Part one of woodburn dragstrip's 2008 season opener music video
for a few years i would take a day off to go watch them get ready for Seattle , was always good, Woodburn was a track even with no prep with my dragster i could leave on the trans brake at 6000 rpm and no spin, GREAT TRACK, and the owners that operated the track great people
like the tracks changes, very nice, i raced there in the 90s with a dragster
Nice pass Gary!
I made this before there was go pro, it wasnt easy mounting my video camera but was really happy how it came out.
I wish pro stock would come back to Woodburn
I worked for Mr Auto Supply 77 to 80 met Hank Johnson ,Gene Snow and Jerry Ruth. Great times
This would be the Brian Paulson that used to hang out with Ruth's nephew Joel & Curt Jennings I bet.
Wonderful pass!!!
This is the ONLY coverage of the 1977 US Nationals on TH-cam !!!....I was there !!!
thank you so very much
I remember the commercials. In a very deep voice lol
The radio commercials were Pat O'Day
I was here and I'm still going to NHRA, what an experience it was. We backed up my International Scout to the fence and partied all day and all night until it was over.
Automatic Bad Azz!
watched 2 guys on a Harley run this strip at night (no lights)but the officials had stacked a tire wall at the finish line, next day watched a guy get his car stuck in a big hole ,he got out opened a beer and cranked his stereo, later that night the bikers set fire to it , 1981 maybe ,the guys on the Harleys hit the tire wall and bounced but they didnt fall off XD
The Good Ole Day's of Drag Racing...Back when Independent racer could win a National event on any given Sunday... Giant Corporate Sponsorship's have pushed the low budget teams out.. today you buy a Win.. wheres the competition in that..
reminds me of englishtown 72.
How many of those FCs were Nitro and how many alcohol?
I spent a lot of time here in my late teens. 64 Funny Cars!!
I just watched this whole video with a huge smile on my face. Fun times, fun times. I'm a 59 year old lady btw. :)
great to see my old vega funny car burnout & all. Never knew this video even existed. Jerry Ruth, Frank Hall & Gordie Bonin signed my lic. Thanks, Dave King, owner, driver Langley B.C. Canada
hi I'm ramon vincent 2 year champion go and Chek out my chanel
Brings back a lot of memories. Went to my first race there in 1974. Raced there hundreds of times in my Roadrunner!
i <3 that thing runs on 87 octane!
wow! some of the best sounds from back in the day
Great memories! I was at 64 funny cars in aug of `77. It was my first drag race. I was 11 years old. What i saw that day made me who i am now. Great to hear those same sounds again!
Please upload more videos please?
What is the name of the song in the opening of the video called and who is it by?
64 FunnyCars!!!!
nice video bro, i was there
Balls? What do you think is wearing the helmet and gripping the wheel? Pure BALLS!
Was that Grumpy Jenkins in the first clip?
Nice driving job there man, I race a 182ci FED which runs low 7s and I know first hand how hard they can be to handle, great stuff!!!
Thats a sweet ride Gary! Nice!
@ 2:02, Joe Amato driving the HiJacker BB/FC before he was famous. Great stuff!!!
Was Pat Cress the driver of that car?
And that's how it was. THE GLORY DAYS Funny Cars And Back Up Girls!
that car is the shit, it takes some balls to drive that thing
I love the F100 at 1:02
Wish I was born earlier! Those days were golden. The old nitro cackle sounds different to the modern setups.
Cool man! Looks like it's time for an alignment though
XLNT...I love it! My '55 was a second slower and had a small-block, but it was just like this. Mahalo for the flashback, Gary!
Gary is one of the good people to know out there!
Before I read the comments I figured that must be a Stetson or Mitchell motor. Don't those guys build some motors around here? Nice car.
1977 was the one and only time I made it to Indy....I was shooting stills for both Les Lovett (NHRA) and a privately produced, high quality book on the event....a dream come true for this young photographer. Though I'm not positive, I'd guess that the back of my head is seen as the camera pans down track. The only person I definitely recognize is the recently deceased Bill Crites, who's bucket hat can be seen at around 3:10 I'd absolutely love to see more of this if you have it...thanks
Damn! that FED looks like it was a handfull to keep in the groove!
thats my uncel Rick in the purgatory car!!
Nice gary!
his tow truck aint bad either
i've got super 8 film (no sound) of this and many other races around this time. at atlanta, bristol, roxboro, english mountain. i need to put em on dvd. this is a good video of indy, thanks for putting this on.
"what ya got in their kid"?? please..
