I don't why people have to separate birds babies from their parents.? people don't release that is painful to be separated.

I have a 26-year-old cockatiel that I've had since I was a kid. If I have one big regret, it's not being able to teach him to free fly. He's too old to learn now, and he never fully developed his flight muscles, so he can only fly in short bursts, at least enough to "parachute" to the ground. But I'm confident I've given him the best life I can. I hope you're doing the same with Niji.

Does this have to be done from that young of an age? or can you train your bird after like 1-2 years to free fly? using Millet or smthn, and then follow the same steps like step up to recall to blind recall. can you then after take you bird outside to free fly train? or do they have to be hand fed at a VERY young age? is there ANY other option
