BLUECAT OUTDOORS
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 ก.ย. 2022
I’m a low budget outdoorsman who loves the outdoors and everything about it, from hunting and fishing to gardening and canning and beyond. Let me show you how my friends and I do things and with any luck, something we do might help you. By no means am I saying anything we do is the only way. Hell it might not even be the right way but it’s our way, at least until we find a better way that’s affordable. Hope you enjoy our new page and find some helpful or at least entertaining items in it.

Come along with us and listen to siblings banter each other and learn the exact names of the Lures we catch our fish on. All lures are Bandit 300's, so join us and learn the names.

Opening Day in Missouri! Can I get a deer?
Was fun you all
We will definitely do it again, post spawn!
Good times bud, thanks you all.
Any time!
I have jug fish since I was a little kid and love it. I jug around the 6 mile marker the big Nigga, and use live goldfish and pretty successful.
Boring video let them take the bait
I absolutely need to be giving them more time to take the bait. Thanks for the advice.
nice. what bait are you using and what speed are you trolling?
Using Bandit 300's and trolling at 1.5mph. The color that's been working best for us is pink. Anything with a good amount of pink in it has been catching. GOOD LUCK!!
I started saddle hunting last year and it takes some practice before you get in the woods to hunt. After a few hunts I started to get the hang of it.
Absolutely, the more I hunt and practice the more comfortable I get with it. I truly enjoy hunting out of it and hope to do a bunch more this fall. Good Luck this fall!
Great vid. I'd recommend one sticking off the jump, and practicing with your gear in the off season. Even better if you could get rid of sticks altogether and experiment with two tether climbing or using something like the sladder.
I am researching new and different ways to saddle hunt. I really enjoy this system and would like to have some sticks to leave in trees for up to a week at a time(on private ground) and a light easy climbing system for mobility. I will definitely have more videos if I decide to start working on a new system. Thanks for your advice, it's greatly appreciated.
Kind of disappointing. You didn't show any tackle set up. You didn't tell us what bait fish were caught on.
I will work on that. Plan on starting to film some jugging videos soon and I will definitely address this. Than you
WOW THanks
You're welcome!
Had over 30 sits last fall saddle hunting. The one thing I learned and very much suggest to few people that get interested in it. Look at repelling out of the tree vs climbing down even if you’re using steps.
I have been thinking about giving it a try. Seems like it would be quick and easy to learn. Stay tuned, maybe I will give it a try and make a few videos of it. Thanks for the encouragement.
Whats your bottomlands camo pack?
It's the Trophyline C.A.Y.S pack or Carry All Your Shit pack. I love it, it does carry everything. I'm gonna be putting a video out soon of taking all my stuff out of the tree and packing it up in the pack. Hope you look for it and thank you for watching.
Not for me. Traditional stand cant be beat. I dont understand why hunt in a " saddle", especially with so much movement.
Traditional stand is great for a permanent location. The saddle is is a great way of being able to move around to new locations in a quicker, easier way. The movement is completely up to you. I like to move around, but you don't have to. You can sit there as still as a church mouse if you want. Thanks for watching.
Yes cuz deer pick up movement very easily. Good luck
Thanks, good luck to you also, and thanks for watching and responding.
Have to trust the tether and limit some movement. TY
I have trouble sitting still. I always want to swing around or bounce off the tree trunk. I need to work on sitting still more, that is for sure.
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
How much was the whole set up to get started if you don’t mind me asking??
With 2 ascenders and the Trophyline package I bought, it cost me about 900$. You can buy other saddles packages and brands for a little cheaper if u shop around. I saw some basic packages of some other brands for under 500$. That's just ropes and saddle. I got ropes, saddle, platform, climbing sticks, rope pouches and backpack with my bundle. You can definitely find equipment cheaper to get started to see if you would even like saddle hunting.
Good video - like the idea and may have to explore saddle hunting some more. I kind of feel that maybe I am too old...but who knows.
It's a lot easier then you think it would be. It cost me about 900$ to get started buying the Trophyline bundle and ascenders I wanted, but I've enjoyed saddle hunting with it. You're never to old to learn something new. You really should give it a try.
I'm 58.i started saddle hunting in 2021.its easier than trying to hang a stand and so much safer.you just have to be able to climb up.
Simple and beautiful ❤💪🙏
Thank you 🙌
I didn’t realize Darth Vader hunted from a saddle. I’m just messin’ with ya. Thanks for sharing the video.
Darth Vader hunts from wherever he wants. LOL!! Still learning about good mics and mic placement. Thanks for busting my chops. 😆
Ascenders are the way to go but until then, put your tag line through the carabiner and it will make what they call a poor man's ascender
I have received my ascenders and look forward to trying them out. I have a feeling it's gonna be a night and day difference. I will remember that trick for future reference, thank you.
It must be cold out there.
It definitely was.
