Thanks. They are probably too tight. I think you'd have to remove the old ones. Plus there are rings in the headrest area that would have to go through the old vinyl and I don't think you'd have the space to secure them properly. Good luck!

Awesome what color did you go with

We wanted the metallic gold but it seems to be out of stock everywhere. So we went with a mocha color.

@inkandpistons sadly yes. After buying a house I realized a truck would be very helpful and then found out about kei trucks. Was excited at first since it is a perfect truck for basic home needs. Compact, great gas mileage, cheap, not a pile of rust that someone's wants 5k+ for, etc. So I checked with my friend that did importing for a few years. He informed me that the NY DMV will not register any kei truck. They deemed them unsafe. Checked the DMV and they have it explicitly stated no kei trucks. He did say the a nissan atlas is allowed since it counts as a full size. But they all seem to be significantly more expensive and get the same gas mileage as a standard truck. Which kind of defeats the point.

@@scow01do you know anybody in a neighboring state that'll let you register it to them? They can't stop you from driving there. Probably save on insurance. Not being in New York anyway lol

@inkandpistons for a while you could register one in Vermont. Then Vermont decided to nix that as well. Seems like the only way I've come across so far is by creating an LLC in Montana and then registering the kei truck under the LLC. Though I don't know of anyone that has done that.

@@troykatt05 I originally contacted Max racing and they said they had one but then after waiting a few weeks they said they didn't have it in stock so I'm still searching too. I think I'm going to try to reinstall the stock springs on the car in the next couple weekends when I get a chance

@@troykatt05 another guy in my group said that he was able to find an 8-in spring and preload it. I'll find out what version he got. I think he said his were 5K which should work out to about 300 lb

He said he grabbed Swift springs. I found those too they are just not cheap about 180bucks

yeah i thought i showed that in the video around the 14 minute mark but i used a spray epoxy coating after wire brushing the welds on the outside.. i probably didnt show it but i did spray the inside as well

Very true, although I suppose you could probably install a crash bar up in the front if you really wanted to. Also guess it depends on what city you live in. You see him all around Tokyo but nobody's really doing more than 35 mph anyway and generally pretty good drivers

I think easy ISF also has an option to clear the customs for you and then maybe they'll send you that form ahead of time

@@inkandpistonsyeah they never really sent me like, copies of completed forms per say. I do have copies with everything filled out minus things like their own signatures or anything filled out on customs end, but i would hope if i show up at the customs office in jacksonville and show my release documents they should have anything else on file.

@@BeeBee514 sometimes your broker can have it released to a different lot after they clear it from customs. So you don't even have to go to the port or anything.

@@inkandpistonsat the moment my current pickup location is on the port, but luckily i have a twic card so ill just have to check in with customs to make sure I am good to go.

I don't think they have to witness it in person i'm not sure though. The the company I use is a package deal. After translating the document, I believe the "certified" translator is just stating that they are legally qualified to do the translation from Japanese. The notary is just to notarize that statement from the translator, so that's between the translator and their notary how they confirm it. If you are using another translator company i couldn't say. rapid translate is who i used.

The only thing I think you can do is if you used an intermediary broker you could send them payment and then they can send the payment electronically to the CBP. Past that I don't know.

Yeah I know. If you watch the video The whole point was they were way more expensive, not easily available, and I was getting them to trouble shoot an issue.

I do almost everything myself it's all relatively easy stuff. I did have a shop help me on my mini van when we were trying to trouble shoot the stalling that was happening.. (next video) and I just did a coil over install myself. It's all pretty easy stuff if you like problem solving and wrench turning

@@inkandpistons, is it easier and/or cheaper to buy one yourself or through a dealer here in the states if you live in Kansas and can't get to a port city?

@@oromis16 that is hard to say. If you have a truck and a trailer (or you can even load it up on a small U-Haul trailer). It might be worth it to head down to Texas and pick it up from that port. From what I've been seeing, most people buying them from us-based importers/dealers are paying between 8 and 10 grand for a decent condition truck. If you do it all yourself you can probably get one for closer to 5000 in similar shape and then the cost of going to get it, registration, hotel, trailer.. your still probably ahead of the game.

I haven't really had any experience with them personally. I do think they are pretty cool. Generally very well equipped comparatively . I almost bought a hijet mullet van.. it's like got a mini cargo bed but mostly van pretty cool.. are you in the us? You may not be able to register it for 2 more years

im not sure what a diahatsu "naked" is but sounds good to me LOL. I think that the elements are pretty cool and you have the advantage of findable parts in the states.. but something about a odd car no one else has.. naked or not.. :)

Oh awesome I haven't been able to find front and rear for the speigles. I have a set of 5k springs on order from Max speed. Better then 8k but may still be too stiff. I might even be able to flatten the end out and use the stock spring. At least I know the rate is good on that one. Yeah the brake conversion was easy peasy other than the caliper position. I reused the bearings after I checked them out they looked almost new just lubed them up good and went with it..

@@inkandpistons I will be inquiring with Spiegel in Japan to find out if the full kit is still available.....We'll see. Definitely softer springs will be needed for me, though.....Kidneys are getting too old. haha. Glad the esteem brakes worked out. I will be going that route for sure. Thanks again.

@@inkandpistons Good morning sir. Quick question....Your wheels do not rub on the van body, correct? I am trying to measure fitment for wheels that I am buying for my Every.....Thank you!

@@florida__jack well define rub.. lol, no not really. So there is a slight rub on the left wheel on the mud guard full lock wheels pointed to the left but only in reverse backing up. And an even less slight rub full lock right going forward. Very very minimal.. it actually happened on the stock shocks and new coils.. but with stock shocks the would rub on front side at the part that wraps under the body.. again very minimal. I think how much weight in the car would effect it. the truck with the same suspension setup doesn't rub at all anywhere.. I have a video when I put the wheels on (I think it's called living with a kei truck 10 pros and cons) that has all the wheel and tire specs.. But I believe they are 15x8 plus 20 offset with a 195 45 15 tire.. double check that video

I think somebody did a Sambar swap but I don't remember what they used as the source coilovers. I'll see if I can find it..

Then after you are ok'd You need the translated title. All the approved customs paperwork and EPA forms bill of sale and proof of insurance.. then DMV and pay

sorry just saw this comment.. i kind of mention it in my first video on importing but you need the van inspected by the DMV in FL, then all the port documents.. a "certified" title translation and proof of insurance.
