I Revisit My First Sim Video On The Nordschleife 1 Year Later, Did I Improve?

So 1 year ago to this day I uploaded my first video in my racing simulator, to put down a base line, taking the BMW 1M around the Nordschleife with a time of a 9:15.007 with a promise to revisit it in a year. 1 year to that day, I ran it again with my new found experience in the sim to see how much I improved. @@Vr-zs8rg which wires? I removed everything from it before taking it out, radio, AC controls, gauges, ECT... So there were no wires left connected once I removed it. If you have wires still, check to make sure everything is taken out first. There is a cable connected to the center air vent for the hot cold if that is still in. It's an easy one to miss. There is also a sensor on the top of the dashboard where the defroster is, so pull that out too, I missed that one initially.

      @@bulziahebrand numerous reasons, almost all coming down to cost. As great as it would've been to buy a fully race built car, not only would it be more expensive initially but in order to buy what I want/need it wouldn't be street legal. Not being street legal means you can't get a conventional auto loan for it, meaning you would either need cash in hand or a different type of loan with a much higher interest rate and larger down payment, neither of which were options for me. Ultimately buying a built one would be cheaper than building a race car, but by piece mealing it, it became more affordable and makes for a fun experience, plus you get a say in every part along the way.

    Soooooo I work in a collision shop I’m a BMW master body technician, I was looking at the instructions for the front bumper and unfortunately I think this video is a little more complicated than it needs to be, currently fixing a 2002 M3, it was rear ended and pushing into the car in front so, new bumpers new deck lid, new rear body panel, and fix both quarters. From what I understand from the instructions and after I got the front bumper off the only thing to get it off are the screws like stated on the bottom, both front wheel liners (just the small ones) then disconnect temp sensor, fog lights and alarm sensor, the right fog lamp plug will not be accessible until you get the bumper partially off for it is covered by the windshield washer bottle. I hope this helped I’m not trying to dog on the video but I think it would be super helpful for other DYIers to see the simplistic approach.

    • @WannabeRacer
      @WannabeRacer ปีที่แล้ว

      I was in the same camp when I was trying to decide. What ultimately swayed me was the fact in the event of a rollover, when the roof collapses, you run a significantly higher risk of serious injury or death as a harness is meant to be used with a cage. The harness holds you body stiff and if the roof collapses there's nowhere for your body to go unlike in a regular seatbelt, so you could very easily crush your spine. I ultimately decided that the extra cost to have roll protection was necessary.
