I was graciously granted the opportunity to purchase this business a little over a year ago and I have learned so much since then! I am so grateful for everyone who supported me along the way and there is so much I have to share from my experience. What is in the commercial candles you burn on a daily basis? Is soy wax really better or does it go far deeper? How does the fragrance deeply affect...

Not opposed to paraffin either but I just use it minimally -- like 20% max -- for some of its good properties. Too much of it makes the candles burn and melt much faster I think. Beeswax and coconut wax, I love. Thanks for this video , looking forward to more❣❣❣

I don't oppose to paraffin. I use it primarily to blend to harden and improve scent. Too high of a paraffin gives me headaches AND it soots a lot more. I work with everything from hemp to bees depending on the theme, and per my testing, paraffin is a great additive, but I didn't like how it burns alone (paraffin & palm) I often recommend adding 10 or 20% to newbies that are frustrated with soy. If you want that big box retail look, you add paraffin or coconut OR just learn to love the limited or weak scents and bumpy top.

Great video . Wish you all the best on your journey, the story behind your candles and the bible quotes works so well together, happy candle making from the UK.

Anyone who thinks any wax other than Bees wax is organic has no idea. To get the oil from Soybeans they use Hexane, that is a byproduct of the crude oil refining process. Soy wax production, as with most other oil extraction from plants, uses a byproduct of the crude oil process to get the oil that is then refined into wax.

THIS, it frustrates me to no end just how many "candle makers" know absolutely nothing about the origins of their own wax. I've had so many conversations with seasoned candle makers who have been doing this for many years, who say nonsense like "I use natural eco friendly soy wax, I don't use paraffin because it's toxic/burns dirty" It's just pure ignorance. Soy wax Is not natural, it's a massively intensive system that uses petrochemicals to produce, and the SCIENCE shows time and time again that if you properly wick an unfragranced soy or paraffin candle, they produce no more emissions than each other. But these people don't read science, they read blog posts, those blog posts got their information from propaganda of the plant wax industry. The only thing I would say about Paraffin is that it's not a renewable resource. But I still use 15-20% in my custom wax blend because it massively improves the performance and stability of candles. There is just so much misinformation and straight up lies in the wax industry and it's really muddied the waters for information and ultimately even the most innocent candlemakers end up peddling nonsense.

Good info. I could be wrong, but candelilla wax does grow on a plant. You still have to process the plant to get the wax separated from the leaves though. Looking forward to hear the info about wicks and fragrances.

Some makers lose their minds when I tell them that paraffin isn’t as toxic as they’re led to believe. 😂 Great video. Keep up the good work ❤

So glad someone agrees with me!! The more I study the more discrepancies I find - maybe the wax affects the overall impact a little bit but it has SO much more to do with the wick and the fragrance!

@@BurnworthyCandleCo. totally agree. Also, one of the founders of soy wax said himself that the soy wax industry villainized paraffin wax in their marketing efforts and it stuck. 😜

I appreciate the Christian aspect of your candles but some constructive criticism..there are a few red flags about your candles I can see on your website already that correlate to amateur candle making and do not make your products appear trustworthy.

This may be a personal question, but I’d be interested to know how much you paid for the business and how you evaluated it to justify the cost. Did you just buy out the inventory and supplies or did you pay a premium over that based on the sales that were already established? Also what was your business plan and timeline expected to pay it off? Reviewing the video it seems like you were able to pay it off at the end of 2023. If so, what were the terms that you agreed upon with previous owner? It seems like, especially after the rebranding, you could have done this on your own, however I’m assuming you saw the value in taking over an established brand. How much do you think that helped you with your business as opposed to just starting it up on your own? Thank you for your consideration in answering my questions, whether you are able to or not. I ask them because very recently we find ourselves in a very similar situation, and I’d love to hear how you approached it. Much success on your journey. I liked and subscribed for the TH-cam algorithm. Good luck and God bless!

Thank you so much! These are all great questions! The short answer is my dad is a business owner and he has helped me a lot through this process. He got connected with the original owner of this business when she was looking for a seller and he was with me in every meeting I had with her. As far as strategy goes we were able to assess the business as she was doing it part time and figure out that if I treated it like a full time job, at least for a few months going to markets etc., it could do a lot more than it was doing! There are different ways we implemented that strategy but the biggest one was just getting my products in front of people. Strategy depends a lot on what kind of business you're operating though so there isn't a lot of insight I could offer. I think having a good advisor is key and that is the best advice I have! I will likely share more as I keep learning but I don't feel confident until I have done more myself. I really appreciate your interest!
