Buddhism never (at least from the teachings that I've learned) claimed that feeling desire is bad and that you should destroy that feeling. It claims that every desire can lead to suffering if you're not able to let go of the desire. It merely teaches that clinging on to a desire will inevitably lead to suffering. For example a lot of Christians have this immense desire that their god is indeed real. But imagine if somehow this was proven wrong then they will have an immense suffering because this one very important desire of them can't be fulfilled. I'm not trying to prove that God does or does not exists, but I'm just trying to give an example where a Christian can maybe relate to, in order to explain what I'm trying to say. I'm also not saying that desiring the existence of a god is wrong but you can see where this can lead to... Buddhism teaches you in this scenario that you have to be able to let go of this desire if it ends up not being able to be fulfilled or else unnecessary suffering will be the consequence.

It's avoiding the entire issue to begin with. Buddhism talks of extinguishing the entirety of the things that prevents you from achieving eternal bliss, christianity says to do thay but to make an exception to inflate the ego of the god of christianity and his son/alter ego jesus christ and the holy spirit it doesn't confront the problem at it's core it just makes a half assed exception. Don't get me wrong buddhism has a huge flaw too because the Shakyamuni Buddha says extremes of any kind are bad but then instructs people to goto extremes to achieve nirvana. In short the buddhist route is better but still not as developed as it could be, I'm not convinced the answer is purist practice in the religion.

Nirvanah is imppssible. No one is self sufficient. No one is able to have any happiness, nor peace, nor joy without desire. For such are the ways of devils: for they come not but to steal, kill and destroy. Beware of this doctrine: it will be your eternal suffering if you die believing that good desires are the enemy. Desires that are destructive in nature come from ego. Not desires which are good and used for edifying and building up and encouraging. Any desire that is pure and unselfish with all goodness does not come from ego. Rather, it comes from humility. But the buddhists have no desires good or evil. They strive to remain as neutral as possible, killing any desire in them. To be truly neutral, wavering between good and evil, is to care not what one loses, nor to care if one suffers. Budhism strives to be neutral to thendetriment of justice and peace. They don't understand that without taling a side they remain indifferent. They think that even good desires come from ego. This is not true, for any good desire for the use of healing and edifying comes from humility. They think that by destroying aby desire in them, that they will become humble. But without desire, humility cannot be desired. Albert Einstein said "To remain silent and indifferent is the greatest sin of all." For one who has become one with the universe, has conformed to its' very nature: a nature of pitiless indifference. Repent and trust in Jesus Christ. The graves of all budhists and Buddha are filled; the tomb of Jesus Christ is empty. For He rose from the dead, just as He said He would. You have the scriptures and the prophets who testify of hell, and that God is good and just. However, if you don't believe them, you will not believe though one rise from the dead to warn you of hell. It has already happened, and yet unbelievers everywhere continue to prove the words of Jesus Christ; the King of Righteousness.

Buddhists don't understand that without desire for anything, aspiration cannot exist. To not desire anything is to not desire good nor evil, and thus is becoming of one like the universe; being a person of PITTILESS. INDIFFERENCE. And where apathy of all things is, death and destruction are sure to follow. For thus is the doctrine of devils.

That’s not correct. Buddhism doesn’t seek to put out desire. The obvious example being the desire for enlightenment! The desire to develop loving kindness, equanimity, compassion and happiness in the joy of others. Buddhism seeks to reduce and remove grasping & neurotic craving (ie craving things that cannot lead to happiness etc. for example addicted to watching TH-cam videos!); also to reduce and remove pushing away/aversion/hatred; and to develop wisdom rather than ignorance.

The 4 noble truth adress Tanha as the source of Dukkha (Suffering, Stress, Dis-ease, Disatisfaction). But Desire is not a 100 percent accurate translation of Tanha i feel. Tanha is a kind of craving, unquenchable thrist, a (errant) desire. Sometimes symbolized as Fire, since fire burns on the more fuel you add to it. Never satisfied. Thats why Nirvanna is symbolized as the blowing out of a lid candle. This is the kind if Desire, Buddhist practice aims to adress. There is a kind of a noble kind of desire. And as such i think Bishop Baron just confirmed that there is indeed common ground between Christianity and Buddhism.

I admire and love the dear Bishop, but I want to highlight the part of his response that he did not elaborate on. I accept your definition of Tanha and contrast that with how Jesus defines love. Jesus teaches us that love is defined as the intense attachment for the benefit of our friends over ourselves. The intensity so high, that one would be able to lay down their very own life, against a 'human' sense for self-preservation. John 15:12-13 12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 *Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.*

@@alisterrebelo9013In Buddhism, there is no “self”. So, for whom are you laying down “your” life, and who is doing the laying down? In Buddhism all life is precious, including “yours”. And let us not forget that the same man who called laying down your life to be a great good, also said that we should hate our own lives, and hate family, father, mother, and children. In other words, lay down your life first for god and NOT your friends. These kinds of contradictions are what make your scriptures, for me, untenable.

Try this. When you ask where is the desire coming from, you mind will not find it anywhere. Buddhism does not tell you to eliminate any thing. It helps you to see there is no self on anything. "to awaken a purified higher desire" is just an opinion like any other ones. Everything including your thought in this moment is just a cause to combine with other causes for the next thing or things to happen. The only thing always with you unchanged is your awareness without any opinion. Once an opinion appears and you are not aware about it, you are back to normal cycle of cause and effect. Interesting? With your awareness without opinion you are not living like vegie, but no stress and more.

