You can use normal wooden chess pieces with the Millennium eONE!
It is possible to use normal wooden chess pieces with the Millennium eONE!
I just found this out by accident - I bought a set of wooden pieces, hoping that I could make them work with the eONE by putting tinfoil on the bottom of the pieces. But it turned out that this is not needed at all. The wooden pieces work out of the box! These chess pieces do not have magnets or metal or chips of any kind inside - they are pure wood!
To demonstrate this, I played a few moves using the fantastic "Chess for Android" app by Aart Bik on Android, with the eONE connect through Bluetooth.
Oh, and sorry for our Maine Coon Vinnie having a cameo at the beginning of the video. He is always so curious to see what's going on :-)
And yes, the autofocus on my webcam is bad, I know...

What chess program are you using?
In the video I used the "Chess for Android" app by Aart Bik. The engine I used inside of "Chess for Android" is my own self written chess engine "HMChess", which is not publicly available.

Are you happy about this eboard? Have you encountered any problems?
Hi Alberto, no problems after the first few days. But up until now I only used the eboard to play against engines on my Android smartphone and my Windows 10 pc. I haven't tried online games yet. But yes, I am happy with it :-)

@@heikomikala5294 I tried those pieces, they do work out of the box on the Eone and look fine for the price, however there a quite a few recognition issues on moves, which are a problem when playing online. Not sure how those can be solved...
