I am seeing this about a month late. I have found that I am a child of God and he loves each one of us. Sometimes my comorbidities play a part in not feeling the spirit as much as I would like. Depression does that. I am late diagnosed ( not even 3 full years have passed) but I am still strong, but on noisy occasions you can find me in the hall or foyer and not the chapel of the building. I love nature and sometimes need it to get what I need out of the scriptures I read.

Hello I wanted to thank you for this video and tell you that my autistic husband is also a welder. He has worked at the Hill Air Force base in Clearfield. Utah for 44 years and he has told them he wants to work 10 more years and then he will retire. He will then probably try to help with something for the winter Olympic Games that we will have in Salt Lake City Utah. Then he will find some fun part time job, he cant function without a schedule. anyway you know how some of us really like to plan ahead. I work in a hospital pharmacy and I manage the medication inventory and make sure that the special drugs are ordered and ready to go for the kiddos who are trying to discharge to go home or to whichever state they came from, it's a children's hospital l. A lot of people have said that my job is so boring but I love it. I do a lot of the same things over and over with managing the inventory. Spreadsheets, data, reports, Preparing orders, receiving orders. Unloading palettes, building up pallets of returns. I love saving the pharmacy money so then we can help out the kiddos who don't have insurance and Things like that so I wanted to just let you know that there are some of us out there working. It's hard for us to endure the world and get to and from work. We both take public transit to work so we can relax and not have to make driving decisions before and after work. But so far we've been able to maintain our jobs. My 2 adult autistic children have not been able to work full-time yet. And so vocational rehab, therapy, all of that is part of their routine right now. 3 of us are level 2 and ond of my kids is level 1. I wanted to share to encourage folks that in my department of 20, 4 of us disclose our autism. So working in a closed or inpatient pharmacy setting may be good for other autists. And i know 2 dept managers in my hospital who also have autism. 1 is in groundskeeping and the other is in central processing where the surgery tools are cleaned and kits are organized . Thanks again for sharing, encouraging and letting me share 😊 in the void of the comments ! Oh yeah, I wanted to tell you My husband collects certain coins.And I showed him videos of your coin art. He is deaf in addition to being autistic.So visual things like your coin art he enjoyed so much. Thank you for sharing that online. I think it's great how you both are Welders and work with metal.And then you both also in your spare time Have hobbies with metal coins😅.

Autistic people in the workforce

Wow! How long did this take? And how did you plan it? Did you find darker coins and separate and organize them that way. Would love a follow-up short answering these types of questions

I wish I knew earlier, but not even my parents knew.

The sooner the better, and help them know other autists so they don't feel alone and decrease stigma. They need to know how their brain works and how to notice how to prevent dysregulation. Empower and educate them, that will decrease the self-loathing and suicide statistics of autistic folks.

As a neurotypical parent of an adult autistic on the spectrum I have to remind myself that though it’s different, life is, than I expect at the moment, it has major rewards. My son gives me a perspective at times that amazes, and humbling me. I am so grateful for him. ❤️

I kept smiling in agreement as to how this would be how he would react. But it helps me so much to understand his thinking even more. Because of you our communication is slowly improving. OMG, my heart goes out to Makenzie. And I can relate as a mom with an autistic son. There are so many times when he behaved just like Jaymes but was not trying to be selfish. Now that I understand his autism better I can identify so many of his behaviors and realize he’s just trying to do his best.

James sounds just like my son. Since he was also recently diagnosed at 49. He’s 51 now and unfortunately it has affected his relationship with his sons. They just see him as a bad father now. They don’t accept the diagnosis.

You are right. Divorce also takes a lot of work and effects on the individual. You'd rather stay and resolve. Thank you for sharing. I am thinking if my daughter will be able to marry or if someone will accept and love her, regardless of her ASD.

I am very familiar with that “shutting” down. I used to see it as a negative, as though my son was being angry with me. But I understand it better now and don’t take it personally.

This is very hopeful for me. My son was diagnosed at the age of 50, after a very bad marriage and many struggles with various jobs and having to deal with the loss of his father, my ex and his only 2 siblings, my son and daughter. Now we both live together. We’re both struggling to learn how to improve our communication. We have separate counselors which helps somewhat. Apparently his counselor feels this is what’s needed for now. Things are improving somewhat and for that we’re grateful. But listening to you is so amazing. You sound just like my son. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I so look forward to watching your remaining posts and hope you will continue to post more. Even if you can only do one a month. This information is invaluable to me. I can’t thank you enough for this. 🙏❤️
