I went 411s ford 9 paired with a 700r4 hope to the 26s...
Great vid
My question is what about 2.73 gears? What's the benefits of that other then gas mileage?
Strength, numerically low ratios spread the torque over more gear teeth. I run a 3.31:1 in my 1985 Grand Wagoneer, and it lifts the left front tire. It is a brick pushing a lot of wind so I get to the end in 14 seconds! Won't break anything and can drive it everywhere. Ford 9" has a great hypoid offset so that numerically higher ratios look like a worm gear solving the tooth contact issue of many other ring gear designs.
th-cam.com/video/rk4E2N8YKGA/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Now 3.31:1 that's a good ratio for 60 to 70 mph on the highway. Some hills ok.
I owned a 91 Mustang 5.0 LX hatchback from 95 to 05. The car had the T-5 World Class transmission and 2.73:1 ring and pinions. It gave me as much as 30 mpg on the highway under optimal conditions but because the engine and exhaust system was modified would breath better than stock. I could put the car in 4th gear and rev the engine to 5800 rpm and the car would do a lidar verified speed of 158 Mph higher than the 140 speedo. Put it in 5th and the car slowed down to about 137 Mph.
I'm gonna have to think about this for a while lol. I'm looking to build a Superlite SLC with a Audi 5.2l v10 and some sort of straight cut gearing for high performance low gears maybe even high gears. Id like the engine to be making somewhere around 500 to 560 hp, nothing crazy just fun.
Hello, i have a bmw e30. It's a 1.6 110 hpw 5 gear , i changed my wheels from 14 to 16. The car has a 3.91 ratio from fabric . My car lost power in going to the hills. I would like to know the best ratio for my car to get more tork on the wheals butt be able to cruze at no mutch rpm at 5 gear when i go at 120 kmh or 70 miles per hour . What you woul recomend in this case?
Depends on the power of the car
Thanks 😊
Nice when someone explains it quick and ez thx. This is for my barn find
I wonder how this compares to the Omicron surface finish that Shaftech do ?
just found you guys with an online search. I'm really interested in the FN988 unit. Do you haveany videos about them?
What about 3.09 for a Dodge Challenger hellcat wide body jailbreak
what about a 2020 ford mustang gt with long tube headers, boss 302 intake with 200 shot nitrous, 10 speed transmission tune and e85 on a 315/50/17 mickey et tires on the rear i mainly roll race what would be good gears for those ? oh and i daily the car … what you recommend
Junk
@@ShazbotNanewNanew i’ll take that pos bike 🏍️ to gap city 😂
putting 486 ratio in a 2.8 or 3.0 V6 liter family car what will happen?
'70 Coronet/Superbees are a one year treasure.
if i have an automatic how do i switch my gear ratio is it in the diff or the transmission
Hello ! Thanks for all the info you talk about on your channel. I want to regear my TRD 2016 Tacoma, but I don't have any local place I can trust to conduct a professional job. My friend advised me I could buy a front and rear diffs complete with the ratios I want. I would remove and install the diffs in my Taco. Then I would send back my diffs for a core credit? Any direction would greatly appreciated, thank you.
using this for beamng drive icl
This was dope!
What gear ratio would you recommend for a 2006 Cadillac sts-v
What gears ratio would yall recommend. I have a extended cab 98 obs 1500, with n/a 5.3 sloppy stage 2 cam with 4l80e transmission combo? I believe currently it has 3.73 rear end gears.
How does tire size affect the end result of axle ratio, or does it affect it at all
May anyone give me a suggestion for VVT-I 1nr-ve engine with 4AT fwd car should upgrade to what ratio for better acceleration?
Thnx for the breakdown, I'm exploring my 2011 Supercharged Jaguar XF. Was breaking down the specs as I get to know it and my first gear showed 4.17 , 2.34 , 1.52 on a chart. So I came here for a better understanding. She's aggressive 470 hp with 424 lb torque. This is gonna be fun!
great vid
I have a 68 Camaro making about 500 horsepower NA I plan on putting on a pro charger soon my 0 to 40 is very nice however the car begins to slow down after that like it’s running out. I bought the car with posi and I’m assuming 4.11 what would be gear for a 700r4 Camaro with 18 inch wheels. 600 horsepower
Was sup bro, I have an 2007 crown Victoria P71 4.6L V8. I think I have 3.27’s but I wanna get more power of my car or at least make it faster at the tires. The weight of the car is heavy but she can go at lower RPMS but at higher RPMS I have to hit the gas the. She revs. Idk if I should go with 3.73’s or 4.10’s. Here a lot of the lose top end power on 4:10’s? I kinda want the best of both worlds what would you suggest? I have exhaust upgrade with K&N stock & a little tune on it. Maybe 4:10’s for faster speeds or 3.73’s for best of both worlds.
the darting eyes made this uncomfortable lmao
Great I understand everything he explained
You explained more in 3 mins than pretty much anyone ever on the youtubes, thank you
It’s 4:11 now, but it lags off the gate
Then a 4.56 might be your best option.
What would you recommend for a 6.0l V8 gas engine with an automatic 4 speed overdrive transmission. The truck came with 245x75x16 but I’m running 35x12.5x17. It’s an 04 Silverado 2500HD
If you plan to do a lot of towing, then a 4.56 would probably be your best bet. If not, then 4.11 should suit you just fine.
bad ass
What finish you getting?
I just bought a 2005 silverado 1500 2wd 5.3 from the first owner , the paper work shows it has the 3.73. as a package option, a heavy duty suspension, GVW rating is 6,800 lbs. the truck is lifted 6 inches. does this means that the truck is more for towing than for crusing ? I just want to understand what I have Im new on this gear ratio thing...LOL
Usually tow rigs are geared lower 3.73 gears are in-between. Lower the gear the more torque you spread to the wheels and fuel economy of course. Lol 9 months later
Great video thank you
I need to connect with you guy's soon, Great Video Thanks
Excellent explanation, direct and to the point. Thank you.
always here to help! Thanks for watching!
3.73's ,4.11's are only good for 1/8 mile. After a quarter mile there is no way they will keep up with a 3.25. You will see nothing but tail lights, and won't see anything afer a 1/2 mile.
Drag racing is overrated.
Your overrated @@hudsondonnell444
@hudsondonnell444 Nah dawg, drag racing is sick. It's the most basic form of racing but it's so hype just seeing those beautiful machines take off from standstill down the strip, and there is no other motorsport with better wheelies!
Only applicable if your crapbox is a relic that only has 3 to 4 forward gears
Quarter mile is king
I have a T5 transmission a manual 97 Camaro 3800 series 2 I’m thinking to change the rear gear differential any advice?😊
I have a sentra 1.6 5 speed manual, Rpm is too high on 5th gear, Is therr anyway to fit a lower ratio gear

What the best gear for my 68 chevelle with a inline 6 250 with a th350 transmission and I have a 3.08 with posi
Hi, I want to swap an engine on a vw Lt 35 van MK1, the original engine is offset on the passenger side, so is the pinion, the engine I want to put in won't fit offset so I'll have to mount I centered, will there be issues if I leave the pinion offset from the engine? Even if the gearbox and pinion angles are aligned?
yes
what about 1.3 Litre MPV weight 1.2ton, 5 speed manual with 98hp and 109 Nw torque?
Can you make a video for GM vehicles (4x4 trucks) on this topic. Thank you
I don’t know what it is but I always liked the junkyard look
