Cosmic - as in God-awful.
The second one is better than sufferable.
Of historical interest maybe. ... Otherwise eye-rolling.
wonderful! i love webern

Wonderful piece from a much overlooked composer
Very interesting as well, what an intense work, it sounds to me as a mixture of Brahms, Reger and Scriabin, maybe even Berg's piano sonata. Thanks for the upload.
Very interesting, I' ve never heard of this composer before. It is quite expressive and it sounds a bit like Schönberg's op. 11 with the predilection for melodies with alternating thirds. I can understand why Glenn Gould was attracted to this music. Thank you for sharing.
So cool, love Berg
Farting Valen
This last tonal score by Alban Berg exhibits a very large extension of the tonal circle, here in an expressionist aesthetics .
Quiero que mis mañanas suenen como este Cuckooo
This is awesome❤

Far too much wobbling. This music requires straight tones. Such a shame that the Webern performances of Josephine Nendick have either not survived or are languishing in the BBC archives.
Beautiful!

Without criticizing this music, I think it is safe to presume that it has a very, very limited audience. That said, I find it interesting that slightly over 2000 people turned it on since 2020. The comments here were written by people who liked it. I think. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
I applaud your skepticism. Webern's music is of more historical than intrinsic interest. But members of the Cult of Webern can't tell the difference.
Le chant est un ton au-dessus ce qui et gênant quand on veut chanter avec
Can’t find the third act 😢
The singer's voice is heavy even in soft passages, and not especially expressive. I hope listeners will seek out Jan DeGaetani's luminous performance of these songs before dismissing them.
in n°2, very close to the piano sonata
❤

Hier soir, à Luçon, interprété à l'orgue monumental et à la flûte, dans la cathédrale : immenses résonance et douceur.
spectacular!
Organ pedal.
I've been listening to some Babbitt, Carter and Boulez (oh my!) and what this has that they don't is this incredible, gnarly rhythmic drive. Half the time I could convince myself that this is a free improvising jazz pianist like Cecil Taylor. The serialists really put the kibosh on rhythm as a driving force in music. Which can be cool, to be sure.
avant-garde classical
Love the bit from 1:24:30 that sounds like some rad Debussy/Mahler mashup
19:00, this part is so beautifully orchestrated. So beautiful. So ethereal.

The closing music of act one when Marie gives herself over to the drum major is a shower of sound that is so shattering it defies description and must be heard.

I love this music,thankyou
the only serialist piece I can actually stand (because it has a narrative) hahaha😂
watch lulu, it’s even better IMO
FASTER, FASTER
There is actually lots to say about the poetry. The symbolism of these verses forms kind of a poetic bridge between Germany and France where politics only created aggression, because George held in high esteem the French symbolists Mallarmé and Verlaine whom he considered his only equals.
