analog effect in touchdesigner (tutorial)
มุมมอง 7K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I explain how to achieve an analog look reminiscent of a film reel or CRT monitor in touchdesigner. I make use of rgbDelay, Bloom, Lens Distort and other operators. I show three different examples that use similar methods (a colourful film reel-like visual, an oscilloscope-like visual and a signal glitch/CRT monitor-like visual). Glitch and scan-line effects could be combined with...
a different approach to particle systems (touchdesigner tutorial)
มุมมอง 23K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video is a touchdesigner tutorial explaining a simple way of making particle systems (or particle clouds/point clouds) in touchdesigner (instead of using particlesGPU or the Particles SOP). I use instancing in the geometry COMP with noise TOPs defining the position and movement of the particles. It can achieve a structured/controlled yet somewhat noisy particle effect. It makes it easy to ...
I tried cassette tape hacking (to make lofi/ambient sounds)
มุมมอง 1.4K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
I tried making lofi/ambient music with tapes. I made a tape loop and changed the speed of the tape player. I used a second-hand Sony tape player/recorder. Check out my instagram where I post clips of the stuff I make: ph4se.space Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction to cassette tape hacking 00:32 Getting a tape player/recorder 01:14 Making a tape loop 03:07 Recording sounds from a comp...
I tried learning modular synthesis for free (vcv rack)
มุมมอง 3.6Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show what I have managed to achieve after a couple of weeks of learning modular synthesis as a beginner. I use VCV Rack which is free modular synth software. I start with going over the basics and then I show the first few patches that I made in VCV Rack. If you like what I do, consider “buying me a coffee” / tipping me via my kofi (I could really use the extra £s right now): ko...
I Tried Making Generative Art with Touch Designer

Robot takes your phone away when it's time to work
มุมมอง 2.1Kปีที่แล้ว
A badly made robot consisting of an Arduino, miniature winch, servo, seven segment display and cardboard that takes your phone away when it's time to work and gives it back when you can take a break. It has a timer so could be used with the pomodoro method (if it actually worked well....) Basically this turned out to be a funny and terrible robot that falls apart.

Generating new and strange synth sounds with AI
มุมมอง 2.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I programmed a machine learning algorithm that generates virtual synthesizer patches using Max for Live in Ableton (I used Javascript inside Max). First I use an evolutionary novelty search algorithm and then I add an interface so that I can teach the algorithm to produce good synth patches based on my preferences. It could be a good tool for music production and sound design, especially in con...
I Turned an Old Keyboard into a Midi Controller
มุมมอง 28K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I turn a cheap, old, charity shop (thrift store) electronic keyboard piano into a cool midi controller. I added drum pads, including one that can be used as a kick drum, that operate on a different midi channel to the keyboard, so that I can play two instruments with the midi controller at the same time. I also added a joystick for pitch bend and control change midi messages. Circuit diagram an...

What an amazing tutorial! I'm just getting started with TD so this is really helpful, thank you!🥰 I have a question about the last part, when I add the geometry node - I can't connect it to the transform node. It pops up with a donut shape, which I've tried removing "inside it" by double clicking. But then it doesn't connect to the render node and nothing happens at all🤨 not sure what I'm doing wrong!

I wanna get into generative to make stuff like this, mainly flow fields. I haven’t done any type of coding since I was in 11th grade which was 13 years ago (geez). Where should I start with coding and how much do I need to know so I can get started with creating stuff like this?

Hi, thank you so much for this tutorial. I am building some late 80's early 90's backgrounds for my music and this is just perfect! May I offer one small piece of tutorial advice? You turn off your op viewers as your working. For me, this makes it hard to see where I have gone off course because the visual aids are not there. For those without a ton of experience, it's very easy to get lost without the opviewers. Just a small suggestion. Thank you for the very cool tutorials!

Hm, I have no issue with the file even after I re-download it, I'm wondering if there was a touchdesigner update that has changed its behaviour. I still have version 2022.32660, can you tell me which version of touchdesigner you're using?

You file on Gumroad is broken by the way. Took a lot of debugging. Please make sure you have somehwat working files before you start charging for these things.

    • @ph4sespace
      @ph4sespace 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi, I checked the file and indeed there was a parameter reference in the resolution of the noise TOPs after the base that referenced the wrong operator. I have re-uploaded the file, so if you go on gumroad and download it again (you should find the link in the email you received after purchase) it will be fixed. The error didn't break the main effect though so I'm not sure why extensive debugging would have been required - maybe a different version of touchdesigner breaks it?
