So I learned that the fuel pump relay fuse is one of the three white relay fuses that you see on top it's the one sideways

Worth mentioning. There is a plastic cover over the power cable that you need to pop off to access the 10mm nut to disconnect power supply.

Where is the final screw to detach the power cable from the fuse box (front, side, back)? I can't feel or find it

Just bought one about two months ago, ugly but runs like a top does at least 25-30+. Two days ago would fire but not start and run. Have been told it is either the glow plug relay or injectors. Will figure it out because it is a beast of a little farm hauler.
What I did was find a "switched" lead near the the fusebox. I added a stand-alone fused relay. That way when I switch to key on, the relay energizes and sends current to the FP. Works like a charm. I soldered in a new FP relay a few years ago until today. This morning the FP relay once agian failed so I went with the stand-alone relay to never have the same issue.
What's a switched lead?
Basically a wire/circuit that is hot when the key is switched to on.
Just a heads up. I have a 03 expedition eddie bauer 5.4L 4x4 think I have this same problem however I have no codes. I got stuck at work last night was running fine, came out and started it up and it was running really rough. Tried restarting and nothing, cranking super fast and it tried to start a few times but not even close. Watched this video and others on the subject. Ran a jumper wire i got from cutting off the cord of my cigarette lighter air compressor directly from the positive on the battery under the hood to the green wire with yellow stripe, no connector just twisted the stripped wire, Unplugged the connector and stuck the wire in the back side used electrical tape to secure it. Then ran it out the door into the hood compartment being careful not to pinch it I taped it onto the safer area where weather stripping would pad it a bit. Started right up, no diagnosis was done at all. This got me home and I'm thankful for this video and the others which I will link either in a edit or a new post should be next to this post. How's your truck doing now? mine doing the same thing with the 4x4 lights flashing. My car stuck and won't turn over. Can it be the pump is completely out now
@@Anthony-bl5rm once you run the jumper wire as shown in the video your pump will be running constantly, which can be bad,, hook it up and listen then unhook it. If there is no noise your pump may be bad but check your wiring to be sure. you can hear it from underneath around the rear wheels. I ended up re soldering a new relay on to the board which worked for awhile eventually it blew again, thats when I did the bypass and ran a new relay. Both of the videos are linked in my first comment. Mine started up as soon as I ran the jumper wire, thats how I knew it wasn't the fuel pump, but the relay its self. Some do say that when this happens its a sign your fuel pump could be going bad. However I just changed the fuel filter and replaced the relay and it has been fine for a couple months now. Check the fuse, watch all the videos you can on both replacing the onboard relay as well as bypassing it. Checking the fuse, replacing the fuel filter everything.
@@Anthony-bl5rm the 4x4 lights only flashed once every few minutes. And only after I unplugged the wire harness which contains the fuel pump wires to plug in the jumper to it, and I left it unhooked while I drove home. Worked fine for me just ran 1 power wire as I believe it (fuel pump) is already grounded to the frame. Just be sure your hooking the power wire to the green wire with yellow stripe and to be sure its getting power try going directly to the power side of the battery under the hood if a short jumper doesn't work. I would say if the wire your using is too small of thickness it might have went bad, so be sure your wire is good.
How thick should the wire be
@@Anthony-bl5rm 14 gauge. the wire i used to get myself home was probably 16-18 gauge (smaller wire than 14 gauge), worked fine in a emergency but 14 gauge is what the factory size is. I ran the relay with all 14 gauge wire when I got home. Bought a 20ft roll at the auto parts store was pretty cheap l think altogether it was about $50 for the new relay, connectors and wire.
I have it tapped into my cigarette lighter now the problem I have is its always on even with the keys out until I disconnect the power from the green wire is there something I missed or do I have the wrong fuse tapped
Hi I don't know if it makes sense but mine was parked running when my son yanked keys from ignition and expedition shut off ,ever since then I've had this same no start problem ??? Any suggestions or how this may be related?

Is it supposed to have side to side play ? I think my inside washer might be bad because it has play and the clutch rides on one side

I have set my timing like this and I put it all back together and tried crank it. I took the whole thing apart cause I had a piston bust and had clean bottom end. When I put it in time like this and tried crank it now but it’s sucking air through exhaust and blowing out intake. What could it be ?
😳😳wtf maybe 180 degrees out of timing but idk
I have seen this before when the intake valve gets bent ( or is not closing in general) You will get air coming out of the intake.

I agree it should thats what the factory specs say the top speed is.. I no longer have it the guy who bought it asked me to turn it down he was going to use it in chicken house's and did not want it rolling coal lol

My expedition does it intermittently it just loses fuel and starts up after a minute. It has done it 3 times. It does not trip the service engine light. I took it to the dealership. It did not do it for them. Could that be the issue considering it’s not tripping the service engine soon light or is it the fuel pump?
Yes this is your issue eventually it will totally go out and won't start back thats how I finally figured it out

Witch nut did you adjust?
I did the same thing and it was the 8mm nut loose then turn the stud out with Allen and tighten the 8mm nut back
So the fuel pump will be ignition hot? I was going to try to run a toggle switch to turn it on and off until I can get a fuse but if I can use it this way for a little bit, I’ll try that.
Yes ignition hot the pump will turn on and off with the key
I had to take my front cover off because the shift shaft somehow pulled out. I looked at this and the hole and pin is not lined up to the tab at the top. Why do you think this happened? The atv ran perfect, no problems at all. Maybe I spun it from the back?
I didn’t replace top end, cam etc. all I touched was the shift shaft and the position switch in the rear.
If you still have it you can swap the governor spring(s) in the injection pump and you can really make it go. Those yanmar and diesels kubota diesels are capable of amazing power if you mess with them
I sold it shortly after the video the guy that bought it wanted it turned down I think I was reving around 4000 rpm I don't think there was much more left in it

Did you completely remove cam. I'm replacing my timing chain, do you think I could remove plate on cam and slide it out just a little and the cups on top of cam not fall into engine?
Yes you should be fine to do that just don't pull the cam out to far
@JunkMoney-pk3co i was thinking mabey the lifters will fall down but if you have the top end off already you should be fine
