Welcome to Dems Da Yens!
We're Max and Hitomi, a British and Japanese married couple living on the outskirts of Tokyo. We love to go treasure hunting and shopping in the deep suburbs of Greater Tokyo to find all the gold. Clothes, antiques, retro video games, toys, electronics, silly junk. It never gets boring!
In this episode we found a VERY unusual 7-11 on the outskirts of Tokyo. Most 7-11 stores in Japan have exactly the same layout and have the same stock. This store was like an independant market within a 7-11. Absolute snack heaven!!
You can find this 7-11 here:

Looks like this particular branch has staff that are quite interested in products from around the world, which is pretty cool - there's tons of stuff here that I recognise as UK brands, and having it mixed in with local brands from Japan creates this really interesting imagery. Might have to check this one out when I eventually make it to Japan for the first time!
I didn’t even know 7-11 owners could choose what stock they have. It makes it so much more interesting. It’s like a day out going there. If only they had Jaffa cakes!! Man alive what I would do for some Jaffas!!
Thank you so much for your posting! I'm glad that you have enjoyed 7-11 in Japan🏪 I think that this 7-Eleven is a very rare store where products are displayed outside the store😲(If the wind is strong, the product will be blown away.)
Yes very rare and strange 7-11. Have you ever seen wine tasting in a conbini??
I've never seen wine tasting in a conbini🍷 It is the first time for me to discover a new type 7-11 in my life by your posting🏪(the future of conbini ???😂)
Konnichiwa!! This was a fun little find, we’ll definitely be biking over here again for more snacks and treats. Check out some of our other videos if you’re new to the channel! Max & Hitomi ❤
this place is my fav thrift store ive been to in Japan. Went twice on two separate trips and spent sooooooo much money both times
@@ChadsThrillAdventures It’s like a thrift theme park and you never know what you’ll find. We love it!
Thank you for bringing us along and showing the plushes I mentioned last time Hitomi has great taste. I collect Sylvanian Families and love Polly Pocket too!
I haven’t started my Sylvanian families collection yet, I’m too scared I might go overboard. I don’t know how long I can resist them though!
@@htinako It's OK we can share lol. I wish I could send you a picture but I'm not sure how
Wow this was slick probably the best JapanThrifting video I've seen and I've seen quite a few now. Just a small recommendation could you put the location's Google Maps links in te description please
@@Cliffdog01 Thanks so much for the feedback! I’ll add the map links.
Thanks for the upload. I will be on the hunt for stuff I probably don't need, but want (Giant tanuki statue) in about two weeks. I enjoy the hunt and I'll work out how to ship it back to the UK in one piece if I go a little overboard.
@@banana_necessary Thanks! I guarantee that you’ll go overboard 😅 Sending boxes back to the UK is pretty easy. If you’re staying at a hotel they can do it all for you.
Konnichiwa!! I hope you all enjoy this trip to Kanteidan in the suburbs with us. I don’t think many people know about these sorts of stores and they’re definitely worth a visit! New video next week!
7:40 "BOEDWEIZUR"
You are irritating. I am stopping watching now!!!
@@chiyourmobilewellness8364 We couldn’t agree more. We hate ourselves.
What's going on with these prices?? I'm wondering now whether it's worth going during our first trip to Tokyo. Is it still worth a visit?
@@PookiePukeko It’s definitely worth visiting for the day out and the experience. There’s lots of food and drink there as well. What are you looking for? Games, toys, gatchapon?
@@demsdayens Good to know, thank you :) I'd like to find a few plushes, vintage girls' toys like Polly Pocket, and a bit of Ghibli merch
@@PookiePukekoWell for plushies I’d recommend any Book Off Super Bazaar or Tokyo Flea Market. Hitomi is actually a big fan of Polly Pocket toys, but we’ve never seen any for sale in Japan unfortunately.
@demsdayens thanks I'll definitely be going to some BookOff Super Bazaars 😊 I hope Hitomi can get her hands on the new Polly Pocket gachas! They're so cute and just like the ones from the 90s.
Konnichiwa!! Happy new year everyone!! This is the final part of our Nakano Broadway videos. We've got so much filmed and ready to go, lots of cool thrifty trips to come! So stick around and follow our silly Japanese adventures.
Very cool store but some of the prices are kinda wonky. Guess im not racist because i have no idea what JIC is. Can anyone explain it?
@@bootleggodzilla1 Prices were crazy town! Ignore my silly comment about JIC… it just sounded like something unacceptable my British Grandparents would say in the 1980s 😅😵☠️
@demsdayens oh ok got ya
I see what you did here, and I approve.
7:19 It's not Teddy. Its Olympic Mishka (bear) from USSR ( Olympic games 1980s)
@@SunnyDanny_bayo Ahhhh thanks!🙏
Happy holidays everyone! I hope you’re enjoying our trip around Nakano Broadway. Final part will be up in a few days. We’ve got a lot of videos banked waiting to be edited, including the weirdest 7-11 in Japan and some vintage clothes markets in Thailand that Max visited. If you have any suggestions or things you’d like to see us go to let us know!
Lotteria ebi burger is crazy good; it puts McDonald's Filet-O-Fish to shame. It is impossible to find a prawn burger in the UK. Maybe prawns are seen as too good an ingredient to turn into burgers, but Chinese takeaways make prawn toast, which is blended prawns on bread, coated in sesame seeds, and deep-fried, so maybe that's not the case.
Ebi burger is so good. I remember being obsessed with them when I first moved to Japan.
I usually go out to these with my Italian buddies and buy all the junk bin stuff to resell
So it’s you who’s ruining the retro game scene in Japan!!! Nah I’m only joking. If I was visiting Japan on vacation I’d load up an empty suitcase with goods and turn it into a profitable visit. I can’t make selling this stuff in Japan work though. Nearly everything is cheaper on Mercari.
The Mark 3 Sega is a mega find!
I don't know why your videos crack me up, but they for sure do lol. Thanks as always.
@@EvilMenDu Cheers! I’m glad somebody enjoys my stupid humour 😅
Konnichiwa!! Max here. This was a wonderful Hard Off find in the mountains of Fukushima. I hope you guys enjoy me just blasting around doing one of my hobbies 😅 Next week I’ll be joined by Hitomi as we hit up Nakano Broadway. An ancient nerd paradise shopping mall in Tokyo. Where and what would you like to see in Japan??