I am an Indiana native who now lives in Ohio and have been going to Colorado since 2000. We started out going to Wyoming, but it is pretty rugged terrain and almost always windy- real windy. We have had on average about 60% success once we started hunting Colorado. We have done it in many different ways from having base camp and spike camping with horses to packing out on our backs from base camp. The first year my buddy killed a mature cow. She was huge. There are very few her size around anymore because of the CDW decided to reduce the herd size and most of the older cows were killed off. We go 1st rifle and back when we started you could shoot a cow and go into town and buy another license for a second one if you wanted to. The herd went from around 40k elk down to 15-20k. Probably for the best, allows for more food and healthier elk. Opening morning could look like the herd you showed on this video for those that packed in any distance then they would scatter. Now they are in a lot of smaller herds, and if you don't get one on day one it will be a long hunt the rest of the season. We tend to stay within a mile of the trailhead and still do well and it is a hell of a good time. We met a group from PA and they are usually there every other year or so. Nice to meet people from all over. They set up a hell of a camp with multiple canvas tents connected and have a cook area, sleeping area and even a shower tent.... all heated. They hunt from their horses that they rent. We have one 16x20 wall tent and a 12x20 cook tent. Though we started out cold camping in a summer tent from Cabela's.... freaking cold too, but it worked. Good luck to ya. Sorry for the long post but appreciate the video. I love elk hunting.
Loved hearing about your history and how you got started. I've had several trips now to Colorado and have yet to fill a tag, but it's like I tell everyone, it's about the hunt and not the kill. I sure do enjoy the hunt!! I go with my uncle from Pennsylvania who has gone for 54(I believe) straight years. He is in his early 80's now and still climbs the mountains as good as anyone. Thanks again for your comment and goodluck on all your future hunts.
A smart man would have parked and cut the lights instead of harassing and stressing them.
One thing I've never been accused of is being a smart man. Thanks for the advice, I will remember that the next time I have a herd crossing in front me.
@bluecatoutdoors ok you found the limits of my smarts. Lol. ✌️
Herd of Elk
Believe at least 2 herds joined together.
Beautiful
Yes it was!! First time I had ever seen something like this!
Ain't no way anybody gonna notice if you take one home
That would of been the best shot the whole season for me. LOL
Hunny hold my beer we're eating good tonight
Could of eaten dang good!!
Holy crap
That's what I said!!!
Where are you at
COLORADO
So you stress them out further by getting closer. Thunder you vehicle off and enjoy the view🤦♂️🤦♂️
You must not live around elk, believe me they don't give even half a fuck.
Probably should of stayed back more, but that was the first time I had seen a herd and was just a little excited. Will think about it more next time. Thanks for the advice.
Montana?🎉
Colorado
Why creep up on them? Just chill and wait.
Probably should of. Thanks for the advice.
Bunch of people that dont know how to acquire a new technique tellin you to not saddle hunt. For me it was a complete game changer and definitely the most comfortable/safe hunting ive ever done. Ropemans are a good alternative to prusiks. However i srt climb so no need for steps for me only a platform and rope. And rappelling from hunting height to me is the safest easiest and pretty fun way down i use a guide atc to ascend and back it up with a distel hitch above for any accidents. With srt there is never slack introduced to the system so no worry of shock fall (if done right).
Also i forgot to mention any type of tether i use to hold me at hunting height or somewhere i will be hangin for a while i tie a catastophe knot that has just a little slack incase of a prusik/ropeman/ whatever is holding you slips or breaks. So it would be tether from tree to prusik holding your weight and then the rope coming out the back of the prusik with a couple inches of slack and then a good removable knot hooked to your bridge as a second safety. And there are many friction hitches that are easier to break to adjust height than a prusik my favorite at the moment is the distel because it can be broke to lower yourself a little with your full body weight hanging just by pulling down on the top. Which would make me nervous except i always tie the catastrophe not incase it gets away from me.
Thank you for the advice and encouragement to keep trying the saddle. I am looking forward to doing a couple hunts out of it soon.
Big hero's go " hunt " something that shoots back ,see how big a man you are then , assholes
Is that city people in the country? Or is it just a different breed of people out there?
Must be a different breed because sure not city people.
That's sad, look at the devastation of the trees.
It is terrible! Can't hardly walk through Forrest anymore, thanks to the beatle kill.
Elk herds in the backyard season
Definitely getting to that time of year.
Time bro you killed time in the most awesome way possible.
ABSOLUTELY!!
Christmas card!
That's what I thought also.
Beautiful !!!

Thank you!!
You are very welcome!!

Great song
Yes it is!!
How to start saddle hunting- dont
It's definitely not for everyone.
@@bluecatoutdoors . I prefer my assault and three sticks. I use my saddle as a safety harness now
I have the same trophy line setup, I got 2 rope mans and it makes life much easier.
Just got mine in. Can't wait to get back from Colorado hunt to try them out.
Daisy chain your lineman rope... then clip it to your lineman loop
I will give that a try. Thank you!
Owned up the mistake some humble pie breakfast for that man
Eat it a lot it seems. LMAO!
