    Hi! How did you install the map mode button on the center of the steering wheel?

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @baybak7202 the original clamp that holds it on.....the silver tabs....just pull them off and it will have a hole there and loop a Zip-Tie through the holes that remain and ziptie it to center of the handlebars. No drilling or nothing needed the holes are already there. If you need to see a picture I can give my Instagram because here on youtube you can't post pictures in the comments.

    I use high rev map on single track 2020 fx and and it free flows threw single track with out the jerkeness. Also try keifer free flowing map for single track works great

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Is the Hi-rev map the one they call the GP Aggressive Hi-Rev? ....thanks for the input. I have keefer maps downloaded, I will give the free flow a try. I am just so used to riding it now in MX Power Feel and I like Keefer Aggressive Map too...and then I have a woods map I usually run on single track.

      @ the high rev map is a stock map on the app. Any time I use Mx power feeling I can never feel like my flow through single track is great. I much faster when I’m not on something aggressive cause I’m fighting the bike more. Hope it helps

      @jorgesoto8680 on the 2022 model the stock three maps are MX Power Feel....Torquey....and Hard Terrain (this map supposed to use on Map 2 for some reason).....then just the stock map all 0's.

      Holding up great.....no issues.....oil/filter every 6 hours....tearing it down now that winter is here go over all the bearings and re-pack with grease...just general maintenance stuff, fresh spark plug and check valves and might just change timing chain and tensioner just as a precaution type thing...other than that I have not had one issue with this bike since I bought it January 2022.

I did a few seasons with that. However, I always wished I had a 250f. Now I finally have one and love it so much. Just have fun with your bike man. Don't worry so much about maps, focus on your riding and techniques. Use that clutch too! It's easy to get clutch plates for under 100$ and replace them

    I’m getting a 24 250fx on Tuesday and I’m kinda nervous because I’ve heard they have problems starting and rod bearing problems have you had any problems

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the 2022 and you speaking of the rod bearing is the first I have heard of this. The detuned maps for me tend to be the harder starts....when I say hard starting I mean it turns over two or three times before it starts....it is not a continuous cranking without start but it is a few seconds of cranking. There are videos of guys who race that have found ways to help them start quicker if it becomes a problem. I am a novice rider at best, so them one or two extra crank overs don't affect me...but they are not a everyday thing for me. My bike 98% of time is an instanst crank start. Sorry I can't give you a better answer for that question, just my own experience. I love this bike now, in the early days being a new rider I questioned my purchase, but I have no regrets now....best of luck and congrats on the new bike. If you have any other questions drop a reply and if I can answer it, I will.

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @urbancow8348 you might already know this but another thing that helps is turn the Idle up "while in gear"....Also if the "hard start in gear "..happens again, try giving your clutch knob a spin I feel when the bike is new that the clutch is a little tight till get worn a little...cause when you hit your button when it was hard starting did it lurch a little like the clutch was dragging?....just what I experienced when mine was new but if you keep clutch adjusted to me that is where the symptoms seem to come from. I am no mechanic....this was my first dirtbike but just things I observed in the beginning when it was new.....it will get better the more you ride it. Just few things that helped in the beginning....and yes I changed out the battery in the first few months ...these few things helped me in the early days. Glad you got your bike and best of luck with your racing.

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Night and day. GPX was carburated.....it was fun and was street legal.....but the FX has way more power. The GPX for what it was ....was super reliable...never had any issues the 2 years I had it....suspension was decent and could ride singletrack....but the FX is like a Cadillac compared to it. I paid $3000 for it brand new...was a left over...and I got my 3k of enjoyment out if it. Overall was good experience once the Jetting was figured out. People say "China Junk"....but the GPX was pretty decent machine. MEG braps is riding a new model 2 stroke this year on her hard enduro racing from what I understand...check her videos out.

    Hey Pete! Love the videos, especially since I'm located in PA as well, and was also in the same boat... wanting to do woods/single track riding, but consider myself a novice... whats your thoughts on the 250FX today compared to your video regarding if it was the right back for you? I am stuck between wanting a 250fx or a ktm 300 xcw... they are both awesome bikes.

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey what part PA you from...originally I am from Western Pa. To answer your question (just keep in mind this was my first dirtbike so I have nothing else to compare it to.) I was skeptical when I first bought the bike. The throttle was so touchy till I got used to it, and I found that with this bike if you can control the throttle and clutch...you will enjoy this bike. I did NOT do a "throttle tamer" or nothing. I just told myself...."learn the bike how it was bought"... and that is what I did. I never installed a flywheel weight or nothing. The bike is stock as it was in 2022 when I bought it. The mapping is awesome...in the beginning I was running what I call "detuned" maps when learning singletrack, but now I run some aggressive maps on singletrack just messing around. I found the mapping was key when I was first learning to ride this bike. I just got worried when I bought it because I honestly didn't know how to ride it and felt like it was to much bike for the trails I was riding. But like anything there is a learning curve and I had the full spectrum of that curve. I can honestly tell you....I don't ever see me selling this bike. I bought a YZ 250 two stroke and I keep it in the garage.....I would rather ride the FX. The suspension once it broke in....I kept adjusting and now have found great settings for Rocks and Tree/Log crossings and am very happy with it. It took time...but I love this bike and my opinion will vary from a more experienced rider who has alot more experiences on other bikes...they may tell you different. I can only say from my experience and I thought I wanted to try a 2 stroke so I bought a used one that needed work......and I will keep working on learning to ride it...but with the FX you twist the throttle and the power is there.....I can't get used to the two stroke loading the flywheel and revving it out after being on a four stroke. It is a new thing to learn....but I always find myself back to the FX.....and now I find I am repeating myself...so I will just say I have NO regrets on buying the FX, am very pleased with this purchase and it Definitely the right bike for me in the end. Whatever you choose to purchase...give yourself time to learn the bike....and only tip I can give you that was a game changer believe it or not...was TIRES.....they made so much a difference riding in the woods. The stock Dunlops had me tentative and hesitant when approaching log/rocks gardens on trail......cause to many slips and loss traction. Tires are a game changer. Let me know what you buy when you do purchase a bike, best of luck. If you have any other questions, just ask I will answer what I can.

