I have trapped hundreds of feral cats. Almost always, once a cat has been trapped, they become this wise to how a trap works; it is not uncommon for a cat to figure out how to not trip the mechanism that closes the door. Years ago, I was trapping near our home and one of our indoor/outdoor cats knew the deal, I think he could smell my scent on the trap or the bait. He would go in to eat the food, knowing I would be along to let him out. He was smart. He had me trained.

Cats are fine creatures but nothing makes it harder to win over people who are not yet into cats, than the knee jerk reactions of cat karens. This is his property, a cat may have been making noise on his roof. You let your cat roam, accept the consequences. Besides, there is no proof that he is going to abuse it in anyway. Maybe he wants to prove to the neighbour that the cat is causing a nuisance. Maybe he realises there's a stray prowling about and he wants to bring it inside for a good life, the way it's supposed to be. It's not like you never take cats to vets in cat carriers. It's not like cats don't voluntarily crawl into boxes all the time. Cat karens pretend to be slobbering cat slaves, but in truth, it's not the cats but themselves who are extremely entitled and don't respect other people's property and preferences. Cat trap construction is showing & explaining its parts & how they were made. This would be helpful. This jsut shows a cat being trapped, & its behaviour. Once they traps have got a few on film any problems will start to be revealed which is additional interest.
