Thank you so much
Loving the series
Appreciate the efforts.
Great video. P.s. I ran into a problem while following the video tutorial-I couldn’t move the labels, even after setting 'label x' and 'label y' for the x and y placements. So, I decided to try using ‘Name' as a feature ID instead, and that did the trick! If anyone else is stuck on this, give it a shot-might work for you too.
Thanks sir
amazing
Thank you
Actually i did not found the URL
Which URL are you talking about? Did you check the video details?
How to magnify the text or labels size of google map? It's too small
Google Maps are served as tiles of images, so there's no way to increase their font size. Check out my video on OpenStreetMap to get an idea of how you can change the style of an OSM vector layer: th-cam.com/video/C-nvk10xXM8/w-d-xo.html
Thank you a lot for your precise work! :)
Thank you for this, Lost Mapper! I appreciate the work you've put in to make this task so easy!
Thank you so much!
Hola estimado, podrias hacer un tutorial de como instalar el postgis shapefile manager en macOS o como agregar varias capas, ya que el ejemplo que muestras es solo con una. Gracias de antemano.
Thank you! I also tried adding the Google Maps raster through XYZ tiles via the URL but nothing showed. But yours worked. Not sure why??
Are you talking about the URL for lostmapper.com/qgis-xyz-tiles/? Did you make sure to click Select All when importing them?
Amazing content
Thank you so much!
@@lostmapper One question: If I have a polygon layer which represents let’s say the state of New York, and I have another polygon layer which represents the borough of Brooklyn in New York. How can I make a ring/hole erasing the Brooklyn part in the New York layer? Hope that makes sense. Thanks!
Hey. Sorry for the delay. I thought I already responded to this but I guess it didn't go through. You likely want to use Vector > Geoprocessing Tools > Difference to "subtract" the Brooklyn layer from the New York layer.
I just want to say, these videos have been incredibly helpful to me on my journey to learn how to use this software. Thank you very much!
I'm so glad they've been helping you out. And comments like these are really helpful to me!
BTW I am trying to edit a layer on QGIS in order to amend a land boundary polygon within another polygon (within the same shape file) what is the best way to do this accurately? Thanks in advance
Can you share some more information/image about what you're trying to do? What is the amendment? Feel free to hit me up on Mastodon if you have an image to share: mapstodon.space/@lostmapper
Good vid
il est de retour
Is that a full-blown Postgres database with POSTGIS already enabled or is that ONLY postgis ... stupid question I know, but I want to be sure nothing is lacking here. Many thanks for the video BTW
You can't have PostGIS without PostgreSQL - PostGIS is an extension for PostgreSQL. So yes, it's a full blown Postgres database with PostGIS extensions enabled.
nice intro - glad you included creating a role. good advice :-)
Thank you! I figured it was good for security reasons and also for keeping things consistent between the macOS and Windows setups.
Thanks for sharing, beautiful video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Useful ! Thanks
Glad you found it useful!
Much appreciated, Brian!
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you brian interesting video subscriber and liked the video for more readability
TIL about the qNote plugin. Instantly installed it. TY!
I’m glad you found it useful!
Encore une fois merci beaucoup ❤
:D I only learned while I studied in Rio de Janeiro that the longest border France has with any other country was with Brazil, through French Guyane (pronounced ~"gwi-yann"). Another fun looking map!
I ended up reading about the border on Wikipedia after this debacle today :-)
:D It's definitely not in Europe, unless the title of the column is "Continent of the colonial power holding that territory". 😅
Now I want to fly an Airwolf...
I never played Airwolf but I did play a game called... Skyfox :-D
merci
Things that had never occurred to me before watching: the idea of having an image label (blob fields are so cool!), and the sheer genius of rotating the whole map to enhance your emphasis on select businesses. Thanks for sharing!
"Genius" you say? I like your perspective on my laziness! I just wanted an easy way for the labels and images to line up nicely next to the road :-)
Danger Mouse!
I loved that cartoon as a kid. Watched it on Nickelodeon all the time. I used to have a framed poster like this shirt but I have no idea where it got to.
You are doing great sir, keep going. Love from Nepal.
Thank you so much!
impressionnant
Thank you, I appreciate it!
This is super cool! Watching someone who really knows their way around QGIS is wildly helpful; thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Please let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see explained in QGIS.
tres claire

Hello Brian, I would like to thank you again for your availability to share your knowledge with us. Yes, I really appreciate this video full of lessons that I never received. I agree that you are a good and excellent teacher. I always stay connected to your channel and let myself be guided by you. Yes I see that you in the USA did not speak French there. I write in Fr and translate into ANG using Google. I am impatiently waiting in your videos for a course dedicated to Senegal, it would be a pleasure. THANKS
Good day sir, I am writing to you from Senegal, I am very happy with you, I do not have the words to thank you. I find your videos very interesting, even I won't hide it from you, you have taught me a lot of things that I never saw at school or also from my work colleagues. I am grateful to you, very grateful indeed Today I spent all my time watching all of your videos, you explain things in a very clear way. I have a love for GIS I am passionate, please never stop your videos continue to surprise us gave courses it is thanks to you that I know hidden things. May the good Lord keep you and give you health and many things to you!
merci pour la video
Thank you very much for the video, it was very interesting to follow the development - from the first motivation to the (almost finished) map.
Thank you so much for your feedback - I'm glad you found it interesting! Somebody helped me figure out a better way to manage the labeled images so I'm hoping to return to this project and make another video showing its completion, ideally a little more streamlined.
I'm impatiently waiting for this video, I have to do it but I can't, I don't know why@@lostmapper

Thank you!
Nice explanation on the differences between the three methods. One addition to the Aggregate function, you can actually edit the Length and Precision fields in the aggregate dialogue box, just doubleclick the value.
Thank you! I realized you could change the length after I recorded. Hopefully folks will notice the "Small Correction" popup I added there.
I'm also just realizing that even though I realized this during editing, I should've just recorded an extra little bit showing that one can edit those fields by clicking on them. Next time!
Excellent video! Very clearly explained. Thanks for you work! Gotta say I kinda like your new United States, where some States are more United than others, never mind distances. And gotta love them being more united because same str(len) 😅 Also, nice guitars there, mate.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad that States example came across, even with the grouping being such a ridiculous bit of logic. And I always feel compelled to tell people that I think I own more guitars than scales I know...
@@lostmapper It's a good way to show the tool's capabilities, anyway. You could aggregate them by state's GDP range, or miles of rural roads or whatever. And about scales, my very orthodox jazz guitar teacher used to say that you can never know enough scales because there are too many, but then again major, minor and blues/pentatonic will get you pretty far.
thanks for making QGIS Tutorials. Really helpful for beginners and you have a good way of explaining things.
Thank you so much for the feedback!
👍
also waiting for your next upload spec. excited to watch you discuss different vector layers, and how to use it into any projects 🙏
The episode on polygons should be up by the end of this week. It's already written up. I'll be recording it today or tomorrow.
thank you this helps a lot for a beginner like me!
So glad you've found my videos helpful!
