Do you think the ASA system will be incorporated into models like the F800GS or will it only be used with boxer engines? It would be very interesting if it were incorporated into almost the entire range.

It will work like this until the day BMW decides to update the software with any excuse or to make the 1400 better

I thought my old Twin-Cam made a racket. Is the noise that bad riding or did you put the mic on top of the engine? Sounds horrible.
The camera was under the helmet peak. It's not that bad when riding.
Wczoraj przetestowałem asystenta zmiany biegów czyli system ASA w BMW R1300 GS, od razu dodam że to nie jest skrzynia automatyczna. O ile w trybie - M - czyli zmiany biegów przez kierowcę za pomocą nożnej dźwigni działa to świetnie, dosłownie jak ulepszony quic-shifter czyli zmieniamy biegi w górę i dół, to przy np. hamowaniu awaryjnym lub gdy zwyczajnie prędkość spadnie poniżej zakresu obrotowego dla danego biegu - system zmieni biegi w dół. Jeśli tylko się toczymy na minimalnej prędkości to cały czas zapięty jest bieg 2, dopiero po zatrzymaniu wrzuca na 1- kę. Niestety dużo gorzej działa asystent w trybie - D - oczywiście zmienia biegi zarówno w górę jak i dół, natomiast zwłaszcza podczas dynamicznego przyspieszania następuje spore szarpnięcie, czyli jakby przyhamowanie i dopiero za moment motocykl przyspiesza, najgorzej to działa gdy chcąc wyprzedzić jakiś pojazd jedziemy w niskim zakresie obrotów danego biegu i chcąc przyspieszyć dodamy gwałtownie gazu, motocykl zredukuje wtedy o jeden bieg w dół, a efekt szarpnięcia jest bardzo duży co może zwyczajnie przestraszyć kierowcę ! Na szczęście w trybie - D - zawsze i w każdym momencie możemy wymusić jazdę na danym biegu poprzez działanie nogą na dźwignię biegów, która de facto w ogóle nie jest połączona mechanicznie ze skrzynią, jest tam tylko moduł wyłącznika, tak więc przyspieszając przy chęci redukcji lepiej jest użyć dźwigni, bo wtedy szarpnięcie nie występuje. Kolejną wadą trybu - D - jest "eko sreko" czyli nawet w trybie "Dynamic" GS-a system dąży do jak najbardziej oszczędnej jazdy w tym celu wrzuca biegi wyższe nawet przy niskiej prędkości motocykla, działa to podobnie jak tryb "Drive" w DCT Hondy. Tak więc jazda w trybie - D - jest jak dla mnie bardzo wkurzająca, bo nawet jak nogą zredukujemy bieg, to skrzynia za chwilę z powrotem przełącza na bieg wyższy. Co do wolnych manewrów to działa to jak w skuterze czy skrzyni DCT, czyli system w pewnym momencie rozłączy układ napędowy gdy prędkość będzie zbyt niska, zdecydowanie więcej kontroli mamy przy użyciu zwykłego sprzęgła. BMW chlubi się tym że w trybie - D - jest duża płynność, co zapobiega uderzaniu się kaskami między pasażerem a kierowcą, całkowicie się z tym nie zgadzam, uważam że ten system jest wysoce niedopracowany ale tylko w trybie - D. Przy trybie - M - wszystko działa znakomicie, pytanie tylko czy jest sens ubierać się w kolejną komplikację tak prostej rzeczy jak zmiana biegów i praca sprzęgłem ? Owszem z tym systemem poradzi sobie każdy ciołek, nawet taki który nigdy motocyklem nie jeździł 😉 Reasumując - podczas wczorajszego testu systemu ASA w BMW R1300 GS porównywałem go do skrzyni DCT od Hondy i według mnie w ogóle nie ma porównania zwłaszcza pod kątem płynności przełączania biegów, gdzie w Hondzie działa to aksamitnie. Jedyną zaletą ASA w porównaniu do DCT jest masa tego ustrojstwa (ASA waży - 2,1 kg. a DCT - 10 kg.), więc jak ktoś szykuje się do zakupu GS-a z tym "automatem" to odradzam, póki nie poprawią jej wad, czyli głównie tego szarpania i przełączania biegów non stop na wyższe nawet przy niskiej prędkości, gdzie silnik pracuje w zakresie obrotów 2'500 - 3'500 obr. maks. Dodam jeszcze że jadąc z ASA cały czas słyszymy stukanie.. oczywiście w trybie - D - co też nieco wkurza. Jak mam być szczery to wolę zwykłą skrzynię biegów z quick-shifterem (zmieniacz biegów Pro) niż ten niedopracowany wynalazek.
Na samym początku też miałem mieszane uczucia. Szarpanie przy zmianie biegów było irytujące, bo nie wiadomo było kiedy dokładnie nastąpi i nie dało się na to przygotować zmieniając pozycje ciała. Teraz albo to ustało po dotarciu, bo wydaje mi sie ze mniej szarpie, albo po prostu przestałem na to zwracać uwagę. Ja jestem zadowolony z tego rozwiązania. Szczególnie stojąc w korku nie trzeba trzymać sprzęgła lub szukać luzu. Nawet taka blachostka jak machnięcie komuś na pasach że może przejść. Zawsze mamy wolna rękę nawet przy zatrzymywaniu się 😊
I'm glad that the 1300 is a relatively quiet bike. The 1250 was too loud in my opinion.