Anyone who's trying to put out their desires does not understand the impermanence of desires and self, neither does anyone who teaches to put out desires - meaning they are not learning or teaching buddhism. Not saying it's wrong, but it's not Buddism. Desires such as greed or lust, are to be observed and understood. Desires such as to learn, to be peaceful motivate people to become the better version of themselves. @sigalius Some westerns do understand Buddhism - I've seen many practicing 8fold paths and meditation following Buddhism teaching.

Having practiced buddhist meditation myself and actually "made it" to the first level of enlightenment, I can tell you one thing guys ... 🛑JUST STOP IT! 🛑 E.g. "Tukdam" (see Wikipedia or John D. Dunne) from the tibetian buddhists (Gelug, Dalai Lama), is the practice of becoming a deity YOURSELF. And thus to "quit" reincarnation. Meaning, from a christian perspective, to deliberately become POSSESSED by a specific demon. A demon like "Vajrabhairava". Actually I got possessed by such a demon during meditation myself and it all seemed nice and holy in the first instance. But quite the opposite is true. With demons actually being (fallen) angels, of course (!) they can appear HOLY and whatnot. Just look at Joseph Smith's story (Founder of the Mormons). They can easily deceive man. Just by the fact that they're unimaginably more intelligent than any human, as they do not need to learn, but just "know it all" so to speak. Inside and out. Outsmarting a demon yourself isn't an option. But this is what they aim for. Just look at buddhist (or hindu) depictions of their deities like "Vajrabhairava". This is important! Do some research. Just look at all their depictions and read the description of any deity. Every "deity" in Buddhism is in fact a demon. It cannot be more obvious. EVERY buddhist deity is obviously a demon. Just look at them. The Dalai Lama himself "is" THE Bodhisattva of compassion, called "Avalokiteshvara". That's why, out of his "compassion", he is trying to make up with a ~9 year old boy in front of a whole crowd and running cameras. "His Holiness" is actually "His Pedophileness". Sorry for the polemics, but it's the truth and you can verify it yourself. Just search in YT for "dalai lama kisses boy full video". Now imagine what this "enlightened entity" (the Dalai Lama), is doing BEHIND CLOSE DOORS. So this is how he tries to free us all from "Samsara"??? From a christian perspective Buddhism is a form of occultism with the final goal to become possessed by demons. From a christian perspective Buddhism is actually a straight gateway to hell. From a christian perspective Buddhism is disguised evil. Bishop Barron just doesn't know enough about Buddhism and Demonology to call it out for what it is. Evil. Evil, disguised as a means to holiness. Been there, done that, don't make the same mistake. The goal to become holy and detached from the world is actually a christian goal AS WELL. But christians try instead to become fully ATTACHED to God and God alone. Buddhists are trying to become gods THEMSELVES. Just like the "light-bringer", the highest angel of them all. You know who Luzifer aka Satan... Pray to God and don't lose your soul. You only have one.

Wanna know what really is the purpose of existence let me tell you this data im saying is super rare Be patient and read it you will see the beauty and outstanding wisdom of Lord buddha... What is truly the point or goal of existence? >The point or goal of existence of any being is to live forever Yup sounds unrealistic right buts thats the truth... Dont believe me just take a look at your body you see skin, nails, teeth, hair.... Just ask yourself what is the purpose of hair... If you know biology you know that hair >keeps us warm by preserving heat >Hair in the nose ears and around eyes protects these sensitive areas from dust.... >Protecting the skin from environment stresses.... So now lets take another example lets talk about nails ask your self what is the purpose of nails? Cause of nails you can grab into stuff easily you have a good grip... Now lemme ask you a having a good grip will it increase our survival or decrease.... Increase right... Cause you have a good grip you can actually grab food climb trees and many more.... So what does this have to do with purpose of existence huh? If you deeply analyse what you can come to a conclusion is that every part of your body from hair to nails to skin not only parts all your systems work with only one intention that is actually to keep you alive and safe forever.... The point of happiness and sadness is also a mechanism build up by nature itself to keep you safe and alive forever... You feel happy when you do something which increases your survival rate food sex etc... Cause you feel happy your are motivated to repeat the action which will increase your survivability... If happiness did not exist then you won't do the actions which are required to maintain your survival and you would die... Same with sadness if catching fire wasn't painful you would catch the fire and die so now cause catching fire is painful you are not motivated to repeat that action which is a threat for your existence... So why do you have this desire to exist anyway? You have this desire to exist cause you believe there is a self or soul... (Ego)... So your both body and mind is build in a way to protect this ego or self or soul... Lord buddha through deep meditation found out that this belief of self or soul or individual existence is actually a false belief.... In reality there is no one to protect inside us but cause of this false view of a existence of a self inside us we evolved into a complex being.... Well that's all i have to say to anyone who wants to know the purpose of existence...

Exacto, varias en diferentes puntos de la region principal de la sabana, sin tocar la sangre o la imagen. He estado esperando eso por años. En la prueba original fueron todas de la misma esquina que no era parte de la sabana original.

Desire is not the problem, it is our wrong perceptions.