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No it is on the parking lot side. Follow road from parking lot all the way back till you can make option to turn left on a road down the hill or go straight......go straight....it all changed cause they put 4 wheeler/utv trail in the beginning of this trail. I will look up a 📍 location where the singletrack trail begins. You will see a yellow trail marker...but that is some harder rocky stuff....go past and there will be orange trail marker on the right. Will post the location I will go look it up now.

    Is this a good beginner bike

    • @pete8149
      @pete8149 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was my first dirtbike.....so I might not be a good person to answer. But I can tell my experience for the last 2 years on it. The throttle is touchy....(alot of people put on a throttle tamer but I never did) just learned the bike stock as it was. Only thing I did was download a detuned map for learning woods riding but now I can ride woods in MX Map..and some other aggressive maps. It is a awesome bike after I learned to ride it in East Coast Rocky trails. I came off sportbikes so I did have motorcycle experience...just not dirtbike experience. I would say with the ability to detune the bike with your phone on the Yamaha App does lead to me to say it could be a good starter bike and as you progress you can change maps easily in seconds and as your skills get better download more power/aggressive maps through the app. Suspension is a little stiff in the beginning but I am 200 lbs and after it got broke in I softened it up and have no issues with it. Also if your riding woods best upgrade you can do right away is put tires on it for the terrain your riding. Any other questions drop a message will do my best to answer......This is a dirtbike "noobie" perspective. Thanks for the reply...hope I helped a little....

    That’s awesome. I’m thinking of picking up a TE 300 from Husqvarna and getting it plated for NJ.

      @@pete8149 in NJ we don’t have inspections for motorcycles. Hopefully it stays that way. PA has inspections from what I’ve heard.

      @@pete8149 Oh it was great! Rode his bike for 20 minutes or so up a couple hillclimbs, single track, leaves, some sand and root jumps! Being 20 years newer and lighter/more flickable than my 450 really showed! He had brand new hybrid gummy tires and those things made a HUGE difference compared to the stability/traction of my 6+ year old MX style Bridgestones with 50% tread left 😅 Also I'm 6'1 and 240ish pounds so I noticed that I need to adjust my handlebars forward which will get them higher as well. I couldn't ride standing up as much as I wanted because how low they were and it made my center of gravity more forward which was sketchy! I need the tires he has for sure, and love the low end smooth and consistent torque on the hillclimbs with the 250, whereas my 450 you kinda have to give it some sauce in 1st gear because 2nd is too low and boggy....but once you get that initial speed you can pretty much just hold 1/4 throttle with some clutch work and/or more twist of the throttle and she'll power up there....can't imagine how much nicer it's gonna be with those gummy tires, rebuilt/resealed forks (they need it badly after these past 2 rides. Who knows when my dad did it last before he passed away and I acquired the bike as my personal one and sold my 125sx) and handle bar adjustment with some bark buster protection man! I really liked his bike alot. It's funny because he has 120 hours on that bike and never rode a 4 stroke, so he was pretty scared to hop on the 450MXC (understandably so, it's a beast of a bike) and didn't know what to expect. He said he was actually pleasantly surprised with how it felt, and he had a big ole grin when I asked him how the power comes on when you open up 1st gear 🤣 because SHE GETS DOWWNNNN!!! So now I need to find someone with a 2020+ Yamaha YZ250FX to compare and I also wouldn't mind trying out a newer Husqy TE150/KTM 150XCW, or a Beta 200RR to really get a taste of several different setups for the trails and terrain local to me! I think the 150's are gonna be insanely fun and flickable, and I've also heard they really ride well for a small bore and bog really nice and don't come on the pipe as quick as a light switch like 125's are known for! I still have alot of testing and research that needs to be done before I choose to spend $5k+ on a bike, but I'm happy with the results of that TE250 that's for sure! Thanks for checking in on my ride brotha 🤜🤛🤙

      Understood......but unfortunately it was advertised and sold as an "X"......me not knowing alot about dirtbikes cause I am dirtbike Dumb got scammed.....which is my fault. Said it had new top end...flywheel weight and clutch....all was lies had to do a top end, new clutch and threw on a flywheel weight. So all my fault on a bad purchase...but will make the best of it. Thanks for your input....appreciate it.

      @@pete8149 I have learned that the average person (beginner, intermediate) will never be able to tell by riding whether a bike is for enduro or motocross. So, for all practical purposes most riders in the world can use either interchangeably for both purposes and will never know the difference. There are only a tiny slice of dirt bike riders who may feel disadvantaged by using an enduro bike for motocross and vice versa. I am a low-intermediate rider (4 years experience) and use my YZ250FX for enduro and motocross and it works perfectly. Essentially, only the top 1% of riders can FEEL or detect the difference between a motocross vs enduro bike. The rest are just regurgitating what they read in magazines or from online reviewers. At my local motocross track, even highly experienced riders who rode my enduro bike could not discern any difference in performance. All this applies to NON-Racing, fun riding only. For true racers, their mileage may vary. One vet racer borrowed my bike to try out and beat his own "motocross" bike time.

      Yes heavy duty tubes.....want to try the Tubliss but haven't ordered then yet. I change my own tires so don't think I will do mousse bibs just cause they appear to be harder to change tires.
