African hypocrisy forced me out of Uganda | Diaspora Stories | @edwardmukiibi
British blood, but Ugandan born. Meet @edwardmukiibi, listen as he explains why he moved his family from his country of birth to London, U.K. for greener pastures.
This is a hard hitting episode as Edward shares things like the domestic violence he witnessed as a child, economic hardship in Kampala as an educated banker, his joy at seeing Arsenal stadium for the first time, the racism he experienced in addition to his antidote to address it.

I think people don’t find it necessary to say their tribe on internet a lot other tribes use luganda but will not say their tribes
Whatever people feel comfortable with - thanks for watching Joe!
Akram wa kulthum😂
@edwardmukiibi what do you make of this comparison?
Enjoyed this conversation 😊
I'm glad - @edwardmukiibi is too funny
He reminds of uncle Akram imagine.🤗🤗
What about Edward reminds you of uncle Akram?
I like this guy. His positive and trying to make the best of his life in the UK. That trauma he experienced as a child was so bad. He learned so much from his childhood experiences and has made big strides to improve his well-being for himself and children. In Africa, abuse has been normalized. it's so bad.
Thank you for this message. 😊
Thanks for watching - it's a shame domestic abuse in many places around the world is so common. This will change by God's grace
I am your Ob from Namirembe Hillside. I remember you I think Were you in the class that had their classes in timberland?
Thanks OB. I was in Hillside Arts class from 2008 to 2009. 😊

Wow $4,000 for Hospital transport is CRAZY!!! - Interesting story from Tadala, I've always been intrigued about the country of Zim, so will visit there really soon... She's clearly done well for herself and her family + found the ideal partner upgrade at London Met Uni 😉... Excellent video Nor! - Stay blessed ladies 🙏

Interesting video. Uganda is facing a serious brain drain. Professionals fleeing in search of greener pastures 😢
Thanks for watching Arthur! How can we solve this brain drain issue in Uganda?
I equally believe if you relocate to another country for kyeyo and you find the atmosphere okay, just settle there instead of living a double minded life..we only live once
Being present/happy where you are is hard. It's contentment, which is not an easy practice, but would benefit us all - thanks for watching! :)

Canada gives first priority to Canadians even when it comes to teaching at the university. For example, if you did your PHD. in Canada and wanted to teach, you first have to be a PR. The first priority is given to Canadians. My friend had to wait to get her PR to apply for assistance professor positions.
That's really harsh, Canada was the ideal place for some time but clearly things have changed. We need to make sure we do our research, before making big decisions.
Uganda needs you. Money comes Money GOES.
It does indeed. Thanks for watching🙂
Uganda needs her, and yes, money goes and comes, but it's difficult to do your work well on an empty stomach. Ugandan govt has the funds to pay doctors and teachers well but they choose not to.
Am a fellow medic but it's better to work were in a more appreciated and paid better it all ends with we all want money and better life. Have you seen how doctors strike to get salary
You're right@@Flourish_today our leaders need to do more. In the meantime, we have to do what we can to thrive in this life

i found that shocking and it was definately deliberate that they dont teach about colonisation in UK schools. They do teach us in Uganda though so atleast we won't just forget

so glad Ugandan food is much easier to find these days.. i only felt that i could stay here when i found matooke (commenting as i watch)
