EXCERPT FROM JOHN SHUTTLEWORTH LIVE
From the forthcoming video "JOHN SHUTTLEWORTH LIVE AT PEAK CAVERN". This gig - in October 2022 - was a return visit for John after a fan nearly fell of a nearby cliff on his way to the original show in May, which had to be cancelled and rescheduled. A full version of the second gig will be available in early 2025 to coincide with the 40th Anniversary tour "RAISE THE OOF!", and the release of John's new book!

The Hacienda Nightclub (October 21st 1983)
มุมมอง 2.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Years before the Hacienda became popular, it was simply cool, and not many people went. Here's a glimpse of inside the iconic Manchester night club, as shot on my VHS video camera on Friday October 21st 1983.
The Man with the Smile

In 1990 I was working as an actor at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle Under Lyme. It was a strange time in many ways - not least in that I felt compelled to write a ridiculously silly TV script (with fellow thespian Edward York) and then film it on my home video kit, taking advantage of an abundance of fine (and free!) acting talent in my immediate vicinity. The results have remained hidden (pe...

Another golden nugget from the archives: I BASH 'EM was my attempt to highlight (in a satirical and darkly humorous way) the subject of domestic violence. Please note: no humans or animals were hurt in the making of this video.

HA HA DEBORAH by THE POP GUNS

In 1983 - two years before I recorded my indie album, Love At The Hacienda - I wrote a clutch of pop songs that required a young girl singer. In stepped 16 year old Manchester schoolgirl Gemma Wilson who was perfect in every way for this 'Mamas And Papas meets the Double Deckers' vision I had. Despite a session at EMI and a play of this track by Janice Long on Radio 1, our efforts came to nothi...
OLD MAN MURDERS SCOTT JOPLIN

I found this curious and captivating performance on an old VHS tape and it is from a live music show I filmed at Alexandra Park Library in North London sometime in the late 1980s. Apologies for calling this amazing artiste an 'Old man", but all I know is he was called Billy. If anyone recognises him or can shed more light on his name, life, piano teacher etc, please do leave a comment. Thanks f...
JILTED JOHN AT ERICS MAY 12TH, 1978 HD 720p
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In May 1978, even before Jilted John had been released, and 3 months before it entered the UK Charts, a shambolic gig took place at the legendary Liverpool club, Erics. It was filmed, and an audio version released on 'Jilted Jam' in 2018. However, until recently - the video version was missing and presumed lost..

The B side to the single ‘Some Boys’ and - like the A side - intended as a humorous exploration of male sexuality, and in particular a swipe at the sexist machismo of Heavy Metal music at the time. Looking back at it 38 years later - god knows what it is! Look out for the late, great Chris Sievey (Frank Sidebottom) on bass, although he wisely he keeps his face hidden throughout..

That wouldn't happen to be a very young Peter Serafinowicz @ 1:42 would it?!
I hope thats not mary, darren and karen😂
Are those cream coloured slacks the same ones that John Shuttleworth wears?
It's in Mono, left channel only. Should've been mixed into double mono therefore creating stereo...Ooooooof.
Anyone know if there's a higher quality version of this song?
The communal bath scene is hilarious! I would like to think that rugby players still enjoy such things but I suspect that this naked soapy mass frivolity has been banned
Where is this funfair? I remember the caterpillar ride! The video is fantastic, the ending out of this world. Beautiful song too. Glad to hear post-Jilted John music now, missed it first time round. Better late than never! Buying the CD ASAP. Need "Some Boys," "I Go Red" and "I Bash 'Em" and others from that time. I'm convinced Mr Fellows and Chris Sievey pioneered 60's-influenced indie pop style in the 1970s/80s, inspiring Dan Treacy and Edward Ball of the Television Personalities/The Times, and several more I imagine.
Is this really from 1981?? I can hear a lot of influences in there from music which came much later...There’s a real ‘vicar in a tutu’ feel to it
That’s absolutely bloody hilarious!
This is wonderful
Is that Bill Drummond on guitar??
Everyone should go and see John at least once in their lifetime. That other bloke, Graham Fellows is equally brilliant
I'm excited to be seeing JS at Shrewsbury early next year. Hope his neighbour and long time agent Ken makes an appearance at sometime in the evening, I will buy him a Malibu to congratulate getting JS a major national tour.
Blimey!
I think Oasis must’ve signed with “ Kenny Music “ coz the ticket fiasco stinks of Ken Worthington…. I hope theirs a flask of Coke in the dressing room for the boys during the interval
Look forward to seeing you at Liverpool next year.
I would wave my lighter Mr Shuttlesworth, but a combination of health and safety and having little fuel in it has stopped me in my tracks. The new video will be applied to my Christmas list as soon as I park up.
You are easily the funniest person I’ve ever seen live - I always end up having to stifle my laughs because I almost end up on the floor in tears and helpless 😆👍
actually preceded early pj harvey here !!
Shows how your memory plays tricks...I watched this first time round and have always thought he'd said ''...I know what it's like to be jilted...'', as an in-joke. In fact, he comes out with a similar type of line, but not that actual phrase.
Never mind Lennon /Mcartney, thats what i call a song 😊. Ps is that Mary?
Brilliant 😂, ah takes u back. Love it when he says "you want to hold it, just sits in your hand"
Should have made him a permanent character 😂
Jilted John 😄
Banging
Johns childhood inspiration.
Just brilliant 🤩
I always thought this song was about pigeons for some reason
It's about men with animal related hobbies. So you're right.
It’s truly astonishing what can be achieved with CGI these days.
Not a patch on Plonkers Bedsit…
Great work from Bernard the Moron
That Ken Worthington put John up to this I’ll bet. He’s a chump.
Ooof! Not a patch on plonkers bedsit.
Oof! Where's Ken?
You walked right through that solid oak bar counter John! That was very clever of you, though I say it myself.
Love it 😂
Amazing footage
Thanks. Glad you think so!
Hotpot Betty loveee!
Oof
1:44 There's a posse of psychobillies hanging round by the boating lake/pond/puddle/place...🕺🏼🤸🤼🤾🚶🏾♂️
Gail Shuttleworth has a ring to it.
I'm hoping Djokovic can still get one more, or may be two more Grand Slams before he retires, but it is getting a lot harder.
I don't know how this comment ended up on the wrong video??!! I was watching a tennis news channel.
@@bhangrafan4480 - I'm a Novak fan! he's the GOAT
@@marcokite Agreed!
Brian is a moron!
Thank goodness he didn’t ask for the hot 🥵 pot!
He saw a pigeon in flight. Legend.

Why did we only see Betty Turpin when she was working?
Baldwin is a moron!
Groovy 🍄 & Grace Jones ❤
Happy 65th birthday, Mr Fellows!
