What a gorgeous engine and in such beautiful surroundings too!
Please upload more, love these videos
A really useful engine!
@@wsflco she’s a great little engine, just needed some love
Sounds great after the kinks got worked out.
@@corbinyoung6979 it’s actually running better since that video, more work during summer of 2024
Looks great. Live steam is hot.
How did you get the cab seat?!
What modifications?
@@thomasleaton7490 replaced the no8 gas jet with no5, machined a new damper collar, and lengthened & enlarged the blast pipe. More cosmetic changes to come soon
No, I'm asking why is there a different whistle on the 18?
What happened to the 18's old whistle?
@@conradfok it’s in the caboose
How long do they last running with the fire
@@Grumpygoodsengine deepens on how you are running it. Without the water pump, maybe half an hour. With the water pump and depending how hard the engine is working the fuel will last 1-2 hours
@@NCsteamer ok so let’s say I am pulling one person on level ground then going down a hill for about a mile in total would it make it
amazing sound
A cute little train
Make some more videos of the please!
The fire is peeking out the fire-box
The dragon was angry
Wait what’s ur name I gotta know who’s filming these
OMG THE FOUR IS BACK
I wish the would use the FM more.
Nice locomotive, how is it? Thinking about buying the Mabel as well
Great running little engine. Took some patience to get the damper collars set, then I shortened the exhaust pipe in the smokebox.
Two things. What radius were your curves and did she come with knuckle couplers like the description says on the store?
@@eastcoastrailproductions my curves are 4ft (R3 I think). The locomotive did not come with couplers when I purchased it last year.
What coupler did you go with, and where did you find it?
@@eastcoastrailproductions I can’t remember the part number, but it’s a Kadee “scale” coupler. It sits about half a knuckle low, but I’ve had no problems so far
Nice and smooth
The steering rod is pure genius!
Version 1.0…works nicely but could be better
Redwood Valley Railway #4 “Oak” (Built by the Redwood Valley Railway Shops in 1965) pulls one flat car through one part on the Redwood Valley Railway rail line.
The 4’s name is Laurel. The 7 is Oak
I'm glad to see Diane's little engine is being looked after and run.
She did a great job building it, in her words the running gear was a little weak. Over the past 6 years almost all of the running gear has been upgraded and strengthened. The stack was replaced with heavy wall steel and the exhaust nozzle completely reconfigured to induce better draft. It’s a good machine
live steam is hot
Love the diamond stack exhaust!
Sounds great!
Coooooooool!
Great view! Lovely garden layout. Enjoy your engine!
Very cool that location almost looks like on the Niles canyon Railroad specifically the bright side yard facility that’s one of their black widow locomotives they owed couple to it
Oh cool you have a model of the skunk train
Well dang, mark me and my little Willesco engine jealous, pretty little beast you got there.
That pump and belly tank is well worth the money by the looks of it! If only they would make one that is coal fired then i might consider buying one! Looks great though! 👍😁
A coal fired version would be fun, but once everything is dialed in the running it on isobutane is very easy and clean
You can convert them to coal but there very nice and clean as gas fired
Nice 🙂☕👍
Hello NC Steamer I purchased on of these some months ago and it came fitted with Axle driven Water Pump and Belly Tank. I spent some many weeks reworking it all as it was a very poor fitment considering the price for the model. Eventually got it going,. It now works quite well, but still have to fit a backhead Clack valve and Whistle valve. I would be very interested in what modifications you did to the smokebox... Cheers Ross
I plated over the opening in the bottom of the smokebox, except for a 3/8” hole directly under the chimney center. I removed the factory blast pipe and added a tee with a short nipple shooting straight up and a long nipple running straight down through the 3/8” hole. It has been a cantankerous machine, but slowly getting it to run better.
how do u get one with the crankshaft pump? is that the one with the bellytank/handpump option when you buy it?
It came with the belly tank/hand pump installed. The crankshaft pump I ordered from Maxitrak and installed myself
Great video of California Western 45.
Going over the new bridge
Wtf is 7 doing over there
Sanders must have been plugged.
How are you finding the engine? Looks amazing.
Wonderful machine
@@NCsteamer is this model offered with this option? or did you ad the crankpump yourself please?
@@charleskendall5972 it is an option, as an add on. The kit just became available, I got the engine in February
I’m just getting into steam and looking at this or a 2”. Stunning pieces of engineering.
Where is this railroad?
Sierra foothills near a place called Margaritaville
@@NCsteamer Is it a public railroad or private only?
@@conradfok very private
@@NCsteamer Then how come so many people are on the train?
Sounds nice!
Is this ho scale and how did you make that locomotive I know it has to be kit bashed.
It’s a NWSL brass model
Nice I ride that trai. When I was around 12 or 14 years old
Wait, if you're not Garret, then are you Johnathon Kruger?
Lovely. I've got one of the smaller ones!
Would definitely ride this to the shop and back ☺
Is this the railroads new engine they own now?
The 18 has resided at the Redwood Valley Railway for well over ten years. In the fall of 2022 the locomotive became a permanent part of the roster.
what gauge?
15” gauge, 5” scale
Wow! I had no idea that these (English?) steam models had this level of power AND traction!! Awesome! (I've had cheap electric models that could barely pull _themselves!)_
At 50lbs, dry, it’s a beefy little engine
