PART 2 of our 3 month trip around Europe. We left family and started our solo voyage. This episode takes us along the West coast of France stopping going through the major cities of La Rochelle and Biarritz and onto the border with Spain. This was the first time that we had done a road trip this far south-west in France, so it was all new and exciting. We did not anticipate how straight and fla...

I have owned this BMW F700GS for a year now and I am selling it in order to get a bigger bike. I thought that I would give my views on the bike before passing it on. We went on trips all over the UK including Scotland and the Outer Hebrides, and it was pretty much faultless throughout. I hope you enjoy the review, if you have any questions please comment down below! Boondock Puffins. Music from...

Motorcycle Camping Trip - Outer Hebrides PART 1
Test drive one today. I passed my test in July and have had a Meteor 350 for a few months. The 700 will be my first ‘proper’ bike, I’m looking forward to it. Ex police trainer apparently, 23k miles but serviced every 4,000 miles
Ive just stumbled across your channel searching for Basque motorcycling. We are doing Portsmouth to Santander at the end of this month! We are staying south of San Sebastian and here for a weeks worth of riding and exploring. We are using one hotel as a base and doing rideouts most days. Youve certainly given us some lovely roads to try.👍
dude your Gopro Point of view is bad man ! show the speedometer and handle bar too man
Spent 10 days in Northern and Eastern Spain in 2010 on a GS, I remember fantastic roads.
We definitely would go back, roads were incredible!
great episode guys!! I think this is my favourite video so far X Super well done - great photography/videography, editing, music and narration.
Thank you!! So much footage to go through still 😅
Awesome video! 👍
Thank you Tony! 😄
Awesome video and some stunning scenery! I need to get there on my bike soon. Looking forward to the next episode. ✊👍
Thanks Big Tony! The ferry to Bilbao makes it very easy! 😎🏍️🛳️
Great video, thanks for uploading 🙂
Thank you very much!
How is this for tall riders? Im 6'6 looking for a adventure bike
I would definitely look at the F800GS or F850GS then, I believe they are taller than the F700GS and much better suited to adventure biking (more suspension carry, spoked wheels...etc) I found that the F700GS was actually quite low and I am only a mere 5'10 haha. I would imagine you would feel very cramped on it. I may be wrong about this, and maybe other tall people find it fine but that would be my guess.
Just bought one...thanks for the review...
No worries! Happy riding, hope the bike is going well!
i went to the Vosges in France this year, my son on his Tenere and me on my Africatwin 😎 Father son moments are the best
Only finding these comments now, sounds like an awesome trip. They are truly awesome moments!
You’re moving too fast. Try slow it down if possibles. A bit difficult to follow your video. Interesting btw. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Haha will try to, it was because I did not get much footage the first well, so just putting together what I had. Glad you found it somewhat interesting!
Hello are you selling this bike
Hello, I sold it over a year ago!
It is possible to replace the brake pads by simply dismantling the pins and shaft that hold them in place.
It is indeed, I always just use the time to clean the callipers and pistons while I am doing it is all.
Bonus item is one of the better ones!
Epic video!!
How do you know what peages are free?
They often have signs that will let you know beforehand - we just missed the sign I think 😂. But many of the peages are not free for motorbikes!
Ohh.....good list there. Def. interested to hear about the mini speaker (we took one last week to france but it was slightly larger), the fan & light (what a fab idea - is this USB charged?) and the saucepan set (we could do with a new one). Think we had everything else covered, if space allows over time, would love to carry the charging mat. In a future video, maybe you could cover what mattress and sleeping bag you carry :-)
We will be doing some reviews shortly answering all those questions! And we are definitely planning on doing what kit we use for our sleeping arrangements. We have amazingly small sleeping bags that can zip together and are not crazy expensive!
P r o m o s m 👇
Nice, looked like a lot of fun 🙂
Lovely ride! 😊
You did like me the first time. Clean the inside when the pistons are still out ....thanks for you video
if you want to hear what it really can sound like (even though you sold yours), i have a video testing out the akrapovic exhaust pipe on it, and another video testing out the mivv exhaust pipe on it which is what i currently have
PS: I'm your 100th subscriber, way to go!
What a difference the mivv exhaust made! I would definitely have considered doing that if I still had the bike. Did it make any noticeable difference to performance?
Amazing! I have been waiting a while for that, thank you!!
Epic video! Like the mix of content. Dinkulsguhburry looks epic!

