not to ruin your appreciation for them, but the "no thumb" playing on the highest frets are due to just how THICCC LPs are at the neck and body joint. they're palming it instead so the fingers can still reach the frets. the thiccc ass joint paired with the rather cramped small single cut of LP designs mean that you can't push your wrist further out without getting literally stuck in the cut... so you have to palm it.

@@jerrylim6722 I haven't tried playing Les Paul butI heard complains about its higher frets being difficult to access. No wonder they got overshadowed by Fender. That's why I'm amazed by those who can play it. For someone who have no opportunity to play Les Paul, this information is useful. Thanks!

@@ながとゆき-o4u the only reason I have an LP to begin with, is because of the shorter scale length... but other than that... it's all practically like you said, overshadowed. the first 100usd telecaster clone i got to start with honestly feels better and now that it's had a refret to make it actually more playable... the LP kinda just sitting on the rack with dust. it's not a waste of money for me for sure, but to those who don't require shorter scales due to small hands... you really shouldn't even need to take a look at it.

@@jerrylim6722 I use an SG which has similar scale length to a Les Paul with more accessible fret. You only have to deal with the neck dive though. Try it if you have a chance. You might like it. Anyways, I'm planning to buy a Telecaster so that I can have single coil guitar. Does Tele have more accessibility than Les Pauls?

@@ながとゆき-o4u access is pretty much the same given the fact that SGs originally were supposed to be gibson's direct competition against strats and teles. it's why personally I just never got around to trying an SG (mostly cuz the local places don't really sell much of the good stuff besides fenders) the newest of the bunch I got right now is a Squier strat and honestly... after the upgrades I gave it, it kinda ended up being the most used, if the not the ONLY ONE to be picked up constantly for the past 3 months I had it. but that's probably because due to me being more used to single coils than humbuckers due to what I started out on. so much so that despite liking what the LP neck coils sound like... I almost always leave it in split mode. also the wieght is just too much on the LP to really play standing up for more than an hour at a time, so I kinda never really picked it up much recently.
