Minor Pentatonic and Blues Scale Form 4 and Soloing over a Vamp in Bb Major - Soloing Lesson 13
Blues, Rock, and Pop Style Backing Track, Power Chord Progression in Bb, 155 bpm - th-cam.com/video/jwXWcyoWL3Q/w-d-xo.html
Dr. Kristen R. Bromley is a Guitar Artist and Expert. This course covers soloing in the Blues, Rock, and Popular styles in a fun and interactive way. In this Lesson, which is Lesson 13 in the series, Dr. Bromley reviews the minor pentatonic and blues scale forms with the lowest root on the sixth, fifth, and fourth strings, which were taught previously, and introduces the form that has the lowest root on the third string, specifically working it with an interactive play-along session over a grooving power chord vamp that has the following progression: Bb5, Ab5, Eb5, and Bb5. The backing track used in the lesson is also available on the channel. See the above link for help finding the backing track videos.

    As an advanced beginner, I am delighted to have found your lessons. This is perfect for my skill level, helping me fill in some gaps in my understanding of the blues scale. And as an engineer in my 50s, I dig the whiteboard. As you are improvising, you periodically play two strings. Is there a method to this? While just about any note in the Pentatonic scale can work, pairs of notes in the scale seem much more limited as to where they can fit into the backing track. Perhaps this is covered in a later lesson?

    • @dr.kristen.r.bromleys.academy
      @dr.kristen.r.bromleys.academy 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank You! Glad you found me too! When it comes to playing more than one note at a time, I do it pretty intuitively. Any two notes can be combined, but they don't always sound the best over certain chords, as you pointed out. Playing the ones that fall in the same fret tend to work on the top two strings, or second and third string, pretty well. That's what I do the most, but there may be times where it creates a lot of tension with a particular chord, in which case I would avoid doing it there or just move off of it and find a resolution, rather than sitting on it. That way it creates a nice tension and release moment and doesn't sound wrong. I hope that helps! Best Wishes! 🤗

      I hear yah... sometimes just playing comping rhythms intuitively based on things picked up from listening is more useful than trying to understand things cognitively, although when learning to read and interpret written rhythms it can help to talk through and work through various rhythms.
