      Peng is full. Think of it as 1 and 0. 1 is full of peng, 0 is completely empty. You are almost always 1 in taijiquan. But not always. There are times when you have to be completely empty. But wet noodle taijiquan does not work.

    I have been doing internal gongfu for over 30 yrs and Taiji as a focus for the last 20. Everything presented here is great advice and will lead to actual root skill which is integral to be effective in any advanced Chinese system. Using the ball like that will make up for lack of pressure if people are training alone or can't find frequent partners. Taiji w/o pressure cannot exercise the Peng quality enough to deal with martial power and abandoning Peng for stiff resistance when put under light load. Peng in the beginning is not strong if being honest with oneself. We call it "investing in weakness" once this Peng quality is experienced then this "weaker" body needs to be engaged and strengthened without allowing it to exceeding it's maximum load building this load capacity over time and training. In my school we do Fa fang release(some schools call it call fa jin) to disconnect them from us and toss people out and but the real reason we(Yang family) seem to focus so much on throwing people for distance as opposed to control and hit or break is that bouncing people out far is great exercise to strengthen our Peng. Sifu says in our system training partners are like living gym equipment for building our kind of strength in each other. We still work on seizing/controlling as our main martial focus but reserve the fa fang when disengaging would be preferred.

    What is the goal? How do you know if you are advancing. What does sink mean?

    • @wdhcTaijiquan
      @wdhcTaijiquan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sinking can be complex, but to make it simple, stand up straight, feel your dantien and allow your dantien to sink down to the ground. Of course that takes some imagination as you are not going to slump to the ground. As it sinks, allow your knees to bend until your legs feel like they are supporting 500 lbs and upper body is light. Important keys of this exercise are do not lean in any direction, knees do not pass toes. Once you get the concept of the weighting down, start over. Imagine your whole body connected to your dantien. Sink everything at once. You can also apply to single points like arms or hands to make them feel heavier.

    • @perrypelican9476

      @@wdhcTaijiquan what do you mean by sink. You keep saying it but not what it means. Is sink the same as drop or fall or go.? You say 3 spheres going on. What do you mean by going on. It is so unclear. Explain what one if those spheres is. Is it an imaginary shape? If so, so what? I mean what is going on with that Imaginary shape? I wish I could just understand one thing, especially sink. What does rooted mean? I'm sorry that it isn't obvious but I asked people what they thought it meant to stay rooted and I got a different answer from each one. Is it better to just do the exercises, not really knowing what any of it means? I don't think so. I appreciate your time, but if I can't understand the simplest basic thing like the meaning of sink, I won't know what I am doing.

    • @wdhcTaijiquan
