    I know this is a old video, but can you offer any advice on removing the wood panel over on the dinette side. Immediately left of the steps. There is a cabinet attached to it. I have successfully removed all of the rest of the pieces for re-upholstering, but that is the only piece that’s left. Thanks! By the way, thanks for this video! It was very useful when removing my couch.

    Love the video! I am considering upgrading from our travel trailer to a gas class a. Been doing a bunch of research. I was wondering if you still travel with this coach? Over the years how did you feel the upgrades helped?

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 ปีที่แล้ว

      Traded it about 2 years ago. The upgrades helped a lot. Would/have done them again on current coach. Besdt single thing was the addition of the rear track bar. If it fits what you want, a 22K chassis is much better than the 18K chassis.

    • @DestinationHere
      @DestinationHere ปีที่แล้ว

      @@modularmania2012 what do you mean 22k vs 18k chassis? Is that the weight?

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, my 30 foot ACE was on an 18,000 lb chassis and my 36 foot Miramar is on a 22,000 lb chassis. Both are F53 Ford. These are the GVWR of the two coaches (Gross vehicle weight rating). the 18k has 19.5 inch tires and the 22K has 22.5 inch plus heavier suspension/axles. The 22 k is usually on coaches over 30 foot.

    Are you using led license plate lights for your dash courtesy lights? I completely agree with the difficulty in reading the dash switches. Also, on bright sunny days, I find that reflections make it hard to read the dash gauges. If you also have this issue, would a courtesy lights mounted under the arch of the dash make the dash easier to read? Thanks for your ideas.

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, license plate lights from Amazon. Installed one on each exterior step, two at the switches near the entry door and one in the hall bath wall. I have the same "glare" issue reading dash display in daytime. Not sure if additional light would help that issue, maybe some type of hood to shield the display. I rely on the Garmin RV 890 on the dash for speed and distance. I think if you turn off the headlights, in the daytime, the display brightness is increased, helps some. Maybe there is a way to "trick" the display to max brightness, probably the voltage sent to the display.

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't say for sure as I did the track bar and CHF at the same time. On IRV2.com many say the CHF alone helps a lot. Doesn't cost anything but your labor. You can always undo it if you want. Some claim you should use longer arms to keep the angle stock, others say the CHF makes pot holes and road seams more jarring.

    any experience getting the lock assembly out of the motorhome when that latch breaks in the locked/closed position?

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was lucky to be inside the coach when it broke. Removed the two mounting screws on the inside and removed the lock. Some people were able to crawl in an unlocked window. You may be able to pull the lever that opens the door and pound on the door near the edge where the bolt is. Jiggle the door as you pound, may work the broken end out of the strike on the jamb. May have to cut the lock out. May be able to work a stiff wire or thin metal strip under the lip of the door and work the bolt out of the strike.

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Ray You may be able to open the drivers side or passengers side window even if locked. Some have posted that you can open by pushing in on the slider portion at the lock and pulling out on the fixed side. They post that you can get enough movement to move the sliding side past the lock catch.

    Great video....I'm especially interested in the noise behind the radio....a thumping that appeared after about a thousand miles on I 95. Wonder if some foam or padding would do the same as his fix by adding a set screw back there. Any help?

    • @modularmania2012
      @modularmania2012 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe. Putting some foam rubber on top of the radio may help. There is a stud on the back of the radio. There is a tab that sticks down from the dash with a hole in it to receive the stud when the radio is installed. It is not a tight fit so it can rattle when driving. Also possible that the stud missed the hole when the radio was installed. If that happened you would not know it by looking at the radio from the front. Tab could also be bent. You should be able to reach up from the bottom and feel along the back of the radio to tell if the stud is in the tab.

      @@modularmania2012 Got the radio out...no problem other than the power cable was not long enough to get the radio out without pulling the cable out. No problem though. Found that the screw stub on the back that goes into the tab connected to the dash was threaded for something like a bolt that wasn't there. Got one, a wing nut...metric at Lowes and tightened it up. Hoping that works....doing a bump test soon. Thanks for your email and your video on this project.

    Nice job! I did mine this weekend but also covered the forward side of the stairwell and the entire storage bin including the bottom. I used loctite adhesive and then 2" drywall screws with fender washers. I like that spray adhesive you got, I am going to see about getting me some. I also want to do the floor area you are talking about and probably under the seats. I used 1-1/2" foam mainly because a buddy gave me a sheet of it. After installing I used spray foam for cracks and then covered all the edges with the aluminum tape. We are going out this weekend so will see if it is a noticable difference but really want to see how closing the open duct runs helps.

    I had more of an issue removing the end piece as I had removed that piece of paneling a long time ago and utilized that area to build a shelving unit, well in hindsight I shouldn't have covered up those screws! DUUUHHH. I eventually got it off though. On installing the couch which I used a different couch but I built a box tall enough to put both air ducts into and ran the length behind the couch and put registers in the top of the box allowing more than enough venting to make up for the duct size so there was no restrictions in air flow
