@Br0zer0 lol there are so many scenarios in rimworld force you to suffer, and you can't possibly prepare for everything perfectly, especially for new and casual players.... after each dlc, it's just making base design more and more demanding. You gotta build your base to defend from every possible scenario asap, which can be a daunting task.

This feels like the story for the next colony. “What do we do?” “This time, we are ready”

When I was little my pet hamster Pebbles went missing. The cat seemed uninterested in our search for some reason.

With the Nat 1 I rolled we just accepted our fate.

@@Br0zer0 Since we are on it: consider rushing to smithing and plate armor. Plate armor by itself will be a huge boost to your survivability. and you'll get to fueled smithy a lot faster than you will to electric infrastructure to start building guns and flak armor. Top shelf (legendary) plate armor is equivalent to baseline Cataphract armor in terms of stats, for context here. Its primary downside is the speed debuff it comes with, its actually really good armor. Incidentally, Legendary *Plasteel* Plate Armor is as good as Excellent quality Cataphract; and Biopherrite is a near 1:1 equivalent to Plasteel for sharp protection, with a 10% lower value on heat and blunt protection. So Biopherrite or Plasteel Plate Armor made by a really good crafter at legendary quality is something available as a near-term option to you. If you have a good crafter.

Wow, that is helpful. I have always skipped plate thinking it was bad and used flak. Good info. I may switch to plate right away next session.

@@Br0zer0 Personally I have several thousands hours in the game and even I only just recently learned that plate armor is actually better than flak if you have a good crafter, and is near-tier with powered armors, it just has a really severe movespeed penalty. It should be noted that flak armor is still technically better if you don't have a crafter that can get you to legendary tier plate armor and are playing the standard Rimworld start. Plate is mostly only worth it for tribal start because you get access to it sooner than flak, it has a smaller work value cost than a full flak set, doesn't cost any components (which helps you spend those components on power infrastructure and electric benches instead) and because the movespeed debuffs can be compensated by favoring ranged weaponry, particularly firearms. Standard start should still prefer rushing to flak vests. That said, you know, if you end up with a couple suits of plate armor and have nothing better laying around, definitely shove your pawns into them.

Looked away as everything seemed ok. Things were not, ok.

Maybe damaging the wall would wake up the monsters and they destroyed the wall to get to you. And you see the people in cryptosleep caskets didn't not wake up because the wall was intact otherwise they would have fought the creeps

@@Br0zer0 Kinda? they'll leave eventually but the important thing is they arent the same faction as the freaks so even an arrow to open it would have bought time.

@@Br0zer0wouldn’t help you anyway, they would have cryosleep sickness and depending on rng incapacitated, and your pawns were way out of position

An unfortunate turn of events that keep me coming back.

My best answer is to refer to my light gun setup for Retro. I end up using all of that space sometimes. But the stream is a constant WIP. Thanks for the feedback.