What month did u do this mate..great vid by the way.
We did this is April, so it was always going to be a bit risky with the weather conditions. Thank you very much
Nice video mate... Doing the same in europe in Sept. Looking forward to this.. its good info for those travelling. Subscribed.
Thank you very much! I am sure you will love it, we saw some amazing places. Feel free to ask any questions about the trip before you leave.
I've been searching for carburetor parts for my Yamaha SR 125 Special for a while now. Could you possibly help me find what I'm looking for? Thank you!
You gorgeous people - flip flops in zero degrees???? Brrrrrr!!
Love this channel and the excitement camping brings! I like the pearls of wisdom as well.
Thanks - interesting video. Bit harsh from your pillion about the Honda 750 though!😂
Always good to have the right tools! Tony Twistgrip
Epic trip dudes! Some pretty impressive helmet hair too!😂
Great video! Some challenging conditions too.
Howdy from Texas! Good to see a couple on a long moto tour. Look forward to your next video.
Hello! Thank you so much. Do you do any long tours in the US? It looks so good for motorcycle touring 😎
@@boondockpuffins3760 I used to when I was younger. I find myself trailering my bikes to track days or fun destinations.
We had similar on our Scottish tour end of April...electric gloves are King.
Electric gloves were a life saver for Eliza! Even with my heated grips, without electric gloves I was struggling. Hope some of your trip had good weather!
Cute room. But weather yuk!!! (Honest O’P here btw.)
Hello! Yes, it was truly terrible! But makes for a good story (positive thinking).
Any recommendations on how to keep warm? Burgers are always a good choice! Great channel!
Don't travel when it's cold is probably the best way to stay warm haha.
Big thanks from northern Minnesota, good video and easy to follow
Thank you very much! I am about to make a video on disc replacement as my back disc are now due, very satisfying doing it yourself and saving the money!
35 thumbs up no comments so thank you from me here in UK. Managed to do it without removing wheel. One of my pads had tin cover over the back of it and a spacer piece suddenly appeared so I am guessing they were both specific to the pads fitted as like you I just fitted the new ones. Pretty sure I'll soon find out if I have left anything out. Only joking . Stay safe.
Thank you very much! It does sound like they were specific to the pads. haha I hope the braking went well! I am about to make a video on disc replacement as my back disc are now due, very satisfying doing it yourself and saving the money!
@Boondock Puffins Writing this from my hospital bed .... only joking again.Yes it went OK & I actually realised where the spacer fitted. Like you if I can I work on the bike myself as dealers costs are so expensive. Got friends with Beemers & Harleys who use dealers & some of their costs you could buy another cheap motorcycle. Horrendous !.
Looks fantastic...one day I'll take the royal enfield up there!
You won't regret it! But I would suggest packing some very good waterproofs haha.
Hi , amazingly spectacular trip , breath taking views as well , thx for video
It was truly awesome! Thank you very much!
What attracts me in this BMW, is it's very low dry weight; only 410lbs, so far couldn't find another 800c bike with such a low dry weight...Owning at present a true classic, a Suzuki GS750 from '79, (that same model I rode from '77 till '81) so, that was a trip down memory lane, and while I attract a lot of looks from every person who sees it, it's heavy: dry weight is 492lbs, now, 41 years ago that didn't bother me, but that stamina is long gone....LOL, so thinking now of getting such a BMW....
An absolute classic though! Did you get a new bike in the end?
@@boondockpuffins3760 Not as yet, I think I'll ride this bike till end of season, and then decide to sell it (I'll be 70 in November) or to exchange it for such a BMW F700GS, if I feel that I've got some stamina left, LOL
Just came across your review as am looking into one luckily found one, did you get your new bike?
Hello, I did indeed get a new bike. Rather boringly we went with the R1200GS. It has been so so good for us though with being 2-up and heavily laden. In an ideal world I would also have a smaller middleweight to nip around on, but need money first!
Good Video keep going
Thank you very much, I am back from spending a year living in the French alps. So I am very excited to start making more videos and riding my bike again!
This is a good video and review covering some of the characteristics of the F700GS, but those are overshadowed by the “bigger is better” perspective. Riding and motorcycle preferences are subjective so I think it’s important viewers take this video in context and read other observations. From someone who was considering bigger and owns two middleweight bikes. I thought the video missed why someone might prefer and be best served by a middleweight bike vs a larger 1000cc or more bike. First, If you travel 2up and loaded with luggage/gear, you may benefit from a larger more powerful bike. Secondly, if you’re on long highway runs frequently, a larger bike will likely be more stable or planted as the reviewer comments. And lastly if you want 100+HP for launches into the triple digits on the speedo with your passenger, then….that’s another issue. However, If you’re making jaunts in town/urban, carving mountain roads or trails, you may feel more in control on a middleweight; while also being a well suited on the highways as well. Sure you can do the technical stuff on a large bike, but it’s easier on middleweights and smaller. Secondly, If you’re riding mostly solo with gear, as a larger rider myself, this bike, and my Bonneville T100, are more than capable. After years on a middleweight, and over a year on the the F700GS riding in every situation these bikes are capable of, I’ve found it much more than capable. BTW-They make larger screens for the F700/800GS such as MADSTAD. After trying two tall GIVI screens and a MRA spoiler, I elected to fabricate a flyscreen.
Hello, thank you for your comment. I take your point entirely, in my head I thought that I was clear that this bike is more than suitable for every need. I think I was being specific to our situation, where being 2-up and fully laden is more suited to a bigger bike (and has been so much more comfortable). Definitely did not get it to speed around with a pillion! I think if I was riding solo I would elect for a middleweight as well, especially for the off-road capabilities. I am a huge middleweight fan, so I may have to do another video championing them so I don't come across as a big adv bike knob!
Great video! My nephew owns a 2015 BMW F700GS. I recently purchased a KTM 890 Adventure, but I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision. Heh-heh. I noticed that all the trucks I saw on the roads had the forward control cabs (we call them cab-overs or cab-over-engine here in the States). They used to be popular here in the 1970s, but a lot of states repealed and/or revised their load length laws and now most trucks here use the bonnet style cabs. Cheers! Enjoy your new motorbike.
Thank you! How has the KTM been?! I have always heard mixed things about some of them, but I have never owned one so this is all rumours. Interesting about the trucks, I think the bonnet style ones look cooler!
Liked & subbed 👍🏼
Thank you! Much appreciated. I am back from living in the French Alps for a year and SO looking forward to making more videos and riding my bike again!
This is a great video! I'm looking at getting the F700gs and this video was really great at getting an insight into the bike.
Thank you very much!
I'm getting this bike next week... very nice looking forward to owning it. It's from 2013... I had a honda cbr 600 rr before so this is a way different riding style
How have you gotten on with it?