I talk the gear not the Moto
After more then 40 years driving bikes I can say that there are situations where you need a hand clutch. Especially driving in the mountains, unexpected steep turns etc. where you rev sometimes gets to low.
Actually they say it’s way better for driving on the sharp curves of mountains because engine never turns off and it always keeps the right gear. I’m sure it’s worth trying
Czy podczas dłuższej jazdy nie przeszkadza Ci dzwięk silnika? Mnie boli głowa po 2 godzinach. Kask mam dość dobry a mimo tego uczucie dudnienia i metalicznych uderzeń. 🤔
Bardziej mnie irytuje dzwiek opon niż silnika :)

@przemysawsekowski6082 Sport suspension + hight control. W modelu 2025 można mieć dwie opcje jednocześnie.
Jest jakaś zauważalna różnica w prowadzeniu na asfalcie w stosunku do wersji standard? W salonach wydają się niedoinformowani.
@@przemysawsekowski6082 Ciezko stwierdzic. Testowka jezdzilem pare tygodni wczesniej. Ten i ten sie dobrze prowadzi :)
Is the automatic transmission the same as on honda motorbikes using DCT or same like AMT?
Hi Riceice, i have seen this video and i have found it very interesting as first approach to the automatic shift on a Bmw. I have also read that yuo have had a Mutli V4S, the same motorcycle that i currently own. For this purpose i would like to know which is the moto that heats less between these two both in loung travels and in routes with traffic; in my V4S Pikes Peak, with full akrapovic system, i feel hot under the legs, particulary in Sport Mode. Hi, I would say multistrada heats up more. However, it was never an issue for me. My V4S is also with full akrap system.
It has a very bad noise!

The more I hear the noise of this one, the more I love the old one "SYMPHONY"
You can't hear the real sound of any bike on your phone.
It sound like a bad dryclutch version (nothing like boxer engine)
It's mostly because the camera placement under the helmet peak. When riding its not that bad.

Przy jeździe nie ma aż takiej tragedii. Kamerka była zamontowana pod daszkiem kasku, więc wszystkie dźwięki z przodu wyłapywała.

