who uses the work "excited" at business meetings. For example, I am excited to be here, I was excited when I was asked to give this presentation, I am excited to meet you, etc. Its way overdone or as a colleague of mine likes to express it, all foam no beer. Tak.

You made a small mistake. It's "københavnersnuder", which translates into copenhagensnouts. The implication is not that they cheat, but that they think that they are better, and know better than the Jutes. They have their noses/snouts in the air.

"Gud bevare Danmark" could be translated "God protect Denmark" but more accurately it's "God preserve Denmark" as in keep it safe in perpetuity. I wonder if Frederik will use the same words to end his addresses.

Den indre svinehund comes from the German insult "schweinhund". Because of its German origin the Danes use the term "indre svinehund" to describe bigotry and closet racism rather than using it as a general insult.
