    CAN I USE THIS ON A FIBER GLASS RV??

    • @portolapaints
      @portolapaints 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ideally, Roman Clay should be applied to super smooth, level 5-drywall surfaces. Roman Clay is applied in very thin, overlapping layers, so cracking isn't normally an issue unless the substrate cracks. If the fiberglass flexes with movement it may cause a problem. We definitely recommend sampling and testing it out on the surface before deciding if it works for you! For more information please contact our support team at (323) 655-2211.

    If you are a renter, and need to return walls to their previous look (white, slightly popcorn walls) upon move-out, can you easily paint over the Roman Clay or Lime Wash? Seems like the Limewash specifically leaves a pretty grainy wall feel so maybe that option is not very renter-friendly? Is the Roman Clay more renter friendly? Can you talk about the paint removal processes?

    • @portolapaints
      @portolapaints หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both finishes can easily be primed and painted over once it's time to move! The texture of Lime Wash is fairly minimal and is easily hidden by the coats of primer and paint that would be used to cover it.

    Is the roman clay more matte than limewash? Which one would you suggest that’s more kid/lifestyle proof?

    • @portolapaints
      @portolapaints หลายเดือนก่อน

      Roman Clay has slightly more sheen, but is typically more durable and lifeftyle-proof. Roman Clay can also be cleaned and touched up easily. Lime Wash has more of a matte, slightly chalky finish and some colors can be more temperamental with touch ups.

    So interesting. Can you apply this to a wall that has orange peel texture?

    • @portolapaints
      @portolapaints หลายเดือนก่อน

      Roman Clay is designed to be used on flat surfaces, so you would ideally need to skim coat over the orange peel before applying Roman Clay. Otherwise, Lime Wash is another product we offer that works well over texture and gives a similar visual result. We have a video on our channel comparing the two finishes!

    I'm getting ready to use Roman Clay Fade to Black on my office walls. They are new drywall, but painted black with a satin finish (so a slight sheen). Can I use this as my primer base, or do I have to prime again? Has anyone else had any experience (good or bad) using Roman Clay on a satin finished wall?

    • @portolapaints

      If your walls have any kind of sheen we recommend priming with a water-based stain blocking primer. Any kind of sheen can cause problems with adhesion.

      I remodeled my bathroom and used Roman Clay. I know how to use it and have used it several times. You absolutely NEED to seal it. At least with 3 coats. Any stray water splashes on the wall that doesn't have enough sealer or isn't sealed, will automatically stain. Hes being very generous about how practical it is in a wet environment.

    First, is Clay like Lime? I’ve heard..Once you use Lime, you have to completely sand it off ‘remove it’ if you ever want to change the color, other put another type applications on it. Would you suggest like with lime, removing this clay application as well? Also, although this is a slightly different product, in as far as the thickness, how would you compare a lime and lime wash with this process and product? Sorry for all the questions, but I’ve been reading about lime wash, and the problems and issues with either 1. application, and or 2. diversity ie anti microbial aspects which prevent future application of another product later. To make it clearer of my concern, because I know! It might be confusing how I’m trying to explain it. So! “Let’s say” one lime- washed their wall, and in a year, they wanted to change it up, or maybe add this clay application; how would they go about that? Meaning, should they first remove all the lime first? ie sanding! Like I’ve been hearing! Or could one have applied a sealer perhaps to the lime washed wall, making it easier to cover it with another application in the future. Thank you for your time!

      Painting Over Lime Wash or Roman Clay Over Lime Wash Preparation: Remove any loose or flaking lime wash from the surface. Primer: Apply a high-quality, alkali-resistant primer to ensure good adhesion. Paint: Use a high-quality acrylic or latex paint. Application: Apply at least two coats for even coverage. Over Roman Clay Preparation: Sand the surface lightly to create a smooth base. Primer: Use a high-quality primer suitable for clay or mineral-based surfaces. Paint: Use a high-quality acrylic or latex paint. Application: Apply at least two coats for even coverage. In both cases, it's crucial to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for both the primer and the paint to ensure the best results.