The Black Rain laser disc would be a great soverner for anyone. It is not one of Ridley Scott's best films, but hang it on a wall.
Yeah classic movies on laserdisc are great for wall art. I have a ton of them hanging up. Usually they’re 100yen though.
But did the PS2 work? Dying to know now 😂
@@liberator2057 Yeah it worked like an absolute dream. I now have a stupidly huge PS2 game collection 😅

@@Mr_ViXanque hell yeah

Japan is a world of cheap treasures right now. You should bring an empty suitcase and load up on junk mate!
Thanks for the comments! That makes sense with the cameras and the humidity. Suddenly I’m checking everything plastic in the junk. I’ve got a friend that buys and sells used cameras like crazy on Yahoo auctions. Seems like a good gig if you have the knowledge!
Hard off is always interesting, the big issue with the cameras is lens fungus. Japan is crazy humid which makes fungus extremely common. Its not that you can't take cameras and lenses apart and clean off the fungus, but a lot of the plastics used are quite brittle/easy to break and the fungus/cleaning can remove the glass coatings so its never quite optically right. As someone who has a large collection of cameras and able to fix them, you used to find some real gems at great prices that could fund a month long holiday, cameras like the Fujifilm Rensha Cardia BYU-N 16 and Minolta P's but those days are long gone.
I want all the shoes please.
Its interesting seeing the common clothing items. At least in the west Japanese raw selvedge denim, indigo dyed items and loop wheeled items are massively hyped and hugely expensive. Minimal branding is preferred. There was the whole bloke core trend, which was odd but a lot of older sports jerseys were hyped for a while. TikTok kids/teens/20 somethings seem to have money to burn with all the micro-trends.
