Riding my Ténéré on the Oregon BDR with new Öhlins suspension
If I had one complaint about the Öhlins suspension it'd have to be the shock only having as many adjustments as the stock one. At the price it is I'd at least expect high/low speed compression.

    I've ridden all my life and have many bikes from KTM 300exc to ktm790 S with suspension mods for dirt. In between a KTM 500exc. I fail to have confidense on the dirt with the 790 so I was told to get the Husky 701 and use that instead of the 790. It is the perfect unicorn bike. Big enough for 100+ miles of freeway and light enough for hard 2 track. Not a 300 2 stroke but way better than the 790.

    My brother and I both have T7's and what is odd is that the factory suspension on his '23 was by far worse than my '22 Teneré even with our settings set the same. In either case the factory suspension leaves much to be desired and we both have upgraded. I have full Tractive suspension and he had Tractive front and Ohlins rear. such a huge improvement. My factory suspension was tolerable but only just, his was miserable. I don't have an explanation for this, QC at Yamaha maybe?

    • @cycleprism
      @cycleprism หลายเดือนก่อน

      Entirely possible. My fork oil looked like glitter mixed with swamp water and it only has 3k miles on it, and I don't use a pressure washer near the seals. The rebound on the stock shock felt nonexistent cause it was always trying to pogo me off the front of the bike on hard g-outs and rock patches no matter what I did. My buddy got one from the same dealer a week after me and his is suspension is amazing, but the transmission is terrible compared to mine.

    That terrain seems to be well within the capabilities of the stock suspension at about double the speed you were going, I do wanna see your takes on the Ohlins as I am debating weather to go Tractive or Ohlins.

    • @cycleprism
      @cycleprism 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @lorenzotelleria4200 So far, I'd say go anything closed cartridge. The ohlins have the same problem as stock where the oil aerates, and they start to lose damping and get very bouncy and out of control. As for double the speed, properly sprung and set up, I have no doubt the stock stuff would handle it until the oil breaks down or you get a flat.

    Did you hear what they sounded like before the decat? I'm deciding between the full 2in1 or the slip ons and x-pipe. I know the latter is more expensive and probably less power but I like the dual pipe look. Did you dyno it as well afterwards?

    • @cycleprism
      @cycleprism ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven't heard the slip ons without the x-pipe. The stock slip ons were still very mellow after the decat. I haven't dyno'd it, but my guess is 10-15% more power everywhere, especially up top. It pulls like mad from 4-8k where before there was a dead spot between 4-6k and then it'd jump and die again around 7k.
