I like the key Em/G as I'm a baritone.🐨
My strumming is not so soft and smooth yet, I exaggerate so I feel the rhythm and my right hand goes automatically without thinking.
Bravissima
Thank You!
Which of your books does this pair with?
There isn't one yet, just lots of video lessons. I have a Jazz one in the projects que that will pair well with it, and there's also a new Theory and Technique one that will come out soon. It will be full of a lot of helpful things for Jazz playing. Best Wishes!
Thanks for sharing Dr Kristen.🐨
My pleasure! 💝
27 seconds "Boys Dont Cry" intro.
Thanks for making that connection!
I played on a track Flying High by Eva Shubert. Tell me what you think of my comping on it
That's Cool! Nicely Done!
It was all one take with bass and drums in live room. Don't like the trumpet that was added later
Is that a Benodito guitar
Yes, it's a custom Benedetto Bravo Elite.

Nice playing !!! How do you like that Guild polara ? Nice color !😁👌
Thank You! I really enjoy it, it's a vintage instrument, so it's definitely seen some milage, but it's special for sure.
What guitar is that?
It's a Custom, Benedetto Bravo Elite
Difficult one Lesson material, but very important!😪😪
It's tricky stuff for sure. Although, if you start with the following lesson and work through the theory ones that follow until you get here, it may be easier to understand. Best Wishes! th-cam.com/video/v2Vi18V6xu4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NNiJQmVPFW1bhs-T

As an advanced beginner, I am delighted to have found your lessons. This is perfect for my skill level, helping me fill in some gaps in my understanding of the blues scale. And as an engineer in my 50s, I dig the whiteboard. As you are improvising, you periodically play two strings. Is there a method to this? While just about any note in the Pentatonic scale can work, pairs of notes in the scale seem much more limited as to where they can fit into the backing track. Perhaps this is covered in a later lesson?
Thank You! Glad you found me too! When it comes to playing more than one note at a time, I do it pretty intuitively. Any two notes can be combined, but they don't always sound the best over certain chords, as you pointed out. Playing the ones that fall in the same fret tend to work on the top two strings, or second and third string, pretty well. That's what I do the most, but there may be times where it creates a lot of tension with a particular chord, in which case I would avoid doing it there or just move off of it and find a resolution, rather than sitting on it. That way it creates a nice tension and release moment and doesn't sound wrong. I hope that helps! Best Wishes! 🤗

Thank You! 🥰
Your phrasing reminds me of Jimmy Vaughn. It always swings
You are so kind. I never really thought about it, but you're right, I'm always swinging. Maybe it's because of all the time I've spent doing Jazz. Thank you for making that connection! 🥰
i am 3 year older beginner. looks like i need to be a rocket scientist to really learn guitar.
😃 this and some of the other theory lesson could give that impression for sure.... of course you don't have to learn the theory to play the guitar, yeehaw, and there are many lessons on the channel that just work on playing things and having fun! Best Wishes! Thanks for making me smile! 🤗
Thanks.

I just started paying attention when she said when walking to the d. You can approach it from above...... i'm not a musician, but this sounds kinda fun

Awesome Guild Polara!

Thanks for sharing Dr Kristen.🐨
My pleasure! Thank You!
I think I should play with the drummer , like say, Kenny Burrell . I don't see what you are saying about hitting a note late . especially comping. But your teaching is great and you are doing a service to mankind.
I hear yah... sometimes just playing comping rhythms intuitively based on things picked up from listening is more useful than trying to understand things cognitively, although when learning to read and interpret written rhythms it can help to talk through and work through various rhythms.
so grateful for your work!
So nice of you, thank you! 😊
