Zizou was the best because just imagine any player in his prime and Zidane in his prime playing in the same team...ZZ would always have the n.10 shirt , ball always to him to make the game and all the others would wait for his next brilliant move...He would always be the captain ,no matter how good or talented his teamates are .ZZ was always the player who everyone else was respecting and admiring him.Just make a picture of the best 22 ,he would always be the father of the family ,the player that he never cared who his opponent was...

I'm French, born in 1998. My earliest memories of football are Euro 2004 and his free-kick against England and of course World Cup 2006, my football birth. I was 8 years old watching France against Brazil and his magnificent performance in the quarterfinals. I remember every single detail of this night: the weather, where I was sitting on the couch, what I was wearing, my parents' friends watching the game with us. This game and his performance changed my life, and I am very serious here. I was so amazed, I knew that I wanted to play football in my life and try to get to his level maybe one day? And I have played football until I was 21 years old at a good level in France, always with Zizou and his pure elegance as a reference. He is my idol.

Zidane is easy top 5 goat of football in my list. Zidane as a player was simply unbelievable. The control, passing, vision, and his calmness on the ball was Magical. A great first touch and technique, Eagle eye vision, intelligence, unrivaled balance . He shines like no others during finals, during great games, he left this “whoa” impression, and everyone, including the players around him, had the same feelings we all felt.

Zidane had many qualities and he was explosive when he had to be. If you watch some of the videos of him you see him dribbling past people with speed. It's just that because he had to many qualities he did not always need to rely on speed. Great technical ability, vision, good understanding of positioning, grace, great quality of decision made him one of the best players ever. Zidane could have been a striker, he would have scored many goals, but instead chose to be a midfielder. He stood out in an era of football that there were truly world class players (1996-2004). The guy was blessed. Other footballers try and do tricks, Zidane did them without looking like he was trying. This is what makes him different. He played like he came from heaven.

Messi, Ronaldinho, Cr7, R9 would definitely get you off your feet but Zidane would make you sit back and think wtf because his is dribbling at its essence: the careful carress of the ball, body movement, ability to stop and start. Zidane was truly unique and his big game record was as good if not better than any of the other players Ferdinand mentioned.
