There are so few of them left in existence, their empire is crumbling and Omni-man’s mission wasn’t just one of conquest, but also to find a suitable species that could be genetically compatible with viltrumite DNA. It’s not even the first time, because mark has a half-brother for the same reason. That’s why it was so important to Omni-man that Mark gets his powers eventually, and why he was so upset that Mark wouldn’t join him. It’s also why he’s going through such a crisis of conscious right now, because no matter what he does he’s going to wind up as either a traitor to an empire he’s been in loyal service to all his life, or a traitor to the only family that’s ever loved him, and it’s only until now he’s realized how much the latter is actually worth, because on Viltrum no such thing exists.