@@Jungleland33 Wait 1 or 2 years and while waiting. simply get a manual with standard or sport suspension, so no headache...
First shift cam didn't have any headaches.
@@BubbaSatori ShiftCam is another topic... Variable valve timing exist since the 80s, BMW implemented it to its boxer engines without having to face serious technological challenges. You may answer that automatic shifting system already exist for a longer time, sure. The potential issues may simply rise from adding extra "sensors and motorizations devices" to a mechanical system. Again, I am sure that it will be quite reliable pass the "1 year period" of first testing public release. I did use Rekluse clutch in the past, and it's a game changer for off-road and on road, especially on single cylinder capricious engines (some kind of semi-auto clutch) The ASA should be great, it will definitely be on my next bike. For the moment, the GS engine is so flexible (tractable and torquee) that automatic shifting is not "an urge" for the GS...
@@BubbaSatori I would’nt quite agree. I had tons of problems with the 1250 shiftcam engine… I sold it off because I was so fed up with it.
Thanks for your vid! How does the bike handle when going at crawl/low speeds, like when filtering through traffic jams? Do you get the same feeling on throttle response as with a normal clutch?
@stenebrug It handles well at crowl speeds. The bad thing is when you want to turn at very low speed. Usually you'll modulate with clutch the power for bike to not fall over. With this automatic, you need to keep the revs above the minimum or it will engage the clutch fully.

Ciao, Complimenti! È veloce il cambio marcia? Certo non sarà mai un DCT Honda ma è importante che sia veloce e non faccia effetto scooter. Quando sei in modalità automatica ( D ) puoi con il piede cambiare marcia? Oppure si può cambiare solo in modalità manuale? Ultima domanda per piacere, in modalità automatica cambia sempre agli stessi giri motore? Oppure cambia la marcia a diversi giri in base alle mappe Dynamic Road Rain ecc .... Grazie mille 🙏
Hello, the gear change is quick but not always smooth. It's like a manual with quickshifter. Yes, when in the automatic mode, you can change the gear with your foot. It changes the gears at different engine revs. It depens on the mode, as well as how quickly you apply throttle.

@@vitocarlofranchini3543 lo so che non ha il variatore è un cambio robotizzato con attuatore come la Yamaha FJR che nelle prime versioni staccava la frizione lentamente e sembrava un banale variatore con le dovute differenze

The bike is still in the break in period. I haven't reved it high yet :)
@riceice9251 thanks! Once you try it please let me know! :) I have 1250 and already ordered 1300 but with not ASA because nobody from BMW knows if it changes gear in high RPMs 😅

Have you tried emergency braking from 120km/h to the stop? This would be interesting to see how it works without the clutch.
There is emergency braking from 50 at 9:35 . I guess at 120 it will be similar
@@riceice9251 Thanks, I meant real emergency braking. Like stopping at full braking power. Never mind, I find the ASA interesting and you answered many questions in the video. Another question: Is the windscreen lifting it by itself ad 2:30? I didn't see you touching any buttons.
@@motolover5697 When you turn the bike off, it goes down. When you start riding, it will go to the previous position automatically.

Tak, tylko o jeden bieg. Jak sie gaz odpusci i nacisnie jeszcze raz, to zrzuci jeszcze raz o jeden bieg. Glownie dlatego ze jest to nadal skrzynia manualna, automat tylko naciska sprzeglo i wrzuca bieg.

@@popeyl1323 Nie :). Przed R1300 miałem Multistrade V4S, tam skrzynia i quickshifter jest bardzo przyjemny. Manual w GS jest bardzo toporny. Trzeba mocno naciskać stopą aby sie biegi zmieniały. Gdyby nie automat, to pewnie zostałbym przy Ducati.
Great video demonstration of how it works. What made you go with that over the bike with the manual shifting/clutch?
I am lazy in my nature. If I can get rid of pulling the clutch (which with manual GS you need to use only for rolling of on the street) and shifting the gears I will take it. Please keep in mind that the bike starts always in manual mode. Unless you push the D button, it will behave just like regular GS with automatic clutch. If you feel like riding with the quickshifter, you are fee to do so. If you get on a highway and put your adaptive cruise control on, then use the D mode and relax :)

Im see you have map with , its really increase power from 20 to 26 hp ?
It's hard to tell. I have installed it straight away when I get the bike. Be sure to change the front sprocket from 15 to 13 if you want to ride any technical terrain. With the freeride, don't expect that your arms will be pulled out on acceleration as it's with 450.
Changing to a smaller front Sprocket could help you...
I did that afterwards and it changed the bike. Going from 15 to 13 made it much better.
