Awesome video, thank you! I'm learning and after watching your video a few times I have a question: - Why is it so important to let the drone record data right after the mission on the land or in the air (as you have mentioned starting 19:52). I use to keep the drone in the air 5 minutes before the mission is started just to get more satellites, but to keep it after its not clear to me. Can you clarify this, please? Thanks in advance.
Is it possible to use this while live streaming? FB Live, TikTok, IG Live, etc.?
Could you help direct me to the link for the kml download of the CORS Map? I couldn't locate it. Thanks in advance.
Is there an app i can use to monitor drones?
Is it ever worth it to have a surveyor come put a reference benchmark directly on the site you’ll be flying from? Are there added benefits of having your own reference benchmark for your base station, such as increased accuracy or ease of use? Or is it completely a waste of money to have that installed on site?
Hell yeah, brother!
I am confused as to why DD would get a 3 and it didn’t run the mission, and GCM would get a 3 because the system was a bit clunky in the Part 1.
I want to see more about data analysis, orthomosaic etc... do you have another video about that ?
🙏❤️ Live from Scotland 🙏🙏
Been looking for drone insurance for my new business. Thanks for the info
So glad that this helped!
This is the best video I've seen explaining the whole process.
Really appreciate that! Thank you. 😊
Why would you need these apps for drone. It has gps built onboard
Good question. GPS alone is only one component of a drone. To execute mission plans to capture data, you need several systems working together at the same time.
Can you do a Drone Platform Showdown of DroneDeploy vs Drone2Map by Esri? Drone2Map seems to have the same capabilities including Stockpile analysis, photogrammetry processing, and orthomosaics but also has the benefits of ArcGIS and its cheaper. What do you think?
That’s a good idea. I’ll touch base with ESRI to get access to Drone2Map.
Thanks for the video. I guess I am having trouble understanding the practical implementation of this. In the video you are intentionally selecting a site based on the proximity to a CORS station and survey markers. Is this possible in more remote sites? What if you are outside the suggested 15km radius and have no survey markers?
Glad that you asked! I’m working on a video for this use case right now. Stay tuned! By the way, the workflow won’t be as disjointed as this one…
Hi Jason, great video! Hope you can help me with one thing I am unclear of. Where did the mountpoint, Berthoud_Co, come from? Thanks!
Oh! I found it It's the RTK2go caster.
Nice job. I especially like the cartoon. Lol. Good stuff
I just wanted to say thank you! Very useful/helpful video!! 45 mins flew by. I’ll have to rewatch a few times to actually catch on to all the different points you made. Thanks!
I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. I am working on a follow-up video that simplifies the workflow for DroneDeploy users.
Huge crush on Randall! 🙂
Great video, thanks Jason. I've watched it a couple of times but could you please confirm that in this case the aeropoint has only been used as a checkpoint and not as a GCP in DD processing? Thanks!
Confirmed. The AeroPoint was NOT used as a GCP.
@@DoYouKnowDrones But it was required to set the z coordinate. Thanks for the mega fast response!
That was also what I'am thinking, Aeropoint was not used as a GCP so no georeferencing done. If used as a GCP , It would have been increased the accuracy.
Is knuckles-5 still around?
Couldn't watch the whole thing with that background music so repetitive - otherwise I think this would have been a great video.
Appreciate the feedback. When I produce the Top Drone Capture Apps of 2024, I will significantly reduce the background music.
That was a really good explanation. Maybe i'm picky (or confused); but you were explaining about PPK, and @29:56 you got into RTK post processing tab on topodrone. Does that make a difference over the workflow?
Thank you. RTK Post Processing is the correct tab for PPK using this data.
Great video Jason (like the name)! I was wondering if you could do a video or share some insight to using a Reach RS2+ on site with the M3E? How accurate would that RTK data be? How do you verify the accuracy without a known checkpoint? I am just getting started and have no survey knowledge, only TH-cam U…but I’ve learned a lot. I noticed you used ArcGIS to verify your checkpoints, but am clueless as to what to do. I’ve tried my local Cors station and RTK correction (via Emlid studio) but don’t know how to verify that either. Please shed some light please. Much appreciated! BTW…I just got the Reach RS2+. Jason Breaux
I too would love to see that video!
