FOR THE MASSES... RE: Min WAGE This is a big discussion, and I really appreciate your comment, which is why I would like to point to the actual data. THE DATA California's higher minimum wages for fast-food workers has shown no job losses and minimal price hikes. "3.7% rise in fast food prices - far lower than the fast-food franchise lobby claimed were necessary." - LA Times THE HUMANITY In the most powerful country in the world nearly 37 million people in the United States are below the poverty line. So personally, using the example of California, I'd rather pay 18 cents more per Big Mac in an effort to ensure hardworking Americans are being paid enough NOT to live in poverty. THE INFLATION There's actual inflation, which was much lower than the additional margin expansion aka "price gouging" where companies took advantage of hard-working Americans to juice profits and drive stock buybacks. TRICKLE DOWN DOESN'T From 1975 to 2018, the income of the top 1% grew by over 300%, while the bottom 90% saw significantly smaller increases - (Rand Cop Wage Research). This gap emphasizes the injustice of stagnant wages for millions of Americans, many of whom work full-time but remain in poverty. Raising the minimum wage can help address this inequality by ensuring that economic gains benefit all workers, not just top executives. IN CLOSING Hard-working Americans asking for living wages is not the problem.
You do realize the more we increase the minimum wage the more expensive everything gets, right? How does that not makes sense? You guys are too smart for this. The minimum wage increase is not the solution. It feels like it, I agree it feels like the solution, but that only raising average expenses. The solution limiting government spending to reign in inflation. Inflation is the problem, not wages.
