I think you should try. I have not been able to find out if it only applies to new accounts or not. Its possible that you will be able to apply to jobs if your profile is older

I'm not sure. Its unclear if the new policy affects old accounts or just brand new accounts. One of my viewers pointed out that he still received connects on his old account even though he is a free user, so it is possible you could still apply to jobs. I can't test it though since I dont have an old account where I never invested to get connects. I hope someone will answer your question, I'd love to know the answer too

If you can't pas for connects or the freelancer plus membership, I suppose your only remaining option on Upwork is to find jobs through project catalog

@@Nahom-ih5xc Yes, thats what I am saying, but for users who buy at least once 15 dollars or more of connects or 1 month or more of freelancer plus subscription, they will get the free connects again every month just like before, even if they stop paying completely.

Upwork stopped giving connects to free accounts until they pay at least once to either by about 20$ worth of connects or subscribe at least once to the freelancer plus premium membership. This is great because there will be less competition at the beginner level. You can either pay that 20 dollars to get started or check out my video about how to get jobs on Upwork without connects which will teach you how to create projects that clients can buy from you directly instead of applying to job postings made by clients.

I disagree, but I empathize with the people who have a bad experience on the platform. Though I suggest looking at ways to improve rather than blame upwork

they try to take your personal information to retarget you with other scams or to open credit cards in your name and then proceed to get you into debt or they try to convince you to send them money using excuses like "you need to get your company ID card" or "you need to send 50 dollars to the shipping or software company to receive your tools" or "you need to pay the 50 dollar fee to register with our payment provider so you can get paid for the 2 months of work you just did" (and then they keep your work and your money and never pay you). If you talk with them on telegram, lots of bad stuff can happen, and there are more things they can do. Stay safe, keep communication on the Upwork platform.