Hi bro can you please make a video how to connect S132 GPS drone to iphone. I will try to much but cant connect can you help me out of this problems.
It looks like this video walkthrough explains the connection process. th-cam.com/video/uGBlUHldnMQ/w-d-xo.html
It looks like this video walkthrough explains the connection process. th-cam.com/video/uGBlUHldnMQ/w-d-xo.html
How do you change the backrounf map
There is a map button on the bottom left of the mission planning screen (right next to the area and time to complete)
Very helpful, thank you, could you please remove or keep it lower music on the background
Yes, I’m happy to lower the volume of the background music on future videos. Thank you for watching.
I'm using Litchi with an external app to generate the path to import
Litchi is a powerful app - like UgCS.
What is a drone capture app?
Good question… it’s software that is used for mission planning and execution of drone missions
Fantastic lesson and workflow demonstration. Thanks!
I’m very glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching.
RTK/Mechanical shutter gimbal attachment options for mapping and modeling missions?
Not that I know of
I'm curious if you would mind doing a similar video but capture GCP markers with a GNSS+RTK receiver.
I wouldn’t mind at all, but I unfortunately don’t have a GNSS+RTK receiver. I’ve been looking at the EMLID Reach series.
@Do You Know Drones? we recently got an Emlid RS2+ unit and are enjoying it with RTK corrections. I'm curious about the logistics of checkpoints and how to incorporate reliability into the work flow with DroneDeploy.
@@DoYouKnowDrones I live about a mile from where you did this and I have a GNSS receiver. Would you want to get together to do it? I am actually just getting my feet wet in this realm. Let me know. Thanks. Al
Hey Al! Which receiver do you have? That sounds like a fun idea.
@@DoYouKnowDrones I have a Trimble DA 2 and I have a Rock Robotic Base Station I am putting up this weekend.
Excellent job with your explanation of the process. Do you do courses
Yes I do! You can find them at www.bluenoseacademy.com
Amazing video Jason, thank you! James from DroneDeploy here. I think the real reason that the RTK and PPK do not line up is that they are based on different datums. If I had to guess, the PPK matched the AeroPoint as they both using CORS networks that are using the nad83(2011) datum, whereas I guess the RTK2GO corrections were using the more global WGS84 and most recent ellipsoid. Both maps were processed with very high accuracy, and are likely absolutely referenced in XY to within 0.2ft vs their reference datum. Anyway, your workflow to resolve that was great, thanks for sharing. If you want them to match perfectly in the future inside the DroneDeploy interface then you'd need to use an RTK network that uses a NAD83 datum. I think most CORS in the US will be using NAD83(2011).
Thank you for the insights, James. I did wonder if a datum shift was responsible for the RTK result, but the documentation on the RTK2GO network was a bit scattered. That being said, I know that DroneDeploy offers RTK Corrections within the Flight App. That’s something that I will showcase in the future.
First and foremost great video. I was also surprised to see such a large shift on the RTK dataset. It almost made me wonder why we invested in an RTK drone in our company. I think that if you get an Emlid and can measure your GCP using the same datum, then the results would be much better or better say closer. You experiment makes RTK look inaccurate, but RTK is actually supposed to be good (very accurate) as long as you don't get any drops. You make me want to go buy an Emlid or a pair of aeropoints. Propeller also has PPK processing, ask them to process your data for the video.
Great job Jason! Very well thought out
Thank you, Kyle. I appreciate your feedback.
is this/will it be compatible with 3rd party mapping software (Drone Deploy, Hammer missions) ?
Not for the capture portion of the mission, but you can always upload the images to either platform post-flight.
hello sir i have 1 doubt about drones nd their apps ,can we connect any drone to any app and is there any diff in video quality in every diff apps like can we connect any cheaper drone to any app?
That’s a good question. Unfortunately, not all drones can connect to all apps. It gets even more complicated, even drones from a single manufacturer aren’t compatible with apps that previous models were. Sweeping changes in hardware and SDKs have made it very difficult for apps to accommodate all drone models.
@@DoYouKnowDrones thank u sir for telling ❤❤
Hi
Hey there! Good to see you in my comments! Hope all is well with you and your family.
