But Scrooge became a better man, and did not found the Ebeneezer Pharmaceutical Company.
The narration is a bit on the cheery side for either interpretation, i.e., that it was a horror poem, or that it was a grief poem. I've discovered evidence that it was definitely the latter, and not written by Edgar Allan Poe at all (his claim being merely a scam, which has now become a myth). The real author, according to my independent research, was Mathew Franklin Whittier, the younger brother of the poet John Greenleaf Whittier.
