I hacked the machine to have power feed for the mill by cutting the cord to the mill and operating the lathe and mill simultaneously. Make sure you have enough for your power supply. Two circuits is best.

You should do a tutorial, I'm sooo confused on how to it and what tool is needed😭
Good chattering 1 squeaky wheel 0 😊
I’d prefer a Brent for sure. This wheel could be 50 years old, maybe older. It is also a little too slow for doing the chattering.
Absolutely beautiful!! I'm going g to try chattering tonight foe the first time, trying to absorb as much YT knowledge as possible in preparation!

Woooow 😇😲
So do I need chattering ladies to chatter my pots? :P
3:00 why is the pattern like this?
The tool used, the hardness of the clay, the speed of the wheel, the prssure of the tool. th-cam.com/video/4sLCvzV6CPo/w-d-xo.html You can see several textures. Some turn out better than others.
Very nice work
My students loved this one, too!
My students loved this!
The people chatter is awful on this video. Muting of this video is very important in order to concentrate on the technique of the potter. The completed vessel is wonderful and quite beautiful.

I have the oppertunity to buy one of these with a digital controller in working condition for $100, i assume this is a good deal? any tips on what to check for? also how thick matereal do you think it could sew? i will be doing textiles but also some leather. also, does it zig zag? thanks so much for any help you can give
No ZigZag on this machine. It is Entirely worth $100. It will do some leather, but it is not a leather working machine. I have done several layers of 1000D nylon consistently on my machine using size 21 needle. The needle feed is very capable. As to what to look for, you can get most any part you need other than the controller. This machine is from the early to mid eighties.
@@103SideProjects great, thanks for the info
@@103SideProjects do you know the max needle and thread size for this machine? cant seem to find that info, the manual seems to indicate it takes a size 14 but it must be able to take a larger needle. thanks again for the helpfull info!
@@shonuffisthemaster I do not know the max size, but I use a size 21 and 69/70 thread.
Wow! I'm like how did you do that?
I've watched your video several times. I just can't make out the tool. What shape is the tool you chattered with?

great th-cam.com/video/okSFqzwzTfM/w-d-xo.html
I’ve been looking for a needle feed machine and have the opportunity to pick up one of these. Any thoughts on the machine? If the electronic controller dies, can you still use it as a “normal” manual machine?
This machine is 40 years old and still sewing. It is a garmet machine but I sew some pretty heavy work on it using 69 thread. This one has automatic foot lift. You would have to get a knee lift to run it without the controller.
jeff lee Thank you!
Would have liked to get a better look at the tool
Very interesting technique, I’ve often wondered how this was created. Thanks you for sharing ! For the individuals put off by the conversation in background, lighten up. Be respectful and show some tact, when voicing your opinion.
Call me
Chattering the pot, and I love the ladies chattering too.

Very good
I wish you would’ve narrated this video and explained what you were doing. The chatter in the background was rude and annoying. I hope you make more videos as you’re a terrific potter and have some good techniques to share.
I'm not sure you could really consider that rude. He clearly works in a shared space and obviously didn't mind having his colleagues around. Studios are very often social spaces.

God very nice
Great work but most people watching are here to learn. You could perhaps speak, explain hand movement and tools.
Krisztina E. Dihen it says in the description it’s tools made from a steel pallet. If that helps. Would be great if he did a Demi on making these tools and others being used for us beginners. 👍🏼 Really cool bowl tho Love it❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!💛🙏
I actually think the ladies in the background give a real feel to how a good pottery studio should be. Some happy people working with clay and having a blast. That’s why I love my college ceramic classes so much. We all just sit back, throw some stuff, joke around, and make some kick ass stuff. It wouldn’t be the same in complete silence, at least not for me. Free talking let’s the good ideas flow through the room like a windy day. Hahaha
I go to a studio and that is the way we are there. We teach each other and encourage each other.
Bravissimo!!