Question, do I need to be at the location or can I set the location from home? Thanks!
You can set the location from home
@@DoYouKnowDrones Maybe I wasn't clear or am missing something, I've seen this video 3 times now, there is no mention of entering another location, only dragging around the map. I'd like to enter an address of a building 30 miles away from me. Pix4d Capture doesn't seem to have that option from all of the videos that I have seen.
@@frankc.9853 Ah, I see. No, you can’t set a project location using anything other than your current location (or dragging a box to a location).
Thank you for one of the first reviews on this new sUAS. While this is an exciting entry into Public Safety and Enterprise choices, it does have some negative selling points. Number 1 on my list is the battery in the controller. It cannot be swapped and it cannot be charged while in use according to the main distributor. This will necessitate a second controller having to be bought. For users like myself in Public Safety, this is an obvious problem adn added cost. Other questions. If the sUAS loses satellite "FIX" is the RPIC alerted to being in Atitude mode? Can Atitude mode be enabled by the RPIC? Is there ADS-B In alerting you of nearby aircraft that are transmitting? Will there be an Enterprise level battery charger that can charge more than just 2 batteries? Do the batteries self discharge and can this be set by the user? Are there any smart features like: Orbit, Follow and the like? Will RTK be a future upgrade? Will there be true technical data available for light maintenance tasks and a manufacturer set maintenance schedule? Thank you.
Great questions! We will get you some answers.
Is the 7 steps course still available, the QR link doesn't work for me?
Hi Ricardo. We have started to charge for all Blue Nose Academy courses. You can access this course at 7steps.voomly.com
Thanks for sitting down with Drew. I hope that we can get this platform pushed into the industry. We need a secure, turnkey platform out there.
Completely agree! We also need a better trained drone workforce ready to use turnkey pro platforms like the SIRAS.
breathtaking ~D,o :))
It's still an emerging industry. It's just the beginning.
Verizon shut Skyward down?!
Yes, a few month ago. It just wasn’t gaining the traction that Verizon had hoped.
Interesting and entertaining, kudos Jason for tackling one of the more polarizing areas of the industry. I saw that mostly the respondents were solution providers, which makes sense since you're on an Expo floor ;-). I would be interested to see what end users say to this question.
A video focused on end users would be interesting… great idea!
Controller screen is only 3 by 6 inches????
Yeah, it could use a larger screen, but perhaps can be paired with a larger, third party screen (if that’s your preference)
Interesting range of views, great to be part of it.
Definitely not past the hype. We were at Commercial UAV Expo too. DroneUp couldn't even tell us how many single pilot operators they have that fly Enterprise Drones and need BVLOS. Hint: it's not many - yet, BVLOS is still front and center "for everyone." Why? The business models are shit. The end user market doesn't know how to value itself, other than to undercut each other to the point of very little margin. All you need to look at is the latest "funding round" for various UAV companies and see the hype. And then look at all the Market Research Data reports that are available from so many sources - they are so over forecasted. Anyway, cool new Enterprise drones though, eh? Next time, don't ask people that benefit from the hype.
I feel you. I started at a drone company that was nothing BUT hype. Good people, but all “slideware”. Funding rounds don’t equal capability or maturity. Many think that BVLOS is the final frontier for drones, but I don’t agree (maybe the subject of another video). It is interesting that there was a distinction between excitement to enter the industry versus racing to create solutions. Thanks for the comment.
People in the industry, mostly, don't benefit from hype. At least not long term - because it's damaging.
it needs to be beyond the hype and become a part of industry standards in many fields.
Completely agree. There’s no doubt that drones are here to stay, but there’s still some residual hype depending on your perspective.
I know with all this rules I regret getting in to drone.i got the Air 2S and I barely fly it scare I'll get a big ticket.i don't understand how this country allows things to be sold and once out the store is illegal in most places smh.
I know the rules can seem scary, but as long as you follow them, you have nothing to worry about.
@@DoYouKnowDrones Yeah but in my town is illegal to fly drone.a regular joe like me fly a drone cops come and still give you a ticket.its sucks I spend $1,500 on an item I'm scared to fly most of the time.i used it to do Facades on abandon buildings.practicing that lol
