The Qatar National Library's inauguration in Doha was a truly monumental occasion, one that will be remembered for years to come. The conceptual theme of the show, which was based on the ancient symbol of "Light is knowledge," perfectly encapsulated the significance of this grand opening.
We created this specially designed and tailor-made opening show that was a fusion of magic light effects, interactive dance, and brilliant motion graphics.
The show told the story of how books came to Qatar and how this led to the creation of public libraries. It was accompanied by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra with a specially composed piece. This performance was a true testament to the power of knowledge and the role that the library will play in shaping Qatar's future.
The new Qatar National Library, was designed by the famous architect Rem Koolhaas. He resembled two pieces of paper that are pulled apart and folded diagonally at the corners to create a shell-like structure, enclosing the open-plan interior. The library stands as a beacon of light, illuminating the path to knowledge and understanding for all who enter its doors. It is a shining example of Qatar's commitment to education and its aspirations to be a global leader in the field.
