    IHS sounds exactly what happens to me when I eat gluten. When I was 22 I was constantly sleepy. I could sleep 13 hrs straight, not feel awake, take a 5 hr nap, still not feeling awake. It had worsened gradually. At 22, in college, the only thing I wanted to do was sleep, no matter what else was going on. Brain fog like crazy. Cutting out wheat/ gluten took away all that. Now 15 years later... Many times I have eaten gluten since, unintentionally, found out the hard way how many things it can be in. Every time, it takes me 2/3 days to recover. And now I'm going for a sleep study for the first time in my life. Cause though I feel awake, I sleep through alarms frequently. I feel like I'm being forced to live with permanent jet lag. I can't imagine feeling sleepy all the time and having brain fog and dealing with this. I shared my story hoping someone may benefit from it.

    My parents both have diagnosed sleep apnea, my father developed heart disease from sleep apnea, and my sister has been using a CPAP to sleep. About ten years ago I also started to develop sleep apnea, and would wake up during the night choking. It was so debilitating, I was getting more and more exhausted. I then read about people who had great results from an anti-inflammatory diet and exercise, which I decided to try as I was so desperate not to have surgery or use a CPAP. I went 100% cold turkey on the following - alcohol, refined sugar, processed foods and wheat products such as bread etc. I also began walking daily. It wasn't easy, and some days I wanted to give in to the food cravings, but I was really determined to give it a go. I noticed gradual improvements in my sleep after a couple of weeks, and within two months my sleep apnea was gone, completely gone. Whole food and exercise really is medicine, and today I still sleep through the night and the whole food diet and exercise regimen is now just a daily habit, it's no longer a chore.

    I seem to need my mouth closed to not snore. I have used a cpap but my mouth dried out. I tried to wear head bands aroundy chin and head to close my mouth. I bought mouth pieces, to pull my lower jaw forward, but it couldn't keep my mouth closed. I finally tried a neck brace and tape over my mouth. Those both work so much i don't need my cpap anymore. But the tape makes me nervous if i threw up unexpectedly. So the meck brace has worked best for me. But it has to stiff enough to be able to push my jaw up.

What I observed is that even if I use Cpap and MAD, I would have disturbed sleep on my back but side sleeping was ok. I also observed that when I sleep on my back and fold my knees upwards I would breath better. Is there any device which folds my knees when I sleep on back? I also used slumber bump to avoid back sleeping for 3 years and now may be bcoz of that sleeping with that on my left side has become a problem for my heart. Can you tell any device which lifts my knees up when I sleep on back?.

    The oral appliance will not work if people do not have all their molars. Dentists wont make them for you if back teeth are missing. They dont want to change your bite and ruin your other teeth. The TAP Device definately changes your bite. I didnt test after I got mine, but I could tell it worked b/c I was not tired anymore. 😊 If you have severe sleep apnea, the mouth devices do not work as well.

    Hi, I think you missed the point here. The issue is that your conscious mind is multi-tasking and you need to temporarily shut that down so you can focus solely one one item. First your conscious mind produces the unwanted thought and then it starts thinking about it. That secondary part where it starts thinking about it is "the wandering". So eliminating the wandering part (by re-focusing and kicking away the unwanted thought) is definitely helpful but not a solution. This also is the cause of having a problem with getting to sleep at night. So saying, "don't worry about it, it will get better over time", is not really an acceptable solution. An analogy would be a small pebble in your shoe that is intermittently annoying you while you are out walking. You want to get rid of it rather than merely put up with it.

    • @EllyTaliesinBingle
      @EllyTaliesinBingle 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the helpful comment. Have you any tips on shutting down the conscious mind? Namaste 🙏🕉️

    • @MaxDooDat2
      @MaxDooDat2 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@EllyTaliesinBingle Hi, I'm currently working on an article about this. Below are the first 2 paragraphs. And the last sentence shows why this is complicated; since you don't want to block the good messages. "The first thing you need to understand about your mind chatter is that it is the product of an evolutionary survival mechanism employed by your cognitive system. And that is why trying to stop this chatter (or even controlling it to any degree) is so difficult. It’s hard wired. So the method you use needs to employ the same principle that this system uses. Otherwise, your attempts will be rejected. This survival mechanism was designed mainly to deal with various threats in the physical world by keeping you informed and supplying you with problem solving ideas. So these thoughts are mostly based in anxiety and emotion. And therein lies the main clue that will allow you to gain some control. It’s the emotion that your consciousness attaches to each thought that really matters. That’s what your conscious mind uses as the criteria to decide whether or not to take them seriously enough to keep repeating them back to you. It’s also what your subconscious mind uses to determine if it should do problem solving work on a particular issue. But also be aware that these 2 minds are just processors with a limited decision making capacity, compared to the abilities of your soul’s consciousness. They are not the real YOU. They are just tools that your consciousness (i.e. YOU) uses. But nowadays in our personal lives, most humans rarely encounter survival-type threats or have daily issues that require intense problem solving. But still, this system is programmed to be ever vigilant and constantly generating reminders about your issues. So unless you have some major problems in your life, these anxiety-based reminders are relegated to being mostly about trivial matters, with occasionally some higher-concern items included. But, sometimes there will also be valuable problem solving messages generated by your subconscious mind, or from your spirit guides if you meditate.

    Sleep apnea can be treated without CPAP through various alternatives, including oral appliances, weight loss, and surgical interventions like the Inspire device and hyoid bone advancement. These options offer flexibility and can be tailored to individual needs, though success rates may vary. Consulting a sleep specialist is recommended to explore the most suitable treatment. Key moments: 00:10 Dr. Wells discusses CPAP alternatives for sleep apnea treatment, emphasizing the importance of CPAP therapy's effectiveness in addressing airway obstructions, but also highlighting the challenges of compliance and comfort. -Dr. Wells explains the significance of CPAP therapy in treating sleep apnea by addressing multi-level obstructions in the airway, debunking the misconception of it solely being a tongue problem. -The discussion shifts to optimizing CPAP therapy for comfort and compliance, with a focus on the importance of finding the right mask type and adjusting to a trial-and-error process similar to selecting shoes or bras. 06:02 Patients and medical professionals should be aware of alternative treatments to CPAP for sleep apnea, including oral appliances, to provide more options and improve patient outcomes. -The importance of educating patients and medical professionals about alternative treatments to CPAP, such as oral appliances, to empower decision-making and improve treatment outcomes. -The availability of over 100 different oral appliances on the market for treating sleep apnea, emphasizing the importance of customization for effectiveness and comfort. -Insurance coverage for oral appliances, including Medicare coverage for specific devices, and the role of trained dentists in constructing and adjusting these devices. 12:34 Weight loss may not always be effective for treating sleep apnea as not all individuals with sleep apnea have weight issues. I've been on full face CPAP for 6 years now. My Dr says I'm her rock star lol. I wear it every night. I wear it because it made a drastic difference in the tried feeling I had all day. I've lost 40# in the last year. I've gotten my air turned down. I'll have to still wear it. I was told after my study that I had a small airway. I still have my tonsils. Unfortunately everything sags when you are elderly .🙁
