    So just keep not mention that the absolute encoders needs to be supported by battery in most cases.

    What's the minimum angular accuracy and how does it achieve this?

    • @usdigitalencoders
      @usdigitalencoders 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question! Positional accuracy on a kit style encoder is a function of the rotating disk pattern TIR (Total Indicated Runout) relative to the optical detector. If the assembled disk has 0.001" TIR or less you can expect a positional accuracy of about 6 arcminutes. We cannot give a hard specification on positional accuracy for our kit encoders as the accuracy is a function of the mechanical system on which the encoder is assembled.

  • @the_normal_guy9308

    The problem with this is if you want to use the entire accuracy of the stepper motor you need an encoder with a minimum of 200 * 256= 51200 positions or if you round up. A 16 bit encoder. The cost of that encoder plus the prossesing equipment is 10 times the value of the stepper. If you buy a off the shelf closed loop stepper, it dosent have that good of an encoder. So you have to choose, accuracy, reliability or cost.

    • @usdigitalencoders
      @usdigitalencoders 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are absolutely correct, when designing a motion/feedback system the designer will always need to consider their application's requirements for accuracy, reliability, and cost. In our experience, using an encoder is often beneficial in applications where you are making multi-step movements with a stepper motor.

    is it correct to say that the difference between higher and lower resolution is like the difference between a 1000 meters and a kilometer

    • @usdigitalencoders
      @usdigitalencoders ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. Those are the same distance, if you need to be more granular than a kilometer, it makes sense to break things down into meters. If you don't need to be that granular, it may make sense to keep it in kilometers.

    how to know total pulse in one revolution of encoder of 17bit?its single turn absolute encoder type.

    • @usdigitalencoders
      @usdigitalencoders ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, The total pulses per revolution for an absolute encoder should be equivalent to 2 to the (bit) power. So in this case 2^17 is 131,072. That should be the number of pulses. Be sure to doublecheck with your manufacturer.

    I’m trying to use a genie 1055 garage opener to operate a hand winch that opens a large hangar door. I’m having trouble setting the limits(closed and open positions) since the opener is running the winch it does need to run for a longer period for the door to open and close. It’ll let me run the door all the way up and down when trying to set the limits but won’t save the positions and fails to set limits. Any ideas? Would this many rotations be out of the encoders range possibly? Any information would be helpful By the way great video!

    • @usdigitalencoders
      @usdigitalencoders 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jonas, Thanks so much for reaching out. For obvious reasons we can’t speak to how Genie designed the limits on this garage opener. What we would recommend is that you call them to get clarification on what you are experiencing. We found their customer service phone number: 800-843-4084 Encoders can be (but not always) used in applications like this to control the travel positions. As you pointed out, Genie could have limits for the opener based on the run time or a variety of other factors, we just can’t say. Sorry that isn’t a definitive answer to your question but we hope that is at least provides you with some direction towards an answer.

    • @JonasMarcinko
      @JonasMarcinko 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@usdigitalencoders thanks for the reply! That helps. I did talk with them, they said that there is no limit on the door height but it seems otherwise. I’ll look for another opener. Keep up with the great videos. You guys do a great job.
